The “Reassign Content” and “Receive Content” privileges in the Content grouping are great in concept; however, I have privacy concerns with current arrangement that prevents me from enabling this across a university organization. The idea would be to rethink the process for how users transfer ownership of content by supporting notifications and/or other communication between those transferring and those receiving content to address current privacy concerns. This is specifically for the permissions of a user, not the permissions listed under the Administrative functions. Currently when I assign this permission to a user, it automatically grants those assigned this privilege to view folders for all users within the organization who can “receive content”. I’d like to give this permission to students to transfer class or research content to their faculty or research partners, but in order to do this additional privacy measures need to be addressed. Even if I’m receiving content, why does a user need to grant someone else the ability to view all their folders? One idea from this post Option to Restrict the 'Reassign Ownership' privilege based on Administrative Groups, or similar does a good summary of this: “Perhaps another way to address this is to put the power of transferring ownership in the combined hands of the owner of the content and the person who is receiving it. The content owner could select one or more items and specify a receiving user. That would trigger notification to the receiving user, and they could review the list of content and choose to accept or reject the items.” Without these privacy concerns addressed, the burden to transfer ownership of content for universities and other educational entities will likely fall on a few individuals who will have to micromanage this.

Create a more streamlined way to transfer/clone ArcGIS StoryMaps from one organization to another. There are several suggested ways to clone and/or transfer an ArcGIS StoryMap from one organization to another. However, these are “workarounds” and still requires a lot of work in order to transfer, including the proper permissions in the source and destination organizations, bugs and other issues depending on the version of ArcGIS API for Python one is using, and having to “re-build” a StoryMap in the destination organization if certain layers don’t transfer but instead are “referenced” back to the source organization. We are seeing a number of users from our University who are collaborating with organizations who have AGO orgs and wish to transfer their work to the partner/collaborator upon completion. As the demand to create ArcGIS StoryMaps increases across our campus, so too does the demand to transfer/clone ArcGIS StoryMaps. The inability to quickly and efficiently create a clone and transfer to another organization is becoming a larger blocker. Here are some existing resources for cloning/transferring ArcGIS StoryMaps pulled from the community. Notebook from Peter Knoop: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-storymaps-blog/cloning-arcgis-storymaps/bc-p/903720#M43 ArcGIS API for Python sample code: https://developers.arcgis.com/python/samples/clone-storymap-version2/ AGO Assistant Common Workflow to Copy a StoryMap: https://guide.assistant.esri-ps.com/docs/common-workflows There are already lots of posts on this topic, but I can't find a formal idea: https://community.esri.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?q=Transfer%20storymaps&advanced=false

We are seeing this error recently with several classes on our campus. We are using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.3 on a .net 4.000 framework. They are experiencing this when trying to export a layout (pdf, jpeg) to a network storage drive. File paths have been updated to remove all spaces. They aren't using raster data. Their projects are now corrupted. Has anyone else experienced this recently?

Thanks @KoryKramer . Here are some additional thoughts to good questions. 1. The software is installed on both campus controlled lab machines and personal laptops. For the campus based machines, we do NOT currently block notifications. Sometimes it is useful to know that there is an update, regardless if you can update or not. Most instructors can clarify with their students what version they should be using for class. Of course there will always be those who don't listen and still upgrade, but that's on them. 2. I agree with @PatIampietro and @Willen that the idea would be able to allow users to select what supported version they want to download. Again, more on making other versions available rather than just the latest and one version back. While we as a campus encourage users to be on a particular version, we still have some researchers who are on a particular version due to certain tools and others. For example we are in a trial with ArcGIS Indoors, and the ELT tool would not work with the latest versions of ArcGIS Pro. It would only work with ArcGIS Pro 2.7 (Esri is aware of the incompatibility with the ETL tools and Pro). So we had to go in and find that version and make it available to students. It would have been great to just tell the students to go and download that version from AGO. 3. I don't think I would need to cap the number of versions of ArcGIS Pro per student. We have students who are enrolled in classes and then many other students and researchers who are using the software outside of the class. I would like to enable the SSO we have setup for our AGO to say, if you are affiliate with our AGO and you would like to download the software go here. Currently I'm still having to be very involved in providing access to earlier versions of software in addition to providing technical support on the use of the software. I would just want the option to make the software available and enable the user to select what version to download based on their research needs or class instructions. It would be up to the campuses or Orgs to specify to their users what version their campus is using. With this last line stated about providing guidance to their users/members on what version they should download, it seems like it would be extra work to build in a function that would add say an * next to the "this Org recommends this version". Again, I would look at going with a simple implementation of just making other supported versions of ArcGIS Pro available for download from the AGO interface.

