Hi Ashley, You are looking in the right place. But it is actually the user role, not the user type, that will control this. In ArcGIS Online, click your username in the top-right corner. Click My settings. Click Licenses. Here you can see what role you have: You'll need a Publisher or Administrator role (or a custom role with analysis permissions) before you can access the analysis tools. You'll have to contact your administrator and ask them to change your role. They can do that with these steps: Click the Organization tab Click the Members tab. Find your account in the members list and use the drop-down menu in the Role column to change your role. Here's more information about User types, roles, and privileges. When analysis tools are available, they will appear here: I hope that helps! Heather

Hi Jacob, Thanks for asking this question! Learn ArcGIS and Esri Academy work together, but are different resources, and are built and maintained by different teams. The primary difference is in our target audiences: Learn ArcGIS is mainly directed at people who are trying out a GIS product or workflow for the first time. This could be students who are completely new to GIS, or experienced professionals who want to explore a new area of GIS. Esri Academy (Esri Training) is mainly directed at existing customers who want to gain deeper or more comprehensive knowledge. All of the material on Learn ArcGIS is available for free and without an account. We offer free trial accounts so anyone can access the software in order to try the lessons. The lessons on Learn ArcGIS are developed with a slightly different style than traditional courses. They demonstrate the use of the software through real-world examples. Esri Academy offers a mixture of free and fee-based materials, including instructor-led courses, MOOCs, web courses, and training seminars. Esri Academy also awards certificates for course completion, and runs the Esri Technical Certification program. Long story short, I recommend you take advantage of both resources! Hopefully the descriptions above will help you better decide which library to search first when you want to learn something new.

Hi Michael, It sounds like you have multiple ArcGIS accounts: one that you were previously using to license ArcGIS Pro, and also a public one. Please sign out of the public account in Pro and sign back in with your other account. If you're not sure what your other account is, go to https://www.arcgis.com/, click Sign In, and click Forgot Username? You'll receive an email with all of your different account usernames. If you have multiple email addresses you may need to try a few different times. If you continue to have problems, see I am having problems signing into or licensing ArcGIS Pro.

Hi Leigh, Check out some of the lessons on Learn ArcGIS. Here is a filtered view that might have some things that are relevant to you: https://learn.arcgis.com/en/gallery/#?t=lesson&c=spatialanalysis These are all step-by-step tutorials but going through them should give you some ideas of projects you can take on, and will also introduce you to datasets that you can adapt to a similar workflow to build up your portfolio. Without knowing what kind of analytical projects you have in mind, I'll recommend a few here: Investigate Pollution Patterns with Space-Time Analysis Estimate Solar Power Potential Determine How Location Impacts Interest Rates Analyze Urban Heat Using Kriging Explore NOAA's Deep-Sea Coral Database If you're not familiar with Living Atlas, you should check it out, because you can find lots of really useful data there. The lesson Get Started with ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World is an introduction to the different resources available with Living Atlas and the different ways they can be accessed and put to use.

Hi, For your use case, I would recommend using the Kernal Density geoprocessing tool instead. Heat Map symbology is good for quick and dynamic visualization. But for reliable and defensible density analysis, the tool will give you more control. In Heat Map symbology, the radius searches a set distance, rather than for a certain number of nearby points. This distance, as Edie described, is in screen units (points), rather than map units (meters, feet, etc). Just as with other symbology methods (Single symbol, graduated colors, etc) when you set the size to 10 points and zoom in and out, that size is relative to the screen, not the ground/map. So you can think of radius as the symbol size. If radius is set to 25, the radius of the heat map "blob" around each point will be 25 points. Here is an image that helps to visualize it. It shows the same point data symbolized twice, first with heat map, and then with point symbols that have 25pt long lines attached to them: The more points there are within the 25 pt radius, the denser the area, and the darker (depending on the color scheme) the color is drawn. Unfortunately, I don't know the specifics of how points relate to map units. Since one is tied to the screen and the other to the ground, it would vary at every scale. If this kind of control is needed for your map, I recommend using the Kernal Density tool instead. Heat Map symbology is based on the Kernal Density algorithm.

Hi Robert, Please see the answer to your question on our FAQ page: Q: I am having problems signing into or licensing ArcGIS Pro. For example, if you see one of the following messages: "The username you entered is not a member of this organization" "Your account could not be used to authorize ArcGIS Pro because it is an ArcGIS Public Account." "Invalid username or password. ArcGIS Pro wants to access your ArcGIS Online account information" "The number of licenses assigned to the user exceeds the number available in my organization." A: Click Configure your licensing options. Set License type to Named User License. Choose ArcGIS Online and set the URL to https://www.arcgis.com/ Tips: If you have another ArcGIS account that is also licensed for ArcGIS Pro, you can sign in with this account instead. If you have multiple ArcGIS accounts, you can link them together. This will make switching between accounts easier. I see that you are a member of our Learn ArcGIS organization and will also reach out to you by email to make sure you were able to sign in.

Hello Melanie, Unfortunately I can't see the map you are referencing, but I think I know what you are looking for. The trick is to apply the color before the size. For Primary Symbology, choose Unique Values. For Field 1, choose the string field (for example political party). At the top of the Symbology pane, click the green Vary symbology by attribute button. Expand the Size section. For Field, choose a numeric field (for example number of votes) Check the Enable size range box. Adjust the Minimum and Maximum sizes to suit your map.

