Hi Bill, In the spring we upgraded our download system to handle larger and more complex datasets. File creation time can take up to several hours when there are millions of records or very complex geometry. The new UI we are about to release will give users the option to download a previous version or create a new one, which will take some time. But there may a problem creating the dataset you're mentioning due to other circumstances or the file type. Can you provide a link to large dataset that you've had issues with?

Not necessarily since I am able to reproduce the issue. Content owners have several options to try and fix downloads that don't work, but we will look into this issue. I apologize that I do not have a solution at the moment.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I'm not sure that this is a Hub-specific issue and sounds more like a permission issue when viewing the ArcGIS Online Metadata editor. However, please feel free to email me at thervey@esri.com with the two accounts you're trying to edit metadata with so I can take a closer look.

Thanks for the update. I have filed a bug for your KML issue and an engineer is looking into it right now. Regarding long download times, this can be expected because new files need to be created once an update is made. Unfortunately the UI is a bit misleading because before a download can complete, a file needs to be created, which can take a long time in some cases. Be on the lookout for the new download UI within a week or so. It'll be a beta setting under site settings and there will be a blog post reviewing the changes. Also, next time you run into an issue with one of the other datasets, please let me know. Thanks, Thomas

Thanks for the link Nishant, we'll look into why the dataset table is not loading. This item is a Map Image Layer which can sometimes take a while to generate a download file, also sometimes there are issues with downloads from non-hosted services. Are you the owner of this item?

Thanks for the link. This looks like a file creation bug that we will look into. Have you had an issue with KML downloads for items that are published initially without a M or Z value?

If I understand you correctly, you're probably getting a static view of the existing metadata by clicking the 'View Metadata' link on a dataset page (see the screenshot below). Is that correct? You can access the ArcGIS Online item details page (and the metadata editor) under a Hub item's edit route. If you have edit access, click the edit pencil on a dataset view, and you'll be taken to the Hub metadata editor. From there, click the more '...' menu and click 'Edit in ArcGIS Online'. Is this what you're looking for?

Hi Alyssia, do you have a particular dataset that is giving you troubles that I could look into? We are just about to release a new UI that will alert users to the status of download files as well as if there is a fresher version that needs time to create. This can often be the reason you see a 'hanging' download since on our end a new file is being created. Thanks, Thomas

Hi Bill, Thanks for your question. This is good feedback as we are currently working on making it easier in Hub to edit metadata, update terms of use, upload content, and we have plans to make metadata configurable based on profiles so that you can conform your data to a standard. Currently, there is no way to associate a metadata standard with an initiative. We are building out the metadata editor (found at /:id/edit), but there are no profiles for standards yet. It sounds like the best way to accomplish the editing you need is through the metadata editor on an item's detail page on ArcGIS Online. Hub will pull down metadata from ArcGIS Online for an item. Just to be clear, are you able to access the metadata editor for an item on ArcGIS Online?

Hi again Steve, The data.json endpoint is automatically created and will be when you migrate your site. It displays only datasets that are public. data.json is formatted by a DCAT template editable at <your-site-url>/content/edit/dcat. You can access it from the more '...' menu under the content library. You may see a 404 because there aren't any public datasets yet. The endpoint takes several minutes to create. We don't have any docs specifically on this endpoint, but the DCAT editor has a preview tab that helps show what the endpoint will look like for example datasets, and here are details on how to federate your data with /data.json. Also note that this week we are making a few changes to update the template so that it complies with DCAT-UI 1.1.

Thanks for checking back. This was not fixed during the UI updates that went out. There is work scheduled for this week fix several DCAT issues including correcting 404s for license endpoints and update the links to HTTPS.

Hi Melanie, I'm sorry that you're having this issue. When you unshare and then reshare an item publicly, Hub indexes the item and creates download files, so this is a fallback solution. We've recently introduced an option to manually recreate download files. Take a look under an item's edit route and under the more '...' menu you'll find an option to 'recreate download files'. It's a new feature so feedback is welcome.

Hi Lisa, I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. You should be able to see autosuggestions when you type. Are you able to get any results when you add a single tag? I would suggest that you test by adding a tag query for a single item that appears in your site's search results. Sites created on Portal support tag queries just like Hub sites.
