It seems one cannot authorize with both AGOL and Portal named license at the same time after buying the desktop which includes an organizational AGOL subscription and ArcGIS Enterprise with Portal for ArcGIS. I have to choose wheter to use one or the other. Good to know. I'll stick with AGOL in this case. Just to clarify: I am not saying that one cannot authorize with both AGOL and Portal for ArcGIS. This is specific for my very case. Thanks!

I am having troubles in doing what the tilte says. Basically, I am following the instructions as in this help page, but I am stuck at point 5. There's no trace of "ArcGIS Pro (for Portal use)" under Product Type list in my myesri portal. This is blocking me to going on with the other steps. Any idea?

Xander Bakker ha scritto: why you say it is not applicable in your case Well, it's a matter of how my app which serves the GIS data through web is designed. I am not the developer and the "web map" is not the traditional map where you can make changes easily as in (e.g.) ArcGIS Online. Rather, I (more like, "the deveolpers I am working with) should make changes in the code, and this is not what the customers (and the developers) want, as this feature should be working as in desktop (ArcMap). Anyway, the idea of creating two featureclasses is feasible and could probably be the most suitable workaround. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll accept the answer as I'll try it.

Hi xander_bakker. Thanks for the suggestion. This would be a good workaround, but unfortunately not applicable in my case. I would really need the Relationship Class functionality to work the way it is suposed to, which is the same as in ArcMap.

HI, I recently published a MapService with a Relationship Class in it. The Relationship Class links the attributes of two Feature Classes (let's call them A and B). B is referenced in my publication mxd as two separate layers, each with a specific definition query (let's call these layers B_lyr1, and B_lyr2). Now, the problem is: after publishing, from REST I can only see one of these layers in the Relationship Class. Only the one which comes before in my Table of Content (namely B_lyr1) is visible, while there's no trace of B_lyr2. This is causing my app to show the related information of B from A only for the filtered B_lyr1, while the attributes in B_lyr2 are not accessible from the same Relationship Class. Is this a bug? The version of ArcMap I am using is 10.5,same for ArcGIS Server. To clarify, here is a scheme of what I see in REST (note that there's no mention of B_lyr2 under "Relation"): - A (0) - B_lyr1 (1) - B_lyr2 (2) Relation: A <-> B_lyr1

Hello, I'm trying to load an oracle view in an MXD with Python command. Oracle view has over 500,000 lines and python take log time to load new Layer based on Oracle View, because it calculate layer extent. There's a way to set a default extent for the new layer to avoid extent recalculation? This recalculation happens adding Layer, opening MXD and publishing MXD to ArcGIS Server. I'm using Desktop and server 10.4.1. Thanks in advance..

Ok I was able to recover a "BUILTIN" security-config from another installation. Using that in place of mine did the trick for me too. I'll paste it here so that everybody could use it. Cheers. { "securityEnabled": true, "authenticationMode": "ARCGIS_TOKEN", "authenticationTier": "GIS_SERVER", "userStoreConfig": { "type": "BUILTIN", "properties": {} }, "roleStoreConfig": { "type": "BUILTIN", "properties": {} }, "sslEnabled": false, "httpsProtocols": "", "cipherSuites": "", "httpEnabled": true, "virtualDirsSecurityEnabled": false, "allowDirectAccess": true, "serverRole": "STANDALONE_SERVER" }

Thanks again for replying. I am probably a bit confuse about the terminology then. If I have an ArcGIS Server Workgroup, it probably means that my geodb is a workgroup, and thus that I can connect only via Add Database Server. Is it right? If so, how would I use db autentication rather than windows autentication to connect to it? Would I be able to do that or there's no way I can do i t with a workgroup db?

Thanks for the feedback. I don't have a SQL Express on a external domain right now to test it. Mine was just a question to understand the possibilities in advance, since I've tried in the past but with no success, and I don't want to waste my time doing something that is not possible. However, isn't the Database Connection supposed to work only for non-Express SQL Server? If it does work with Express as well, I should try it with database credentials. It would be nice if someone from ESRI would confirm/reject this scenario.

