GeoNet is a community forum where Esri customers and staff ask questions and share knowledge. If you have a question related to ArcGIS, GeoNet is usually the fastest way to find an answer.

1. Go to the Learn ArcGIS GeoNet place.

2. Under Ask Learn ArcGIS, start typing your question.

GeoNet question bar

GeoNet will list existing questions that are similar to yours.

Green questions are those that have been marked answered.

3. If one of the suggested questions looks like it will be helpful to you, click it to view the conversation. If not, click the Ask my question button instead.

A new form opens.

4. Type a description of your question. Your question is more likely to be answered quickly and correctly if it is specific.

  • What product are you using? (ArcGIS Online, Portal, ArcGIS Pro, StoryMaps, etc)
  • Can you include a screenshot? These are especially helpful to describe error messages or tool parameters.
  • Is this question related to a lesson or tutorial? If so, include a link to that site.

5. Scroll down to Publish Location.

Currently, your question will be posted in the Learn ArcGIS place.

6. If you want to post it in another place instead, click Change. Search for keywords (for example raster, public safety, python) that are relevant to your question. If you find one you like, click it to post in that place instead of Learn ArcGIS.

Note: GeoNet has lots of places for different Product, Industry, and Developer Communities. Posting in the most appropriate space can increase the likelihood that it will be seen and answered.

7. Click Post.

When someone has replied to your question, you'll receive an email.

8. In the email, click View the full discussion, or View the full reply to open the conversation in GeoNet.

9. If the reply was helpful, click Yes. If you want to reply to the person helping you, click Reply.

10. If a reply correctly answered your question or solved your problem, please click the Mark Correct button at the top of the reply.

Marking a problem as correct or helpful helps other people find the right answer faster when they are searching for an answer to their own question.
