In old ArcMap, I could easily open any map, and have my Attribute Editor show up at the very bottom, extending to the entire screen showing only a certain number of rows. It was obviously saved in the normal.mxt and that was fine. Anytime I wanted to close it and reopen it, it would come back in that same format. With ArcPro now not having a normal.mxt, each time I set up the position (having to use the weird and hidden "float" option) the way I want, when I close it, it defaults back as large and docked taking up most my screen and I have to reset the position and such every time which is highly annoying. Is there anyway to customize where and how the Attribute Editor looks and is positioned (and left undocked at all times) at all? In addition it would also be very nice to have the option to get rid of that large extra white space on top...

Merging over to ArcPro and using version 2.4.1. I've noticed that unlike ArcMap, we can't seem to keybind the INS, HOME, PGUP, DEL, END or PGDN keys anymore. They work with combinations SHFT, CTRL, ALT, but not individually. Is this a bug or is this designed now to be that way? I use have those bound in ArcMap to be my main control keys for easy panning and selecting (also using the SHFT, ALT, CTRL) for them, so really hope this is a bug and those keys can be reisussed as being able to be "Assigned" in the Accelerators. I've also encountered a problem going from ArcPro 2.4 to 2.4.1. Seems now F-keys can still be assigned, but they won't save. More on that here: (https://community.esri.com/message/865057-how-to-get-hot-keys-to-work-in-arcgis-pro) Hopefully both these will be fixed soon. Hotkeys are very essential to what I do and having functionality with the F-keys and the INS, HOME, etc keys as single binds would cause a lot less stress on my fingers if I don't have to constantly use SHFT, CTRL, ALT for some of my most common binds I would like to set...

I was using them before I updated to 2.4.1, but after that it allows me to accept the hotkeys using the "Assign" button in 2.4.1, but it won't save them. Unlike the blocked keys such as "Home" or a single letter that won't even allow you to attempt to assign it, the F-keys do allow it to be assigned, just won't save now since I've update the version. Keeping this bookmarked for any future fixes...

Seems the issue could have been caused by a Windows Update that possible partially corrupted the normal.mxt. Found out the issue was when using my keybinds I have with using teh CTRL button. Pressing just the CTRL button would cause the endless up scrolling, holding it down would make the scrolling faster. Only way to stop it I found was to bring up the Results Window and then close it. Solution was to make a backup of my normal.mxt. Restart ARC to create a new one. Then tested it out and the CTRL issue was fixed. Deleted that normal.mxt and copied my original one back with all my binds and toolbars and renamed that back to normal.mxt and the problem was solved...

Strange issue I just found this morning. Working on a project for the past 2 or so months and just this morning this anomaly has started occur all day today, minus about an hour or two. Editing the layer as a versioned editing via SDE and when I put in a Select by Attributes query. My map suddenly starts to slowly and constantly move the map as if I was using the pan tool. In the bottom left, each time it keeps saying "Drawing Background". I'm not touching it and it just keeps doing this which is making editing impossible. I know if the past there were issues where people discovered the pan tool got stuck, but I'm able to select different tools and zooms and still move around, but it just keeps doing this automatic panning. Nothing has changed since Fri when I last was editing it. I've re-booted the computer as a last resort, tried opening a new ArcMap and re-importing just the SDE layer to see if it was an issue with the imagery or something and nothing has worked. Even tried to MXD Doctor it and nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?

My coworker just noticed and issue that I just tested on my computer as well as another coworkers's and we have all experienced the issue. We are using an LRS event table to create point and line layers for maps. Before merging over to 10.6 we never had an issue, but now that we have, we've noticed a problem. The issue is when importing the table from SDE and then displaying Route Events it shows the data. When we add in a Definition Query for that layer, it works fine. However, when we then Symbolize the layer, this is when we encounter the issue that sometimes we see the correct information, and other times we see everything as if the Definition Query wasn't there. Turning the layer on and off will randomly show the correct filtered information and other times, show everything. When we see everything as if it wasn't filtered, if I print it or save it to a shapefile, the correct data is shown despite what we see on the screen. So seems like there is a stall when the data gets to filtering with the Definition Query at times for some odd reason and we can't figure out why that would be. The current work around is when we see on the screen that everything is shown, we just go into the layer properties in the Symbology tab and just turn the <all other values> on and then off and press OK and it displays the correct data. Though still wondering what might cause this? Coworkers are both on Win 7 using ArcGIS 10.6. I am on Windows 7 using 10.6.1. (I also had the same issue using ArcPro) Thanks...

