Thanks for responding Robert, The Event Table states it's Type is "Enterprise Geodatabase Table" Right-Clicking on the table in the Database folder has the "Make Default" greyed out, but then I just went back to check it again with this and allowed me to do so. I'm not finding anything about Project--> Databases in the layer properties at all. Just the "Set Data Source" under the Source tab in properties (see below). If this is what you are talking about, then I am getting the same 2 issues as previously mentioned. If not, I guess I'm a bit confused where to find the Project->Database in the Maps layer I'm trying to relink. Thanks

I noticed an older post from a few years back having the same issue, but there was never any resolution or explanation as to why on the original post https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-questions/arcgis-pro-2-1-and-earlier-layer-s-data-source-could-not-be/td-p/250834 I am updating a lot of our maps with a new SDE table that has the exact same fields as the old table, but just newer additions. I am encountering a few odd things here: First: When I try and "Set Data Source", the first thing that happens is for a brief time I can see all the LRS Event tables, but a few seconds later, the "Portal tab" expands and all the data is no longer visible. (see Portal Data Issue 1.jpg & Portal Data Issue 2.jpg). Second: If I act very quickly before the "Portal tab" expands, and manage to get into the actual LRS Events tables on SDE and select my table, I get an message stating "Layer's data could not be changed". This is something that is easily done in ArcMap, but not ArcPro. Any solutions or reasons this is occurring? It's kind of a pain having to re-add the new LRS Events table, and then duplicate it for every layer I want to update to the new table and import symbology for that and then change all the legends for all the layouts relating to that map if I fail to rename the newest data the same way... Note: I was not able to access this link at all which may help to explain some of these issues https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/data-management/data-management/arcgis-pro-tips-5-tips-for-fixing-broken-data-links/

I've got a simple map I'm working on and first time I've used a "Masking Layer" in Pro. I used to use this all the time in ArcMap without and issue, but Pro seems different. I have 2 layers. One layer is the mask that blocks out a portion of the geography that I don't want any data displayed and is of course higher on the TOC than the layer with the data. Everything is fine, until I label the 2nd layer (data layer). There the labels show in both the geography I want, as well as they also show in the mask layer as well. Is this a bug? Or is there something new that I'm not aware of with labels? (As you can see in the image I attached, the labels are displayed in the 2nd layer (taz.modeling.DBO.TAZ_2815), but I shouldn't be seeing them in the area shown in green as they should be hidden under the first layer (2035_State_Region_New layer)...

Thanks Wendy for looking into this. And first off, yes, I've made sure there are no offsets for the arrowheads. Everything about the arrowhead (position, offsets, etc) is just 0 or default. The only thing that has changed is the ESRI Arrowhead type and size as well as the line size. ISSUE 1 This happens with both the Simple Line and the Background as well as different styles. So might be an odd bug which I'll have to log. ISSUE 2 Yes I was using the Simple Line. I tried the Background and that did help with the addition of the Gap field. Though this now has issues as well. First one is that Issue 1 above is even worse with positioning and can be tricky because of this (see the lower row in the new jpg I attached). As for the gap, it works, however having a 5pt gap works well when the text and arrow are at angles and not (0, 90, 180, 270 deg), but when they aren't the arrow gets too close unless I then have to adjust the gap to 10pt and then it's fine (meaning if I then move that to an angle it becomes too much of a gap). I do think it's a better option using the Background, just still not ideal I guess. (All arrows are the same Format Line Symbol parameters, using 0 offset, position, etc and the same Callout parameters as well shown on the right)

I have some issue with text in a Layout when I activate the Leader Lines and create a dynamic arrow that follows the text when moved. ISSUE 1 First may be a tolerance bug in Pro. Seems when I move the text in relation to where the leader line is pointing, it's usually fine except when I'm at 0, 90, 180, 270 degree angles. There it sometimes doesn't center the leader line to the text, unless I shift it around a bit. The issue with this is there is such a tiny angle tolerance before it changes the position of the leader line to the corners, making some text look awkward. (see image: Issue 1 - Leaderlines Away From Text.jpg) Is there away to control the buffer of the leader line to the center of the text at all or is this just something that I just have to kind of live with? ISSUE 2 When I have leader line arrow pointing to the text (I don't have a problem when the leader line arrow is pointing away as in the example above), is there away to control the buffer between the center of the text and the leader line? Since I have an arrow, it gets way too close to the text. I can change the Position Offset X of the actual Arrow Shape Marker (in the Format Line Symbol for the leader line under the Callout section) and change it to 7pts in this example and it works, but if I change it any higher, the arrow itself moves too much onto the line Shape Marker making it look bad. Summary The big question is there something I'm missing that I can somehow control how close the leader line can get to the text at all (I've tried changing the Placement Position as well for the Text thinking there might be a trick here, but no luck)? I would think there was some anchoring parameter somewhere for the leader line in relation to the text, but I just can't seem to find anything... Thanks

