Honestly, I'm just realizing that there is a lot of map functionality on the Catalog View, like updating data sources. I think that is consistent with ArcMap. However, it's not my natural instinct to go to the Catalog View to see the layer IDs of a map. That would not be my preference.

Well, I just looked at ArcGIS Pro and asked myself where I would look to find this information and I think the Contents Pane would be the natural place for it. For example, another icon to the right of the label icon where the layers can be listed in drawing order or in order of layer ID.

I was just copying symbology from one point layer to several others and from one line layer to several others. After you enter the Input Layer, it would be nice if the Symbology Layer would be filtered down to just those layers in the map that have the same feature type, i.e. points or lines. I have 60 layers in my map and it would be faster to find them with this enhancement.

If I wanted to use batch jobs, I would. Are you limited to one field now? Sometimes, I just want to run a tool once and make sure the parameters are good, then I run it a few more times. I just like typing the parameters over and over into the original tool quickly. Yes, the idea is to stop changing parameter values and moving the cursor when a tool completes. Just let the user start typing in new values for the next run.

Sorry, I was writing another idea and I didn't change the title. I will think more about the how. Right now, I just wanted to document the need.

I have had issues with different tools, but today I was using Create Feature Class. After further testing, here is the exact use case that causes the problem. First, I run Create Feature Class with one set of parameters. Second, I start entering another set of parameters, specifically the feature class name and alias while the tool is still running. Third, when the tool finishes running, if the cursor is in either the feature class name or alias parameter fields, it kicks off an event handler which reverts the parameter field back to its last value and moves the cursor to the beginning of the field. If you finish typing the parameter and click outside the text field, it will not revert it. This creates a bad experience in a few ways. First, if you don't notice it, you might have changed half of the parameters and run it with half old parameters and half new parameters. Second, it is very annoying when it reverts back to the old value and moves the cursor while you are still typing. You finish what you were typing at the start of the old parameter value and you have to clean up the mess you made or you accidentally run the tool with a junk value. I can see how this could be parameter validation, but I am not clear why it is necessary or why it can't validate the value I just typed in. Why does it have to revert or move the cursor?

I think it would be nice if there were a single view similar to the Domains view where you could see all of the layers in a map with their layer IDs. When you start to have a lot of layers, it would be helpful to see all of the layer IDs in one place versus right-clicking on each layer and choosing Properties.

I like how ArcGIS Pro doesn't close the parameters for a GP tool after you start it. I like being able to reuse most of the parameters, change one or two of them, and run it again. That's very efficient. It's like doing a batch job, but you don't have to run everything at the same time. You can do a single run, make sure everything is working correctly, and then just run it again several more times. The issue I've noticed is that if you change the parameters while the tool is running, there's some sort of code that gets triggered when the tool finishes. This code updates the parameters back to what they were for the previous run. Initially, I didn't notice this and I ran a tool on two occasions with the wrong parameters, specifically some from the previous run and some of the new parameters. This caused me to overwrite some outputs and lose data. It's also annoying because it forces you to start over again or it will refresh a parameter while you are typing in a text field. My idea is that Esri should investigate this behavior and remove it. It can lead to bad consequences, some of which you aren't aware of if you don't see the screen flash. It's also inefficient.

We currently have ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1. Do you know the version in which it was fixed?

We have a map service with two layers that point to the same feature class. There is a table in the map service that is related to this feature class. When you look at the services directory at the table, it lists just one of the layers as being related to the table, even though both layers are in the same feature class. The one it displays is the one that is higher up in the layer list and that has a lower layer ID. The problem is that we want to do relationship queries against the layer it doesn't list. This all seems to be determined behind the scenes by ArcGIS Server, so how does it work and how can we work around this issue? I don't want to change the layer order. It really should list both layers as being related.

This also applies to the Select by Attributes command. You are essentially making a decision that alphanumeric is better than what the database administrator set in the domain for the order of the coded values. In addition, I seconded the ideas for providing more options to manipulate the domain order in the Domains view.

When using the Select by Attributes command, I am annoyed by always having to click New expression. In fact, I see no reason why you couldn't just eliminate it altogether and default to the Create a new expression option where you use pull-down menus to build your query. If you want to use SQL, there is a slider. If you want to load an expression, there is a load option. So, what is the point of this button? To me, there is no value added and just time wasted.

I'm developing a file geodatabase schema and I noticed that my domains are sorted alphanumerically in the Attribute Table pull-down menus, but they are in my desired order in the Domains view. Please do not force the order to be alphanumeric.

Thanks, Azin! When I move my Python 2 code to Python 3, I will rewrite the code to use the latest OOTB functionality. I see how so much of my custom code is now OOTB.