I'm using ArcMap 10.6.1 and have a question about how to set up a single shortcut key that will combine 3 commands, with the last one having a static parameter in it? I'm using the Route Editing Commands and currently I have 3 shortcut keys I have to press in order to re-calculate a measure on a road segment. The last command I have to actually enter in a value each time and would really like to simplify this process and also make it less of a chance I accidentally enter the last parameter in wrong. Current Process (All commands are in the Route Editing Commands category) Select the road segment I want to reclaculate Press my 1st shortcut key for Drop Measures Press my 2nd shortcut key for Set As Distance (this uses the default value given of 0.00000) Press my 3rd shortcut key for Apply Factor where I have to actually enter in the value of 0.000189393. Proposed Process Combine all the 3 shortcut keys into one where the process will do the 1st shortcut key first, then do the 2nd one using default values and finally do the 3rd one using the value I stated above. Is there any way to do something like this as I believe Macros don't exist in ArcMap, or at least not the way I'm thinking. I also don't know much about Model Builder (plus I feel like this doesn't really work for what I'm trying to do as the commands aren't actually in Toolbox) or scripting in Python enough to make a single command that combines the above process at all. If I could, I could then import it as a file and then set a shortcut key to that. Any ideas? Thanks

I get a "Cursor" not defined error with the cursor.deleteRow(), plus how do you convert the values to a string in row 10? I'm not really familiar with Python. Also what's the format code to make the script show up with the row numbers like you had? import arcpy dataset = r'U:\TEST\TEST.shp' deleteValues = ['1','2','3'] deleteCursor = arcpy.da.UpdateCursor(dataset, ['fclass']) for count, d in enumerate(deleteCursor): if str(d[0]) in deleteValues: cursor.deleteRow() del cursor print '{0} rows were deleted.'.format(count) Thanks. Also will look at the Items in list as well, but I had issues with that yesterday trying to get it to work properly with the examples I found online...

I have a sample script for a test shapefile (which I eventually will apply to an actual shapefile, but for simplicity I'll just use this) that I want to run outside of Arc as a standalone script. Shape file name: TEST.shp Field: fclass Attributes to Purge (in fclass): "A", "B", "C" So with this script, I want all records that have an fclass containing A, B or C to be deleted and leaving everything else. Here's where I have an issue. I can get this script to work with just one of the attributes, but not a combination of attributes (Sorry I can't seem to find a script code option to format this better): print "Importing..." import arcpy, os shp = r'U:\TEST\TEST.shp' list = ['1', '2', '3'] print "Purging unnecessary fclass values..." with arcpy.da.UpdateCursor(shp, "fclass") as cursor: for row in cursor: #if row[0] == "1": -- if I use just this, it works and deletes all rows with "1" if row[0] == : cursor.deleteRow() print "Completed" Using the if row[0] == : doesn't do anything and neither does if row[0] == ["1","2","3"]: I also don't want to use multiple OR statements if I can help it, similar to this (though the syntax for python OR statements might not look like this): if row[0] == '1': OR if row[0] == '2': OR if row[0] == '3': I've also played around using the different quotes as well in the script switching between the " and the ' without any success as well, thinking that was maybe the issue. I am not getting any errors at all, but it's just not deleting the records at all either... Thanks

Yes I have access to Advanced licences, but our road layers are center lines (and those aren't even that accurate), but this is also more a general question about the ability to split lines using multiple points rather than having to split the line once, reelecting the line again and splitting it in the next spot and so on. I just used this as my current example, but I have other projects that aren't roads and trails at all. So without actually making it more complex, I just was curious if there was anyway to do this as trying ALT, SHIFT with the split doesn't allow me to do multiple splits at a single time...

So I have a lot of line segments that I need to split and remove a small portion of (trails that cross roads, where I don't want the road crossings to be part of the trail). Currently I've been having to tediously use the Split Line Feature and select the first node and split the trail and the road crossing. Then select the 2nd part of the split line and move it back to the other side of the road to create that gap where the road crossing is and then draw in the new crosswalk line. My question is there a simple way to actually be able to manually select multiple points on a line and split the line that way? I've tried using ALT which works a lot of times for selecting multiple things, but it doesn't seem to work this way. I just would find it a lot easier to split the line in two places to create 3 features where I can then designate the road crossing a lot easier by just changing it's feature code... Thanks Here A is how I want my line to look when it's complete. B is how I want to split the line only once, but in 2 places so that 3 polyline features are created.

I am trying to figure out why in my Layout views, I have a log lag time when trying to move text using the Shift-Arrow Keys (Page.layout.nudge). If I move text just by using the mouse it's fine, or if I use Shift-Arrow Keys on graphics it moves as it should. But text gives a few seconds lag time before the text actually moves using this method. Any ideas of why this is? Thanks

Yes this is a big issue and an annoying issue with the 10 editing system. I am one of those fast clickers and am constantly having to either re-do a line segment or having to stop and then later re-combining all the segments that accidentally get "finished" by the double-click. I also have researched the Continue Sketch feature, which I guess will be part of 10.1 (which we do not have). There is a program out there, but like many others with Admin rights, we are still unable to get that add-in to work (http://resources.arcgis.com/gallery/file/arcobjects-net-api/details?entryID=8556F0FF-1422-2418-A042-0CD3CD910DF9). So with neither one being an option now, I'm finding editing my line work very frustrating and annoying...