GeoNet is a community forum where Esri customers and staff ask questions and share knowledge. If you have a question related to ArcGIS, GeoNet is usually the fastest way to find an answer. 1. Go to the Learn ArcGIS GeoNet place. 2. Under Ask Learn ArcGIS, start typing your question. GeoNet will list existing questions that are similar to yours. Green questions are those that have been marked answered. 3. If one of the suggested questions looks like it will be helpful to you, click it to view the conversation. If not, click the Ask my question button instead. A new form opens. 4. Type a description of your question. Your question is more likely to be answered quickly and correctly if it is specific. What product are you using? (ArcGIS Online, Portal, ArcGIS Pro, StoryMaps, etc) Can you include a screenshot? These are especially helpful to describe error messages or tool parameters. Is this question related to a lesson or tutorial? If so, include a link to that site. 5. Scroll down to Publish Location. Currently, your question will be posted in the Learn ArcGIS place. 6. If you want to post it in another place instead, click Change. Search for keywords (for example raster, public safety, python) that are relevant to your question. If you find one you like, click it to post in that place instead of Learn ArcGIS. Note: GeoNet has lots of places for different Product, Industry, and Developer Communities. Posting in the most appropriate space can increase the likelihood that it will be seen and answered. 7. Click Post. When someone has replied to your question, you'll receive an email. 8. In the email, click View the full discussion, or View the full reply to open the conversation in GeoNet. 9. If the reply was helpful, click Yes. If you want to reply to the person helping you, click Reply. 10. If a reply correctly answered your question or solved your problem, please click the Mark Correct button at the top of the reply. Marking a problem as correct or helpful helps other people find the right answer faster when they are searching for an answer to their own question. There's a lot more you can do with GeoNet. Check out the GeoNet Resource Hub to learn more.

The top option, "Runtime" is what's needed to run ArcGIS Pro. You will need to have privileges to install it on your computer. If you do not, please ask your computer support provider for help. Q: When I try to run ArcGIS Pro, I get the error "time stamp invalid." What do I do? A: If you see this error, the issue is that your computer’s time is not correct. Here’s how to reset it. Do note that your version of Windows might be a bit different. Click the Windows “Start” button. Click “Control Panel.” Choose “Clock, Language and Region.” Click “Date and Time.” Click “Change Time Zone” button. From the Time Zone drop-down menu, choose your time zone [e.g., California -> Pacific Time (US & Canada)]. Check the “Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time” option. Click “OK.” Now choose “Internet Time” column. Click “Change Settings.” Check the “Automatically synchronize with an internet time server” option. From the “Server” drop-down menu, choose “time.windows.com.” Click “Update Now.” Click “Apply.” Click “OK.” Launch ArcGIS Pro. Q: When I try to run ArcGIS Pro, I see an error: "Unable to establish a connection to https://www.arcgis.com." What do I do? A: There are few different things that may cause this error. 1) This could be related to the TLS patch roll-out in April 2019. If so, you may need to update a security setting. Open your computer's Control Panel. Choose Internet Options. Click Internet Properties > Advanced tab > Security. Look at TLS 1.1 or 1.2. If they are not checked, please check the respective boxes to turn them on. Try to run ArcGIS Pro again. 2) It is possible that a firewall or antivirus is blocking access to ArcGIS Online. Please whitelist the following URLs in your firewall and antivirus: http://*.arcgis.com https://*.arcgis.com http://*.arcgisonline.com https://*.arcgisonline.com http://*.esri.com https://*.esri.com 3) Try resetting your Internet Explorer settings as discussed here. Q: When I try to open a project in ArcGIS Pro, I see the error: "failed to load system tool." How can I fix it? A: This is related to how Python is set up on your computer. The solution can be found here. Q: ArcGIS Pro is not rendering my map. My computer fan is on continuously. What should I do? A: This is related to your graphics card and how it's rendering the map. You may also see this message: "Changes in your graphics hardware detected. Close and reopen your map views to continue." First, try changing the display engine currently being used by ArcGIS Pro. Sometimes one works better than the other. On the ribbon, click the Project tab. Or, if you are on the welcome screen, click the Settings button. Click the Options tab, then click the Display tab. If it's currently set to DirectX, switch to OpenGL, or vice versa. Open or return to your project and see if the display is better. If not, you can return to the original setting. Second, if the change of display engine didn't help, you may want to see if there is a newer driver for your graphics card: Search in Windows for Device Manager. Expand Display adapters and note the name of the graphics card (e.g. NVIDIA Quadro K620) Go to the manufacturer's website (e.g. nvidia.com) and find that graphics card model Download and install the latest driver version for your specific card How can I access my content after August 31? Q: How can I save content that's in my Learn ArcGIS account at the end of August? A: To save your content, you’ll need to copy the content into a different account such as an ArcGIS for Personal Use license or public account, or save locally. To copy content to another account, there are three options: 1) ArcGIS Online Assistant, 2) GeoJOBE Admin tools, 3) ArcGIS API for Python. This post explains more options for saving work created in a Learn ArcGIS account. Q: How do I copy content from my Learn membership to my Personal Use account? A: Currently there are three ways to copy content from one organization to another - 1) ArcGIS Online Assistant, 2) GeoJOBE Admin tools, 3) ArcGIS API for Python. This post explains more options for saving work created in a Learn ArcGIS account.