Our professors and instructors at our university are staying with ArcGIS Pro 2.9 this academic year rather than upgrading to ArcGIS Pro 3.0. Previously we were able to leverage the ArcGIS Online option to download software from the username/profile pic > My Settings > Licenses area (see attachment). However, using this option now only provides the latest ArcGIS Pro release 3.0. Please offer the option to download other versions of ArcGIS Pro from ArcGIS Online other than just the latest release. This will make it easier for us as a campus to not have to download and store various versions of ArcGIS Pro on other platforms (Google, OneDrive, Box, etc.) Our professors/instructors do not always want to teach on the latest software release due to a number of reasons: updated instructional resources or more recently the hardware requirements that are drastically different from Pro 2.9 (many student laptops do not meet those requirements).

Simultaneous collaborative editing of StoryMaps would support more use of StoryMaps in courses where GIS is not the focus. We have a number of faculty who do not teach GIS, but who are incorporating StoryMaps as part of a final project. For those who would like to do group projects, the inability to edit a StoryMap simultaneously has created some frustration for the faculty and students. No matter how much they try I still wind up with someone who has lost content because they were trying to edit at the same time. When so many platforms exist for simultaneous collaborative editing (Google Docs/Sheets/Presentation, Miro, and many others), the inability to edit at the same time just seems inefficient. I've even had some faculty not want to use StoryMaps because of this. Yes, I realize there are shared update groups. But this doesn't solve the editing-at-the-same-time. Yes, I realize that students could create their own StoryMap and then combine them using a collection. But sometimes students need to work on the same content. As Reina mentioned above, it's hard to schedule time. And that one time when someone leaves a tab open.....

We are encountering this issue as well. A user copied text from a Google Doc and pasted into the StoryMap. The StoryMap appeared to have saved the text, but when it was published, the text was lost. We haven't tried the "paste-as-plain-text" as mentioned above, but we did save the Google Doc out as a .txt and then copied/pasted from there.

You can't inhabit two roles at the same tile under the same user account. You could create a new account to test out the permissions. We do this when we want to test how user settings without the administrator permissions. My understanding is that an Admin has access to all permissions. As an Admin, you may need to assign the extension to yourself (assign licenses), but that you won't need to activate the Role permissions. For a non-admin account, you would have to both activate the license extension AND adjust the role permissions.

We just encountered the same issue. Would be great to know that it's not just enabling the license, but that there is another permission that also needs to be enabled.

Agree! As we are exploring ArcGIS Image, and have students running image analyses, we would like to more closely monitor file storage and tile storage size (feature storage size would also be nice). We can't pull that from the Organizational Credits report. However, it is available in the Organizational Items Credit report. Why can't a summary of each individual's credit consumption be summarized in the Organizational Credit Report?

I support: that ‘create a group with update capabilities’ be made a non-administrative privilege in order to more easily facilitate collaboration amongst users. Our University struggles with the same thing. We would like this function to be part of the new member defaults, however because it is listed as a admin privilege, we cannot automatically assign this to users to enable them to "create group with update capabilities." Our current work around is to have all members assigned a default role and then we transition them to a role that is not assigned as a new member default. We haven't encountered the Notebook issue, but users are still ramping up on using those. Given the warning you are getting @Caitlin_Dickinson, that would confuse our users as well.

Fully support customizable emails. This would help alleviate some of the emails that come in from students on password resets, as well as license updates.

I second this for Higher Education institutions. While we have SAML enabled for our campus affiliates, our license also covers students enrolled in Extension courses. For these Extension students, we must create AGO accounts for them. It would be great when I create them to assign at the time of creation a disable date. Or if not at creation, then allow me to go in an schedule them ahead of time to disable at a certain date.

I am getting several questions from researchers who would like to take their StoryMaps offline so that they can share their work with communities around the world where internet connection is not reliable or not as accessible. As mentioned above, could someone have the option to export the StoryMap into some type of file that would enable offline exploration. Perhaps the file is stored on a laptop, or accessible through a phone or tablet. I would think there would be limitations in the zoom functionality of any maps (defined by StoryMap creator) As for embedded websites or videos, perhaps there are workflow considerations to enable either a screen shot of a website or videos would need to be included in ArcGIS Online. Is this a consideration for StoryMaps or still not even on the radar for development?

Thanks for the feedback. I've been working with some students / researchers who would like the option to center some text in certain text boxes. This is primarily with the main text boxes, not the sidecar content. Specifically they would like to center some of their references, acknowledgements, and contact information at the bottom of the StoryMap.
