The expand feature should still work in builder mode, but it is currently broken for some images. @sdomzu - Unfortunately, that capability has not yet been added to the new map viewer. I do believe you can also export the shortlist layer from the web map as a hosted feature layer using ArcGIS Pro, if you have access to that. Another idea is to extract the information from the web map JSON using a tool like ArcGIS Assistant or Python and create a CSV that you then publish as a hosted feature layer to use in a map tour in ArcGIS StoryMaps. ... Just a caveat, configuring an image with a link would eliminate the ability for the image to be expanded, similar to how things work in a story. As workaround, you can add a caption to an image in briefings (in the image options), and the caption can be formatted with a link. So that might work as an alternate treatment to associate a link with an image in a compact way. ... View more

Great suggestions @SaraJL and @JonathanMcD! We are considering bringing over to map tour the same toggle that already exists for other maps that allows you to disable all navigation. If this happens, I agree with @NicoleJohnson that this should not be thought of as a "security feature" to obfuscate exact locations; it would be more for authors to tailor the experience for readers. ... @JonathanMcD - Thanks for posting your questions about the behavior you are seeing when adding ArcGIS apps to StoryMaps. At this time, only apps shared with everyone are shown in the item browser you are referring to. The reason for this is because the ArcGIS StoryMaps builders do not yet have sharing checks for apps and their content. However, with the recent addition of tracking of these types of item dependencies and relationships in ArcGIS (see Discover How Your Layers, Scenes, Maps, and Apps Connect), we are actively working on bringing these types of checks to ArcGIS StoryMaps and plan to include publicly-shared items here in an update coming later this year. For now, if you want to embed an app that is not shared with everyone, you can use the Embed block and paste in the app's URL (as it seems you and your colleagues have already been doing). Of course, the reader must have an ArcGIS account that has access to the app if it is not shared with everyone even if it is added to a StoryMap that is shared with everyone. They will be prompted to sign in to see the app. I also want to mention that there is no difference between adding an app via the ArcGIS app or Embed option, both behave exactly the same way once they are added. The ArcGIS app pathway just provides a way to browse your content and pick an item as opposed to having to find its link/URL. > As can be seen in the below screenshot, even when filtering by a specific group and type, the listing pulls back way more items than it should, but also completely omits certain dashboards, not all, and other elements. @ColinBergmann_ct - Oh, I almost forgot! We found a workaround you can use to get the behavior you are looking for if you don't want to wait until November. If you add a URL parameter to your Web Experience links you can "trick" the embedded app into thinking something has changed so it refreshes between consecutive slides. Parameters must be added before hashes (#) in a properly constructed URL. In the examples below I'm just adding a parameter of slide=1 to the first url and slide=2 to the second. We will continue to monitor this idea for votes to see if adding multiple images via URL fields in a feature layer is something more people want as we evaluate future enhancements to map tour.
