@Kevin_McIntyre , Yes, we will be using tracks in addition to this needed auto orient functionality. That being said, tracks alone aren't good enough. The user/collector will revert to paper collection if the collection platform cannot have this behavior. This is necessary and needed functionality and none of the Esri/ArcGIS online tools have auto orient feature except for Field Maps. If this is a bug, we'd like the Auto Orient tool functionality to be fixed. If this is by design, we'd like this to be a formal enhancement. I've already reached out to Esri Support for resolution, but my hopes this geonet post will catch more attention for this need.

Hi @RhettZufelt, Yes, that is exactly why we need the auto orient tool! We're currently looking into laser rangefinders as a solution for higher accuracy for "at a distance collection", but for right now this Field Maps auto orient functionality is the first issue.

Hello, Thank you both for your reply. I'll address a few of your questions below as well as include a diagram for reference: why is having the auto orientation tool important? Since the dats is being collected in a helicopter, the helicopter is continually changing direction/orientation. The user collecting this data needs the map to auto orient to this direction to accurately plot deer sightings at a distance. rapid data collection is a key factor in this project, have you explored Quick Capture as a more suitable app for this project? We need this data to be collected quickly and efficiently (since helicopter time is not cheap). QuickCapture will not work due to a variety of reasons. First it does not have an option for a data collection map interface, and secondly there is no way to plot data at a distance (QuickCapture only allows device location). Either way, if your compass heading is important at the time of data collection, you can add in GPS metadata to your project to collect your heading at the time of capture. Compass heading metadata isn't the issue. We need the data collector's map to auto orient to their helicopter orientation. You are correct that the tool disengages, however, if you hit the collect button (+) again, it will re-engage that tool and snap you to the current GPS location automagically. So, regardless of the state of that tool, pressing the collect button always takes you back to the GPS coordinate. Thank you for confirming this issue. ---- Diagram of the collection: Best, Amanda

Hello ArcGIS Field Maps Team, We currently have a project that requires the use of the auto orientation tool in the ArcGIS Field Maps map. When collecting data (add point(+) > submit) we've noticed that the tool disengages and turns off. We need this tool to persist since this project requires rapid data collection (helicopter aerial deer collection). Is there any plan to resolve this issue? Thank you, Amanda Huber Amanda Huber

Hey ArcGIS Pro Team, We've discovered an issue with one of our pro projects. Upon opening the project we get the initial open layout to load but then the mouse just spins and spins and we're not able to do anything else in the project (everything is greyed out). Even closing the open layout does not help. We've tested opening this project across multiple machines and found the same issue. Any ideas what could be causing it? Thanks, Amanda Huber

Hi @OwenGeo , Thanks so much for the reply! Here's the story may (I duplicated it for public sharing): https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/dcc59af7fd374df7b4f934266452fc0f Here are my steps for creating the sidecar express map: 1. Create Sidecar 2. Add Map > New Express Map 3. Select Basemap 4. Add Numbered Point and set to desired extent 5. Click Done 6. Duplicate Sidecar Slide 7. Add another numbered point (to get the next to be #2) 8. Click Done *At this point it looks like the sidcar is keeping the correct extent* 9. Publish story > view story> all Express maps are zoomed completely out: Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again, Amanda Huber

Hello ArcGIS StoryMaps Team, I'm not seeing a setting for this available, therefore I'm suggesting this as an enhancement. Please create a way to configure express map zoom levels (and extent). We're currently using this feature in a series of sidecar slides, but every express map default zooms to the full extent. (Not using map tour because we need to show other multimedia as well). Thanks so much, Amanda

Hey ArcGIS Pro Team, When the layout is zoomed out and an element is selected only the expand (↕) or rotate (↷) cursor options are available. The user must zoom into each element to see the move cursor option (⤧). (This makes sense because the move cursor only responds to the center of the object and at zoomed out scales the element handles are too close, therefore only scale or rotate are available) I propose a keyboard shortcut for showing the cursor move option at zoomed out scales when the element is selected. Example: Element is too small to move because cursor doesn't switch to move option: Thank you, Amanda Huber

Hello ArcGIS Pro Team, We would like the ability to export two separate layouts (unable to use map series for this) into one PDF file for the purpose of condensed electronic pdfs and double-sided printing. We're aware of third-party software for post processing, but I believe other orgs may also find benefit in this functionality. Please consider this enhancement. Thank you, Amanda Huber

Hi @MarianneFarretta, Thanks for the quick response, I appreciate the update! As for the hex value I was referring to the actual "#" symbol. In the symbology settings it's provided- therefore pasted # value is not accepted until "#" is removed, whereas label settings require the "#" symbol otherwise it doesn't work. Isn't accepted: Isn't accepted and just defaults to black:

We've noticed some inconsistencies across the Map Viewer UI for the color In the Symbology Styles settings, map authors are given the option to pick from the color gradient and the hex value's # is supplied. In the Label setting, there is no color gradient option, and the hex value's # is not supplied. This inconsistency in the UI leads to a confusing user experience and somewhat cumbersome experience when trying to choose consistent colors. Symbology Styles settings Label setting Color gradient picker available Color gradient picker not available hex value's # symbol provided hex value's # symbol not provided Please update these UIs to be consistent. Best, Amanda

Hey ArcGIS StoryMaps Team, In addition to our StoryMap tour we would like to provide park guests with a printed map. We would love to have a way to print this map from the StoryMap. Currently there are issues with the ArcGIS StoryMap print option, the map is cropped and illegible and the list spans multiple pages. We propose a reformat of the print layout for map tours. One idea is to condense to a single page, with the (uncropped) map at the top and the list of stops on the same page (single column or multiple columns if many). Or a second idea- map on one page and list of stops on a separate following page (then we could print double sided). Thanks for your consideration in advance, Amanda Huber