Hi everyboy, I'd like to know if one could connect to a SQL Server Express on a remote machine in a different domain from an ArcGIS Standard client using database autentication. I am asking this because in the ArcCatalog, under Database Servers->Add Database Connection I can only see the parameter of the instane of the SQL Server Express, but no credential parameters. Does it mean it only supports Windows Autentication? If it is so: can you please point me to a documentation where this is stated, and how can I connect to a SQL Server Express on a different domain if possible? I have ArcGIS Desktop Standard and ArcGIS Server Standard Workgroup 10.5.1. In the past, I've had some problems in doing so, that's why I came here to ask. Thanks in advance for clarifying.

With the advent of ArcGIS Pro, and since its intial release, many new developments have changed the way ESRI customers used to work. One of these are the licensing types one can use to authorize ArcGIS Pro. I'd like to clarify a few key points concerning the extensions which IMO are somehow obscured due to the rapid changes the platform has undergone. ArcGIS Pro from version 1.2 can be authorized with a named user license, which is linked to AGOL credentials and an annual maintenance (this is the deafault), or with the well known Single and Concurrent Use licenses. According to this technical article, ArcGIS Pro authorization numbers are different from ArcMap ones. Thus, one is supposed to go into my.esri and convert ArcGIS Pro named licenses to either Single or Concurrent Use (depending on which license has been purchased). This seems true for extensions as well. On the one hand, one obvious benefit of using named licenses is that it is possible to run up to three concurrent instances of ArcGIS Pro with the same AGOL credentials from three different machines. The only requirement is to be currently-on-maintenance. On the other hand if one does not annually maintain the license, one loses the right to use ArcGIS Pro (although it seems it is still possible to convert an expired named license to Single or Concurrent license). My questions are: Do the same rules apply to ArcGIS Pro extensions? If I purchase (e.g.) three Spatial Analyst extensions, it means I have purchased both three ArcGIS Desktop Spatial Analyst AND three ArcGIS Pro for Spatial Analyst? Are the purchased ArcGIS Pro extensions of 'named license' type by default? Can I use expired ArcGIS Pro extensions with currently-on-maintenance ArcGIS Pro? Thanks in advance for clarifying.

Thanks Mike Minami for the feedback. Indeed, I saw from the rest page of the tile service that labels should be drawn, and it is good that you pointed out it is not a problem related to AGOL. I will further investigate into the problem and come back to this thread with some news.

I attach the tpk (in the original post) and the link (here) to the tile service to hopefully give someone the possibility to further investigate on this problem. Maybe I am just missing something simple, but i just can't really tell why labels are not showing up. I also tried with another mxd with a different layer but with the same settings and the labels do show up... Hope this improve the chance to get help. thanks in advance! link: https://arcg.is/1ey1mT

I have created a Tile Layer from a Tile Package (tpk) created from ArcMap 10.4.1. The mxd from which the TPK was created from has a point layer with labels turned on. These labels have a scale range which shows them only when zoomed out beyond 1:5000. I can confinrm my labels appear only when zooming in more than 1:5000 in the mxd. I cannot see them in AGOL however. I tried different ways of publishing the Tile Layer, but none solved the issue so far: creating the TPK using Share As->Tile Package and uploading through AGOL "Add Item from computer" and then publishing it as Tile Layer. creatig the TPK using "Manage Tile Cache" and "Export Tile Cache" and then the same as in previous point. setting the scale range to "same as layer" and setting the layer visibility to 1:5000 All I get is a Tile Layer with everything showing fine except I don't see any label at all. I am on Italian language setting in my AGOL. Could this be the problem? I had another issue (not related to this one) which was caused by the Language setting. Will try to change language and will come back to this if I resolve. Thanks in advance for any help.