Is there a way to recover or undo a deleted map from the Maps folder in a Project? It seems from my limited experience that when I try and delete a map that exists in a layout I get a warning, but if I accidentally delete a map that doesn't have a layout or I delete the wrong one, I don't get any "Are you sure" warnings and the map is just gone. Same question I guess for layouts, can those be brought back if accidentally deleted or do you have to recreate it from scratch again? Finally, is there any backups of a Pro Project at all you can do? Only way I can think of doing this is just to copy the entire Projects folder off the drive and zip that up, but wasn't sure if that even works correctly or if there is an easier thing in case someone (me or someone else) accidentally deletes maps or layouts? Thanks

There are some older posts discussing about the nudge functionality in the Layouts already, but I can't seem to find any very fine nudge option, say pixel size. ArcMap used to use I believe <Shift> and the arrow keys and move text in the layout pixel by pixel if I recall. In Pro the <Shift> now acts as a large nudge, and <CTRL> is smaller, but still not on the same level as the nudge that ArcMap had (which I seem to think it was the opposite of Pro and used <Shift>+Arrow in ArcMap). I'm sure there is an option in the settings somewhere to change the nudge tolerance, but wasn't sure if there was another key combination that would do the same thing at all?

I have imported an old *.mxd which has some broken LRS links, but it keeps the symbology I want. In ArcMap I could just go into the source for those layers and re-point them to the new links to preserve the symbology (at the expense of having to re-do any definition queries). I can't seem to do that though in Pro. I have imported the correct database LRS table into the map, and I have used the Make Route Event Layer, but I can't import the symbology at all from the broken LRS link since it states "There is no valid data", despite seeing the symbology in the Content Pane. Is there a way to either re-link the old imported broken LRS Layer? Or anyway I can import that Symbology over to the re-created LRS Event Layer I just made without having to go all the way back into ArcMap, relink everything in there and then import it to Pro?

I've actually taken the ArcPy course for Pro, it's just that I haven't had a chance yet to start using it yet. I have made some scripts in the past, nothing big, but I'll try and figure this situation out...

Yeah, it's going to take some work to go through your suggestion on how to do this. I just wish it would have been easier to just strip off text in the actual text box, or even alter what the PATH function shows a bit easier. Decades ago, I used old BASH commands to do this which was kind of easy...

Hey Tom, I think maybe that is the only way to do something like this then. Like you, I haven't done a lot in Python at all and I was hoping I could just do something within the text box itself, but maybe as you stated it might have to be done externally instead and then added into the Text Box somehow. I'll have to take a look at the links and such then and see if I can get that to work. Thanks...

Is there a possible way to alter the <dyn type="project" property="path"/> to somehow remove the first 2 characters it displays? When I use Path for Dynamic Text it displays it as an example as: T:\TestDrive\Project\Maplocation What I want is the path to not show the "T:" and only display \TestDrive\Project\Maplocation Is that possible at all? In our organization we have different drives by user so the Drive Letter can get confusing depending on how people have it mapped. We have a more standard naming convention we use that I can add in before the Path which I would use instead of having the drive letter...

In Arcmap while you were in Layout View, one could either use a Layout Zoom which would do what Arcgis PRO does and zooms the entire Layout including the map frame so you can get a closer look at things, which is fine. However, in ArcMap, you could also do a normal Zoom in which was a rectangle and there you could keep all the layout properties (legend, text, scale bar, etc) the exact same, but you could change the actual Map Frame you imported scale using the rectangle in case there was too much white space in the map. I can't seem to figure out how to do that as I know that rectangle zoom feature is no longer (there is a rectangle zoom out, but not in). The only thing I can find is to change the actual scale of the Map Frame manually by guessing at the scale numbers to change the Map Frame data while leaving the other details of the layout the same (see attached photo). Is there a way to do this similar to how ArcMap did it by visually changing the scale of the Map Frame?
