Hi Maria, this idea is categorized under ArcGIS Pro, but I want to confirm that you need the symbols for ArcMap? We can create new ArcGIS Pro symbols, but they will not work in ArcMap.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately sometimes horizontal real estate is just as scarce as vertical real estate in the Contents pane. Do you think having some sort of "hover" for the symbol preview would work for this instead? In that mode you wouldn't be able to see all symbols at once, but you could compress the layers and just hover to see some symbols. Let me know if you think that would be a sufficient improvement.

Hi Jacob, Esri does not have a repository of ArcMap (*.style) files. Many organizations make theirs available on their sites though. A web search may unearth some for you. There are a number of styles installed with ArcMap that might make good starting points. Take a look at Conservation, Environmental, Forestry for starters. You can also create your own symbols using font glyphs. Edie

Hello Neil, and welcome to ArcGIS Pro! Here are a few of the relevant help topics to provide some background as you work through the tutorials: Symbolize feature layers—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Symbols—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Find symbols—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Modify symbols—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation You might be interested in this offering from Esri Press: https://esripress.esri.com/display/index.cfm?fuseaction=display&websiteID=397&moduleID=0 And, it's still a way off but you might be interested in this free 6-week MOOC. It's offered again in February. https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/596e584bb826875993ba4ebf/cartography./ Edie

Hello Chad, One of the system styles included in the installation of ArcGIS Pro is called ColorBrewer Schemes (RGB). The schemes in it that are color blind friendly are tagged as such. When you review this style in a Catalog view, you can search on "color blind", and those schemes will be returned. To search, open the style in a Catalog view, ensure the Details Panel is open (View tab, Options group), and enter your search in the bar at the top of the Details Panel. Also included in the installation is a CMYK version of these schemes. If you need to work in CMYK instead, add this style: Insert tab, Styles group > Add > Add System Style > Expand Colors and Color Schemes > check the CMYK style. Edie

Hi Maria. If you are working in ArcGIS Pro, importing SVG files is preferable to building glyphs in a font. You'll want to use the "shape marker from file" option when you build marker symbol layers in your point symbols. See this topic: Marker symbol layers—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation You may also want to check https://esri-styles.maps.arcgis.com/home/gallery.html to see if there are any symbols that have what you need, that you can use as a starting point. Learn more about working with styles in ArcGIS Pro here: Styles—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Add styles to a project—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation Manage styles—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation If the symbols you need are commonly used in your industry and you have a good specification to follow, you can add a request to have the style built by Esri by submitting an idea at ArcGIS Ideas Edie

Hi David. I am having a hard time either reproducing or understanding your example. In your example, do you have the imagery and the parcels combined together into a group layer? And the group layer is transparency 75% and the parcels 0% transparency? If so, I can't reproduce in ArcMap. With this scenario, the parcels are still partially transparent. But maybe I am not understanding what you've set up.
