I am unable to offer Windows as that is not supported at this time. Currently we are not using Navigator beyond our trial yet and we are hoping to use it on Android. If we must switch or jump-shift to iOS then I would suppose now is the time to make the switch. However, if you're saying that we'll have what we need on Android in a couple of weeks, then I'll make the case to wait. We have lots of other work to also do in order to successfully implement this new program workflow. So in short, we will only be using this on Android as part of our workflow, when the functionality becomes available for Android (couple of weeks).

Excellent . I am sharing this conversation with our Transportation Unit and will suggest that we should follow your advice and wait for this while we continue to develop the data and database application. Please keep us posted with any new updates regarding this technology, thanks again!

Thanks so much for the reply Brent Pierce Can you tell me if the release coming for Android in a couple of weeks would include support for the Create an app link—Navigate | ArcGIS ? I am attempting to develop a workflow with our Transportation Unit using Android. If I cannot import solved network analyst stops/routes from ArcMap desktop and I cannot create an app link, then in that case I would consider switching to iPad (much to my chagrin). However, if what I'm looking for will be available in the up and coming weeks, then in that case we can wait it out a bit while we further develop the work flow. I'd be grateful for any further insights you may be able to provide, thanks much either way.

I would like to add stops to Navigator on my Android device. I'm all loaded up with ArcNavigator and it is working well on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A. The following is the format for iOS to launch ArcNav when texted or emailed a location's coordinate pair. arcgis-navigator://?stops=Esri,34.056240,-117.195563,FinalStop,34.0546095717725,-117.188605796717&start=Starting,34.0607085505041,-117.200060816739&navigate=false Shoot, even my Windows 10 Surface Book recognized that this app link needed ArcNavigator to be installed from the Windows store...and it isn't even available from the Windows Store. Clicking on the link in the message window yields a "no app available" message. There must be a way, does anyone know what that way is? Many thanks to Jake Skinner for providing the app link information.

Will there be the video recordings available from the UC presentations, or will these just be the slide shows and presentation materials?

Rather than export to ASCII text file, use the Export Model (either top menu or right-click on model), export to ESRI Shapefile Sample 3D. This will reduce the above process by a step, unless you need the output to be a feature class opposed to a shapefil

In my original post Fishnet An Irregular Shape While Specifying The Number Of Divisions? I reviewed the Fishnet tool and how I used it in order to split a handicap little league outfield into fifteen thousand equal areas. I would like to see this tool further developed to allow the user (me) to either 1-enter in the irregularly shaped polygon feature to be split (on the feature boundary and not the feature extent) and (2- enter an acceptable range of 'equal' areas or 3- enter how many areas the user would like the irregular shape roughly split into). This could probably be done in Python or more conveniently as an idea for a software revision request. Anyway, the plan that was prepared and shown in my previous blog post was executed as presented, and was used to commemorate the lives of fifteen thousand soldiers from New Jersey. See the following links and attachments to view the final result. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4253889699001/touching-tribute-to-nations-fallen-heroes/?playlist_id=2114913880001#sp=show-clips https://www.facebook.com/deanna.crawfordbraun/videos/10206864398306323/?pnref=story https://www.facebook.com/SkyExposure/videos/1437076446596811/

This will simply put the data into a GIS format that contains complete attribution from everything that was in the CAD file. Without the spatial reference existing on the CAD side, the features will simply be converted to a shapefile. You can then use the GIS tools within ArcMap to manually move and rotate the features to their appropriate location, save them, and then export them to your final geodatabase feature class. Its one way anyhow, probably not the most elegant, but when you need it RIGHT NOW, it has worked well for me. Honestly I've often wonder why ESRI doesn't embed something like this within their suite...maybe they did and I missed it, that is entirely possibly too.

It is not exactly in the spirit of the question as you asked it, but another potential alternative could be the CAD2Shp software solution. They have got a not obligation trial available for download that might suite your needs CAD2Shape: Convert AutoCAD DWG / DXF to ESRI Shape (.shp)

