Dear all, I need to calculate for a field based on the position of a substring in another question. It should be similar to the SEARCH("search string", "String Value", start position) in Excel or Find function. I need to do a "auto-fill" for a field using a substring in a provirus question. I need to find the numbers of starting and ending position for the "substr" function. Thanks! Ming

Noticed that the latest WF integration can pass the ID and Location value to Survey123 project. However, it seems that only the fields in the first layer (layer 0?) are listed as the receiving candidates, instead, it did not use all the fields in the Survey itself. I have surveys that using table(s) in a Feature Service. However, it seems the ID or/and Location cannot pass to any fields in these tables. Will is it more make sense to pass the value to the field that are actually used in a Survey? Any one have more experienced on this integration? Thanks, Ming

@Ismael Chivite Great Article, it helps a lot for a beginner! Two followup question regarding put the condition in the "relevant" field to where the text field should show: 1. How to do "if a checkbox is not selected, then show"? 2. How to do "if checkbox1 and/or checkbox2 is selected, then show"? Thanks, Ming

Graig, "If Workforce allowed additional fields to be added, viewed and edited in the Dispatcher and Mobile apps - would this help? If it does help; what fields would you add?" ------ Yes, it will help! If the value of some of these fields can be passed from the attributes of the identified feature, if will be even better. For us, the FeatureID is "Must have". Other possible field could be accountNumber, MeterReading, etc. "We already allow the App Integrations to be applied at the Assignment Type level;" ------ Does this mean that different survey can be open based on the AssignmentType? "Who is the user in this example? Is it the Project Owner, Dispatcher or Worker" -------- Project Owner. Thanks and looking forward to next release! Ming

Hi Graig, I am aware that the next release of WF/Survey123 integration may already have the ability to pass the WO-ID and location information to from WF to Survey123. I'd like add a few cases for adding other values as well in the future. Background: We are using WF for small utilities who can not afford expansive mobile WO system. 1. We use WF for day-to-day operations and create hundreds assignments every week. Therefore, we backup closed assignments monthly and remove them from the active WF projects. 2. WF contains very limited number of fields, we are going to use survey123 for collect more information in the field. Here are some functions that we want: 1. Add a Feature/Facility ID field in the Assignment feature class. Most assignments, if not all, is related to a feature/asset. All of our assets layers has a feature ID field. If the feature ID is passed to assignment, the accumulated assignments data will be very helpful for assets management analysis. The Location field is currently use to store the "assignment address" for field workers. 2. We like the following value passed from WF to Survey123 and here is why: a. GlobalID: We can use it as "key" to created relationshipClass between assignments and detailed information table. b. WOID: c. FeatureID: If possible, we can use it to relate to assets feature class, such as meters/accounts, valves, hydrants, etc... b. AssignmentType: Although this information is already in assignment layers itself, pass assignmentType to Survey123 could allow us to take advantage to "conditional appearance" of fields in Survey123. Different type of assignment may require different set of information to collect in the fields. For example, account relation assignment need worker to collect meter reading; new installation need to record part's serial number, leaking repair needs to collect leak-type and severity and amount, Hydrant flushing need ... . Auto-fill of assignment type will be very very helpful to simplify the survey interface!! c. Because each user have different requirements, is it possible to make the auto-fill/pass-value a configurable process in the set-up? In that configuration, user can select and map the fields for auto-fill. Or have the option, if the field name and type in the survey table match the field name and type in the assignment, the value will be passed over. needless to say it again: the WF and Survey123 are great! And you and your team are very helpful! Thanks, Ming

It seams this is the case. Because identify/pop-up is such common task for almost every map related applications, I thought The API will have a method for this function. Or, at lease have a example in the sample code. Thanks for the reply! Ming

Here is the description of the Popups Namespace: Contains classes that allow the display the data of a feature, graphic or pixel (geo elements) in a way that is easier to understand than basic attributes in a row/column format via a 'popup' graphical element that floats on top of the map. Popups are part of the ArcGIS information model and can be configured for individual layers (or sublayers) in a map via a popup definition. They can also be used with graphics and graphics overlays, and pixels and rasters. Popups convert raw data into an information display that is both powerful and easy to read. Some common uses of popups are: display results from an identify (aka. a user map view click) and editing a feature by adding/updating/deleting attributes/geometry.

I am trying to display popups on a mapView loaded a webmap with the popup definition for each layers. So far, I only saw display information by use Overlay or CallOut. However, it seams that there is entire namespace (Esri.ArcGISRuntime.Mapping.Popups) designed for that purpose. Anyone know how to use it and saw a sample of how to use it? Think, Ming

Hi Craig, Thanks for the prompt replay! It is great that ESRI is working on copy Assignment-Type from one project to another. I noticed that your Python tool set can also manipulate the assignment-types. However, I felt that configuring two maps and keep them consistent across all the projects may be more time consuming. Most of our clients are small rural water utilities with very limited resources, both technical and budgetary. With the AGOL WF, they can apply the cutting -edge technologies in their daily workflow and at they fingertips. This in turn encouraged them to invest in and adopt more GIS. Many of our clients currently using a non-GIS-based billing and work order software from Software Solutions, Inc. We are currently working with them to develop functions that sync the assignments between WF and SSI. I believe that in the long term, workforce management will be more a part of GIS functions instead of billing function. So, we are very much interested in the new development of WF. From our users’ feedback, we’d like WF team to consider the following abilities/function: 1. Currently there is only “Location” field in assignment layer. Our user like to have/see the “GIS Facility ID”, “Customer Account ID”, and “Service Address”. Currently I group all three pieces of information in the location field like this: “Service Address/AccountNumber/FacilityID” . Then, I will put each piece into appropriate field during the sync and archive process. I’d suggest to add two more user defined and configurable fields/textbox in the dispatcher interface (and assignment layer). User can choose “Show/Hide” this two boxes and configure to auto-fill the box with data from selected/clicked feature in the map. 2. For the field-workers, they may also need to fill some data, such as “Meter Reading”, “Cost ID”, “Material”. Currently these would all recorded in the Note field and then extract to appropriate field during the sync/achieve process. We wish to also have one or two user defined textbox/Field on that interface. 3. For the workflow: Current workflow is like this: created >assigned >Read >inProgress >Complete. We’d like to add the Review/Sign-off action as the final step of the workflow. Once the assignment is completed. The manager/supervisor will review and sign-off the assignment. Once the status is changed to signed-off or “closed”, we will remove the assignment from the active project and archive it in the master-assignment layer. 4. As you may noticed, our clients use the WF for their on-going daily work order workflow. They often have more than one active WF projects and one master assignment GDB for archive and analysis purposes. It is important to keep the Workorder-ID unique not only within one active WF project, but also among all the projects, as well as in the Master GDB. We wish the WorkOrderID can be configure to auto-fill. IT can be: Prefix + zero leading sequential number, such as “MZ-00293834”; Prefix + non zero leading sequential number, such as “MZ-2341”; Prefix + OID; Date + sequential number such as: 03242017-2 As you might noticed, we use Prefix for each WF project to keep the uniqueness of the WOID in the master assignment gdb. I have seen many good ideas from other users in the discussion and you have some of them on your backlog. Is it possible to have “To-do-list” that we can access and even to vote on? Thanks lot! Hi Rickey, Thanks for the tip! I am aware of these Python scripts and it seems they are tools for managing the Assignment FeatureLayer for an existing WF project. I am looking to a way to copy and duplicate an entire project from one account to another so that I do not have repeat the configurations for each similar projects for different organizations/users. If you come across anything like that, please let me know! Thanks, Ming Sent from Mail<https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=550986> for Windows 10
