When creating a Map Tour from an existing data source (i.e., Start with a feature service), it would be nice to have the option for the tour's map to use the existing style of the hosted feature layer. For example, you might be building a Map Tour of points of interest of different types in a park or at a field site, and you've styled the layer to use different symbols for different types of POIs. You want to have those symbols used in the Map Tour, rather than the default pins, as they help easily convey information about the POI.

I will add that we too are observing this kind of siloed user experience being detrimental to people understanding ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps. They may "get it", for StoryMaps, the day they go through a tutorial, however, they are often challenged on how to proceed again in the short term, and how to leverage other components of ArcGIS Online in the long run. The current user experience develops an unfortunate perception and disconnect among our users that all they can do is work inside StoryMaps. Once the learn they can also access their stories directly from their ArcGIS Online content -- just like other content they may be working on, such as web maps, scenes, dashboards, insights workbooks, etc. -- then they are much more comfortable doing things, and better understand that StoryMaps is just piece of an overall picture; and a piece that can bring together other types of content they can generate. A common observation is confusion around what the "filtered" view of their content -- showing just their stories -- is supposed to achieve. This is especially true when their story involves other types of ArcGIS Online content. And, a common question is, "why can't I start a new storymap or web map from 'New item' in My Content?" Often paired with observations like, "content is where all of my stuff is stored," or "content is where I create other kinds of ArcGIS Online content." If one ditched the current StoryMap landing page, then it seems like the functionality that would need to be moved -- perhaps under New item in their content, or by clicking on the ArcGIS StoryMap app in the picker -- would be to choose between creating a new story, briefing, collection, or theme, and then proceeding directly with such. This kind of user experience, shared by other tools too, enforces a siloed view of the system that might match development team structures, however, it appears to use to hinder usability.

@jcarlson , @Tim_Shapiro the notebook is shared with everyone, however, the link provided is for running the Notebook. That means ArcGIS needs to check that you have to have the ability to run Notebooks on an ArcGIS Online organization, so you get directed to an authentication workflow. The workaround is to provide a URL to the Notebook's Overview tab on its Item Details page, which doesn't require any special privileges. You also need to use www.arcgis.com, instead of your own org, kendall.maps.arcgis.com. Try this URL to access the notebook: https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=2967bae3767640038a6841714784d44c#overview This permits anyone to Preview or Download the Notebook, even if they don't have permission to run Notebooks on their own ArcGIS Online org.

@JesseCloutier in terms of temporary workarounds what I currently do is google, e.g., "arcgis online ideas storymaps". Usually the top link returned will take you directly to the product's Ideas place. In some scenarios, however, both googling and your workaround are not helpful. For example, if I'm not exactly sure of what a product name is, or if I'm looking for a product that is unexpectedly lumped under another product. Seeing the complete list would help me sort that out easily and quickly. For example, using your approach, if I enter "Map Viewer" in the overall search and then click on Places, I get 0 results. For "FieldMaps" you get 0 results, but for "Field Maps" you can get to the right place. It is hard to infer what the correct thing is by searching, as no results doesn't mean you're wrong. Looking through a complete list, however, is a fully constrained exercise. If I don't see Map Viewer itself listed, then I know I should look under another product. If I'm looking for Field Maps, then I will find it in the list, regardless of whether it is listed as FieldMaps or Field Maps.

It is also frustrating, when you are using a large, high resolution monitor, that the page has a bunch of blank space after the last item, and that the drop-down to change items-per-page is off the bottom of the screen, so that you have to scroll down to it.

I would suggest this is part of a larger disconnect between how people expect groups and content to work, and the current ArcGIS Online implementation. Most of our users are confused by the limited, two-level structure of Content. They expect to be able to treat content like a regular file system, and have as many levels of folders as they need. When it comes to a group's Content, they expect the group's content to be in a folder they can navigate to in their content. Similar to what they do in shared file-systems, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox, Box, etc. So, as this post suggests, if they opened an item from their Content when viewing a directory listing of their group's folder, then they expect to be returned to the same view of Content.

Location Tracking breaks in various ways when the administrative user account that enabled Location Tracking for their ArcGIS Online organization has its role changed from Administrator to just Publisher. I would not expect changes to an individual user account to break organization-level things, like Location Tracking, when you have multiple users sharing the responsibility of administering the system. Please change Location Tracking so that the all users with the Administrator role (or perhaps the subset of users who have the appropriate privilege to enable/disable Location Tracking) can share all responsibilities for managing Location Tracking. And, so that users can be added/removed from that set of users, without impacting the functionality, nor their remaining colleagues ability to continue administering the functionality.

It would be very helpful to have a way to quickly find the Idea place for a product, as @lmurrayADOT notes. When I go to the Browse All Idea Exchanges page, I would like to have a search option to type in a product name, such as "StoryMaps" to find its Idea Exchange. Alternatively, since there are currently only 94 Idea Exchanges, display them all on one page, so I can use my browser's built-in search capability to find the right place in the text of the page.

The lines that shape our cities nicely illustrates the aspect of self-hosting as it relates to hosting custom CSS and JavaScript along side the StoryMap in which you are embedding it. In other words, hosting both the story and embedded custom code on the same domain. In this specific case, since it is an Esri authored StoryMap, they appear to have access to the storymaps web server to host their embedded custom code (i.e., https://storymaps.esri.com/stories/2020/redlining-timeline/timeline-horizontal.js) As far as I know, the rest of us don't have access to similarly post custom code to the storymaps web server. So self-hosting would be an avenue to enable us to host our storymap and our embedded custom code on the same domain.

You are on the right-track. It was added using an Embed block in the story. In this specific story, the embed is hosted on the storymap web server; an option only available to Esri as far as I know. You would have to host your horizontal timeline code on your own webserver. An example of how to build a horizontal timeline with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can be found here. Once you've built your own, and hosted it on your own web server, then you can embed it into your StoryMap using an Embed block.

Its not drag-and-drop, however, perhaps you're thinking of the Notebook's content browser, from which adding an item generates such code? See Add content to the notebook.

Sometimes a user sets up a Field Maps project, goes into the field, and while they are collecting data, discovers they could use another field. Maybe they forget to add a particular field during their initial setup, or maybe as they were gathering data they realized there as an additional parameter they want to record. If all they have with them is the smartphone on which they are running Field Maps, then it is not easy to get to ArcGIS Online and add a new field to their feature layer. For instance, on an iOS device, even if they use "Request desktop site" in a web browser, there does not seem to be a way to get the "+Add" button for fields to appear in the Item Details view of a feature layer (Data --> Field.) Nor can one add fields in the ArcGIS Companion app. It would be great if one could add new fields to a feature layer directly from the Field Maps app. There would presumably be some limitations, such as only being able to add a new field when working online, not being able to add a new field if offline replicas of the feature layer exist, perhaps being stuck with a default visualization style, etc.

As an ArcGIS Online organization with over 10,000 users, our Administrators do not have the bandwidth to track what everyone is doing, nor micromanage privileges and credits. Instead we give people full access to ArcGIS Online capabilities so they can choose to do what they need to do, and we rely on credit allocations to ensure reasonable use. A critical shortcoming of this approach, however, is that credits consumed for storage are not currently tracked by user. So a user's credit allocation does not provide a way to limit their usage of storage. Tracking storage credits per user (based on the owner of an item), and applying the current credit allocation functionality, or a new, seperate storage credit allocation functionality would be great. (Since we leave it up to our users to decide how they are going to best use resources, the former -- having a single credit allocation per user -- would be our preference.)
