@Laura -- Thanks for sharing this idea and your example! We will monitor this idea to see how many other people would like to see this. Could you share more about why your use case requires turning off features for other holes rather than simply zooming to the extent of a different hole in each slide? Could you also please provide details or an example of how you did this in the classic storytelling templates?

@GregoryHanton Thank you for providing additional information. We believe we have found the issue and are working on a fix. I expect that we should be able to address this in our next release in early December.

@Thomas_Van_Bruggen -- This feature is not available. It is on our radar, and we understand it is a popular request. However, there are some technical challenges that prevent it from being straightforward, and for that reason it hasn't yet been prioritized. Please vote for this idea if you haven't already: Ability to link to a specific location/slide in Ma... - Esri Community

@LucyHall1 -- In general, you can add many maps all throughout a story and things will work fine, but there are a few situations to avoid. The configuration that you are using near the end of your story does overload the web page because it requires so many maps loaded simultaneously. When you have multiple sidecars in a row it results in several sidecars being in, or just outside, the browser's viewport, so they are all loaded by the web browser. Since each of the sidecars starts with a map, at least three maps are being loaded simultaneously, which can start to overload browsers, especially on mobile devices. There are a few things you can consider to help alleviate this situation: Add some lightweight content (text and/or images) between the sidecars. For example, you could move the images in the later sidecar slides out of the sidecars and add them to a gallery between each sidecar. Or maybe there is a way to sprinkle those sidecars throughout earlier sections of the story instead of having them all sequentially in one place? Move the map from the first slide to the last slide of the sidecar. When a sidecar comes into view the first three slides are loaded. Because there are maps in all of the first slides they are loaded immediately. If the maps come later in the sidecar they will only be loaded when the reader clicks through to the slide with the map. This suggestion may not be as effective, because if readers stop browsing through the sidecar on the map slide and go to the next sidecar they may eventually still end up with multiple maps visible at the same time.

@RebeccaNDiaz - Thanks for posting your question about map tour. The initial extent of a tour is automatically set to the full extent of all tour places (in 3D tours, this is not always possible depending on the geographic distribution of tour places around the globe). There is currently no way to override this. The "Custom" option in the tour map settings is a zoom level, not an extent. It controls the initial zoom level used for each place after readers scroll past the initial tour view and start viewing individual places. This zoom level can be overridden for individual places in the location editor. We recognize this setting can be difficult to understand and are looking at ways to clarify it. I would recommend voting for the idea linked below if you would like to see the ability to customize the initial tour view added in a future update. Also, be sure please add your specific use cases and challenges to the idea thread so we can best understand how this feature will be valuable. Including screenshots of what you see with your tour points vs. what you want/expect can be very helpful. Custom Initial Zoom in Map Tour - Esri Community

We recommend using a sidecar (in floating panel or slideshow layout) with an express map in the media panel as a workaround for anyone currently using a tour with only one location.

@GregoryHanton - I'm sorry that you are seeing issues with embedded dashboards. No recent changes in this behavior are expected. Are your StoryMap and dashboards shared with everyone? If you can you provide links we can try to look into this for you. If they are not publicly available, please contact Esri Support and they can help you troubleshoot.

At this time, you can select a flat, single color icon that is added within a colored circle, and that serves as the map marker (see examples, below). Is this request asking for the ability to 1) upload similar flat-style icons beyond what is currently available in the picker, or 2) upload new map marker image files that completely replace the colored circle+icon markers that are available today?

@FionaS -- I'm sorry you are having trouble playing audio in your story. I just scrolled through your entire story (very cool story, nice work!) and was able to play every audio file. I also heard audio in the video as well. I was viewing the story on an iPhone 15 with iOS 26.1. If you are seeing an issue, it may be related to network issues, a specific piece of hardware, or your operating system version. Can you make sure you are upgraded to the latest iOS and test again. If you are already on the latest, I would recommend please contacting Esri Support and they can help you troubleshoot further.
