I now realise that most of my points about the "Favorite answers" part were already mentionned here: Survey123 Feature Request: Persistent Answers. I added new information about the Editing process.

Try looking the solution to this question: https://community.esri.com/message/788867-viewing-survey123-form-on-web-pale-blue-wrapper Maybe something similar can be worked for your case.

Hi, I spotted 2 potential problem with the Survey123 UI (Not the survey themself but the app UI). The first is this one: -Feature layer settings are made to not allow Edits -User send a survey -User edit the survey he just sent and then send it again -Result: The survey fail to send, but no error is shown to the user. Of course we can see a small red circle next to the survey after the fact but the error will only show once the user click on the survey that failed to be sent. This should be made more obvious right when the user try to send the edited survey. In fact, I think the app should check with the feature service to see if the survey can be edited or not before allowing the user to edit it. The second problem is about the way answers are defined as favourite in a survey. We came across a case where a less tech savy user could have send us bad data unintentionally by trying to use this functionality. Here is what happened: -User open the Survey for the first time. -Answer a question asking for his name. -Set answer as favorite, thinking that only his name will be remembered. -Then he continue answering the survey until the end, ignoring that all other answered questions will also be saved as favorite. -The next time he fills a new survey he pastes his favorite answer thinking only his name will be filled. But actually more answers are filled. And some of those answer can be under a hidden group of rarely answered questions so that the user might not spot the problem. So I think the way favorite answers are saved is not intuitive enough (Start a survey -> answer some questions only -> save as favorite -> Quit the survey -> save as draft) It would be great if it could be possible to disable the "Favorite answer" button for a survey. Or, as an alternative, mark some question as "Can't be saved as favorite". The reason I would like this functionality is to ensure data Integrity of the answers. Thank you for your time EDIT: For the first problem about trying to edit a Sent survey for which you don't have editing right, I found a new problem that is not optimal. If you tried to send such a survey, it will fail as stated before. But what make it worst is that the survey dissapear from the "Sent" folder and then get stuck in another folder ("Outbox" or something similar in english), leaving the user with no choice but to delete it. It would be great if the survey could be send back in the "Sent" folder so that the user doesn't lose any data when attempting to edit a survey. The correct workflow I would like my user to do to edit a survey is to actualy chose "Copy sent data in a new survey" from the "Sent" box. As stated above, this become impossible for them to do if they make the wrong choice (Click Edit instead of Copy).

Thank you for your help. It turns out the 2 character language code is NOT optional. Here is what I did to solve the error: 1-Under the settings tab, set defaut language to: French (fr) 2-Under survey tab, set label name to: label::French (fr) If I omit the (fr) tag in either of these 2 places then the warning will appear.

Hi, I have a question regarding calculation of a select one question. Imagine a simple Yes - No select_one question. My calculation field currently looks like this: if(${value} >=10,'yes',null) Current behavior if value is above 10: "Yes" is selected. Current behavior if value is under10: There is no choice selected So far so good. Now if the value is under 10 and I select either "Yes" or "No", I see the green "refresh arrows" on the right. I don't want that. What I am trying to achieve if for the green arrow to be displayed only if the calculation resulted in the "Yes" selection. Basicly, what I would like is this: -If value is >= 10, then do a calculation -Else do not calculate the field at all (so that I don't see the green arrows if I make a choice) Is it possible to do that? I tried to do this with the "Null" in the If statement, but it didn't work. Thank you for your time

Did this release change something regarding conditions in the Relevant field referencing a select_one question? Something broke in my Survey with the new release. I have a Note that is Relevant based on the previous Select_one answer. Something like this: if(selected(${yesNoQuestion}, 'yes'), 1, 0) This no longer seems to work with 3.0. Worked fine before with 2.8 EDIT: Ok it was a problem on my side. The update is fine regarding this issue. Also I now have the following warning in Survey123 Connect: "The following language declarations do not contain valid machine-readable codes: fr. Learn more: http://xlsform.org/#language" I did not have this warning before.

Hi, I would like to know for how long is Survey123 planned to be supported (If known at all). My organisation is seriously considering ditching our old tools and replacing them with survey123. The survey would be used on a daily basis by numerous people to gather important data. There is a risk involved for us since our current tools currently work fine (but are getting old), but once we make the switch we cannot afford to go back to what we currently have. We would like to be sure Survey123 and ArcGIS Online won't be turned offline in a few years. So is Survey123 planned to be running for, say, the next 10 years?

I also confirm that for a DATE field, the constraint is enforced only at the end of the survey when you try to send the survey. I tested this on Survey123 for ArcGIS on windows 7 (Not to be confused with the Validate button in Survey123 CONNECT). It would be great if this could be enforced sooner as a lot of my other constraint depends on the date.

Thank you for your answer. I would like to add that the same issue appear when showing a question controlled by a "relevant" field. For exemple, unlocking a big select_one question when entering a certain value in a field above. Again, the issue only appear when the field is almost to the top of the page.

Sometimes, collapsing a group make the screen scroll up. The expected behavior I have is for the group title and arrow to always stay exactly where they were when I press the collapse button. Otherwise it is easy to get lost in the survey The behavior doesn't always show itself, so I have attached a survey that show the problem. To reproduce, follow these steps: 1- Reveal the group "Test1" 2-Scroll down until the group header "Test1" is almost to the top of the page 3-Collapse the group "Test1" 4-You can see that your mouse pointer is no longer over the collapse button. I have reproduced the behavior on Survey Connect and also on an Iphone. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

Is it possible to collapse group by clicking on their name? Currently i can only collapse them by cliking on the small arrow next to their name. This require some precision as the arrow are quite small on mobile devices.

I just stumbled across this post. I think this might be useful for what you are trying to achieve: https://community.esri.com/thread/210128-survey123-calculate-field Basicly you create an hidden field that can't be edited. Then when you supply your survey link you add the hidden field value in the link that will unlock all the questions. I don't know how secure this can be (can hidden question be revealed by a hacker?) but I think it can be a nice alternative.

I have the same problem as you. Right now what we are doing is add a survey question of type "text" with caption "Username" and/or "Password". You could place a list of username and password in a CSV file and validate the entry using the pulldata fonction. BUT, It seems the CSV file is not actualy 100% secure. Someone malicious could find the password list (I have no more information on that, but I read this somewhere). So what we end up doing is to keep the Usrename and password text field, but we do no validation on them. When they upload the survey results, we download it form ArcGIS Online on our own server and we do the password validation there. If the validation fail then the Survey data won't enter our database. This won't prevent anyone from accessing the Survey, but this prevent unauthorized people from sending us data. What I would like to know is if the actual Survey web adress is private unless you share it with anyone.

It is also important to remember that public surveys can only be open in the Survey123 field app by using the provided link. It is not possible to download public surveys from the Download Gallery. We did this on purpose, because we do not want people to get distracted with random public surveys in the gallery. Is the same thing true for Survey opened on the web browser? I would like to know if my public survey can be hidden from anyone who dosn't have the exact link to the Survey?