So apparently I was originally on the right-track to export the points with within QT Modeler using the 'Export Model(s)' menu. It went awry for me when I did not first highlight the model that I wanted exported, honestly I didn't even know I was supposed to interact with the window (must not have been paying attention yesterday). I sent this to our friends at Applied Imagery and Mike replied with the message below. Thank you Mike, I appreciate your continued support. From: Mike @ appliedimagery.com Sent: Wednesday, May 06, 2015 11:47 AM To: 'Matthew Duffy' Subject: RE: Point Export Matt, I just tried and it worked well for me. Here are my steps: Load point into QT (in your case, import and filter for class 2 (not return 2)) Once loaded, use selection polygon to draw your area of interest Then, click the crop button on the toolbar (blue square) Now, go to EXPORT > EXPORT MODEL DATA – choose ESRI SHAPEFILE SAMPLED 3D and make sure the point cloud file is highlighted as shown below Once exported, the resulting 3D shapefile can be opened directly in Arc products (image of QT and ArcScene with loaded data below). I looked around briefly this morning and was trying to determine how to get the class two bare earth point locations, for a specific area, into a point feature class (from QT Modeler to my project file geodatabase). My goal for this part of the project is to symbolize spot elevations based on elevations taken from the las file. From within QT Modeler I used the Z-poly tool to first define my area of interest and then right-clicked to access the 'Export Point' menu. After activating the 3D Analyst extension, I was able to execute the 'ASCII 3D to Feature Class' tool and specified the feature class and input projection and coordinate system at the bottom This gave me a Z enabled point feature class that contained 15816 point features In order to symbolize by elevation, I will need the implicit Z values to be stored explicitly in the table. 'Add Z Information' tool menu: Now I have all that I need for this aspect of the project, but its a dog and draws like a slow moving beast. In order to reduce the high level of redraw torture time, 'Dissolve': Now my redraw time is a snap and I have all that I need for this aspect of the elevation project requirements.

A local handicap children's baseball league is celebrating Memorial Day by covering their outfield with fifteen thousand flags (small ~4" American Flags on a wooden stick). They requested that I devise a placement plan that maps each flagposts placement location. I remembered the fishnet command and searched around the community forums to see if there was a better way, as I have not attempted this in quite some time. The fishnet command is a tool that currently resides in Data Mgmt Tools>Feature Class>Create Fishnet. When you run it, it gives you the option to use an extent template, but it uses the feature layer's extent and not feature boundary. CreateFishNet1.PNG When you run the command, you see that you are basically left to adjust the rows and columns until you get to a point where you are successful in attaining the appropriate number of equally divided areas, over only the outfield (irregularly shaped area). CreateFishNet2.PNG and CreateFishNet3.PNG I ran this tool eight times before achieving the desired amount of area divisions, but it still wasn't exact. I would like a tool that would run this process and allow me to select the shape feature to divide and the number of divisions (here 15,000). Even if I built a tool for this, I do not believe that I will be able to specify the number of divisions desired and will only get so close. I wonder if there is a tool set I'm missing? When I researched this issue in the forums, it seemed like maybe the Parcel Fabric Toolset would sort of do something similar to this, but not exactly. This is my first blog post and I am not sure if this is only for me or for the general user community. If it is the later, I'd love to hear any suggestions regarding how to divide an irregular shape divided into a specified number of equal areas.

As I continued to research my issue, I found the suggestion several times to simply set the symbology on the desired value and then to something differently when that value has changed. This can be done within ArcMap from the Symbology Tab under Show: Categories (or Quantities depending on your needs). However, when I would set this it would not keep the definition query and draw all the points, instead of working as it did when I first attempted this. I beleive the first time I attempted this the data was in shapefile format and that they may have been the key difference. I looked more closely at my data and I then realized that when my database was first set up (not by my office) that the Personal Geodatabase format was employed and not the File Geodatabase format. When I switched file formats of the data, I than changed my definition query to only query those points located in 'NORTHFILED' and I set the symbology to be on the Date field. When the Date field is null the point is green, when the value of the Date field changes, it then switches to red. Although I did not attempt to employ the compound definition query, as per my originally posted question, this is working as anticipated now by changing file formats and employing symbology based on Date field values.

I would like to symbolize dynamically using a Date field and am having trouble. ArcPad will not differentiate on the date field, but it works for other attributes. The layer that is employed is a file geodatabase feature class. I think it may have worked with the date field for symbolization when it was in shapefile format, but now it is not working as a feature class. It only draws the points for Northfield, but does not observe the date field parameter. However, it looks good with ArcMap. Here is an example of some of the definition querries I've attempted: [MUN] = 'NORTHFIELD' AND [DATE_] IS NOT NULL [MUN] = 'NORTHFIELD' AND [DATE_] IS NULL Should I not be using [] brackets or something? These work well in ArcMap but do not translate into ArcPad and what I end up getting is two layers that draw all of the points only within Northfield. Within ArcMap, when the [DATE_] field has a date entered, the point feature turns red, all points are drawn twice in ArcPad.
