Thank you both for your replies. I do have EXTRACT unchecked, but this tech savvy user was still able to pull the entire layer. I guess I should watch his workflow. This is a real issue in our industry. Regards, Gerry

Hi All, I have been developing apps on Esri's ArcGIS Enterprise platform since 2015. A new Publisher level user brought something concerning to my attention. He was able to download a complete copy of one of our company's sensitive data layers. When I started with AE 10.4 or 10.5, I remember a choice under the layers Settings tab that stated, "Prevent this item from being copied". It was above or below Prevent this item from being deleted. Now, I work with AE 10.9.1 and AE 11.2 and don't see that choice anymore. Does anyone remember being able to lock down layers from within Portal after creating a service. Has anyone figured out how to keep sensitive data from walking away? Esri, we understand you want to share everything with everyone, but sometimes highly sensitive data must be kept in-house. Regards, Gerry

Hi, Have you tried setting a reference scale for the Map Frame? Maybe, there is a variable somewhere to change the behavior to previous versions. Take a look under options.

Bud, We waited over 20 years for multiple layouts in 1 project file. So, 11 years doesn't seem so bad to me. I believe AutoCAD has had mulitple layouts since the late '90s, maybe sooner. Gerry

Our company uses the Web AppBuilder filters in many applications. The Custom Filter is great when focusing on just 1 layer. It would be so much more powerful if multiple layers can be accessed from 1 Custom Filter dialog box. Each layer/expression would be independent of the others. My current workaround is creating a Multiple Custom Filter group and and adding 4-6 Filter Tools with just the Use Custom Filter box checked to on so we can access multiple layers during 1 map session. Regards, Gerry

Hi All, Once in awhile I will add the line work from an AutoCAD survey to update properties that are stored in a file geodatabase. It would be so great if we had the ability to highlight the AutoCAD file vertices, so we can easiliy snap to them while editing. I was able to do this with ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 and XTools installed. So much faster during 1 to 3 property edits. Regards, Gerry

Hi All, One of my favorite features about QGIS over ArcGIS Pro or Desktop is the quick filter on any and all classified layers. I have been using ArcGIS for a very long time and can't believe Esri has not added this simple feature, unless I am just missing it. Please let me know if it needs to be enabled somewhere outside the app. Regards, Gerry

Tim, Thanks for the region reminder. This layer does not maintain time series of land (see above). I actually have a point layer that has stacked points representing a time series. It had to be done that way because management wanted to query and filter it a certain way in ArcGIS Enterprise. Regards, Gerry

Keiren, Thank you for your reply. In this case, all polygons are in one feature class (layer). Coordinate systems are not an issue because these layers are maintained in ArcGIS Enterprise which uses WGS 1984 Web Mercator. The layer pertains to land management and stacked features represent different instruments. There are larger owned parcels representing surface rights, minerals rights, both, and ROW easements. Then, there are also leases representing the same as for owned property and options with the same combination. My approach on my legacy system is to maintain three separate layers, Owned polygon feature class, Lease polygon feature class, and Options polygon feature class. If overlap is necessary after splitting them up, then that is acceptable. Thanks again, Gerry

Hello All, I started working with Esri GIS products around 1995. Being old school, I never create polygon feature classes that allow features to overlap each other. It’s the number one rule of topology (https://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/01mm/pdf/topology_rules_poster.pdf) and the fact that I started with ArcInfo coverages may have something to do with it, also. Has anyone heard of ArcInfo? Around 2006, I was responsible for converting an Autodesk MapGuide Land System to our company Esri platform that included ArcGIS Server. I guess this was around the time SDE connected ArcMap to the SQL Database. I recall when appending overlapping polygons into an existing polygon feature class, the routine would error out. In my old land system (circa 2006), that is still being used today with ArcMap 10.0, adding overlapping polygons to the enterprise geodatabase continues to error out. Somewhere along the way, Esri decided to allow overlapping polygons within a single polygon feature class, but I still don’t. Now, I am reviewing someone else’s data that is part of an ArcGIS Enterprise and I notice around 50% overlap. Most of the overlap are slivers from data that was not cleaned properly, build and clean in ArcInfo. My OCD monster wants to clean these layers for them, but maybe I should let it go as other commitments keep me very busy. It’s so difficult to explain this concept, so I have the following questions: Are overlapping polygons a normal approach when building polygon feature classes today? What reasons could I argue for the additional time it would take to clean up all the slivers and gaps? What are all the issues that overlapping polygons cause in the future (i.e., spatial query, buffer, distance measurement)? What was Esri’s frame of mind when they decided to allow this? Chime in Esri. Do I look the other way and hope no issues arise later? Will sum, Gerry

Hi All, I had the strangest request from one of my departments recently. They would like me to change the Protal for ArcGIS basemaps to a smiling US, so Canada does not look bigger. I showed them how they can use UTM 14 in ArcGIS Pro to get a smiling US, but did not explain that their data was being projected on the fly. Does anyone know if this can be done in Protal for ArcGIS Maps or does documentation exist explaining why this can't be done. Is there any documentation explaining why Esri adopted the Google WGS 1984 Web Mercator coordinate system? Thank you in advance, Gerry

Hi All, I have had several requests to remove a category from our status field at startup. Different groups within our company would like to run statistics with and without abandoned locations, but would like abandoned sites turned off by default. It looks like this can easily be added to Web AppBuilder during the configuration of the Filter Tool. All comments welcomed. Best regards, Gerry Filter Configuration Result when app opens

Hi Scott, Thanks for your suggestion. Since these are all enhancement requests targeting only one tool, I thought it was best to submit as is. If you have time and think it's better to split into separate requests, please use your best judgement. Best regards, Gerry

Hi All, In our offices, the most popular tool is the Summary tool, because it’s so easy to use. But, it needs more capabilities to really make it powerful. We would like the banner across the bottom to allow transparency values, so current features can be seen underneath the banner. Next, we would like to have a custom filter added to the banner that can access all fields for the selected layer. Finally, a custom boundary override choice would really complete the Summary Pro tool. One last thing. It would be nice to increase the number of fields per banner page. Currently, it looks like 4, but if the screen resolution is high, there is so much dead space. Thanks, Gerry
