Matt, Draw the raster using a classified symbology. choose the number of breaks, go under the Classify button, choose Data Exclusion, and exclude the values below the lowest level you wish to show, say 0-100. then, only values above 100 will be displayed. Alternatively, create a classed post, and set the range you do not want to show to have no fill. I hope this answers your question! Regards, Jim

what about 2 copies of the source (different names). Then use the Select by Location tool to select features from PolygonLayer1 source layer PolygonLayer2 and set the spatial selection method to "are completely within the source layer feature". Tinker with the search distance as necessary. Regards, Jim

the world data that comes with arcMap will have a file, but it may be too coarse for your needs. Have you done a simple search online? 1) http://www.gadm.org/country 2) http://www.diva-gis.org/gdata 3) http://www.mapcruzin.com/free-bhutan-maps.htm\ Do you need roads, rail, etc? Regards, Jim

This is because you are letting ArcMap decide the break points for your classification symbology. Take the layer with the highest value, and manually set the break points you want for all layers. When you have that configured, either save that as a lyr file and then import it for the symbology of the other layers, or choose import >> and select that first layer. This will keep the same class breaks, descriptions, and size for all your features. Regards, Jim

Intersect will cut your rail polylines with the polygons. You will still need to select the polylines that fall within each polygon, and total their length. Once they are intersected, you could do a spatial join to associate the sub basins with the rail lines, so you can do a summary on the basin ID, returning the sum of rail line lengths. Regards, Jim

You can also process this with the Hydrology toolset: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//009z0000004w000000 Regards, Jim

Alex, In your first code entry, you alternate the slash and backslash for the map document concatenation. For the legend update, you may need to do a refresh on the dataframe to show the changes. For the myPath variable in your last entry, you have an additional "\" at the end. Regards, Jim

Add the data multiple times to your map, and set the symbology based on the columns you are interested in. So point the first copy to set the symbology based on POP2000, the next copy in the table of contents to use POP2001, etc. No need to break the data apart. Regards, Jim

If you have access to the Spatial Analyst extension, use Extraction >> Extract Values to Points. It will retrieve either the cell center value under the point, or extrapolate the value based on actual location. Regards, Jim
