Hi Sam, Are you seeing the new Cascades you created yesterday not show up in My Stories in https://storymaps.arcgis.com or in your Content in your ArcGIS Online organization? Do you remember some more specifics: 1. Which browser - Safari or Chrome or Firefox? 2. Did you author the templates using Create > Using a template in Content or using My Stories > Create a story > Cascade? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Nicole, Background videos in immersive sections work best when they set the mood or provide an ambient experience. For example, this story from the Fish and Wildlife Service (the one shown in the screenshot above) uses background video with ambient sound very effectively. If you have a video with speech or narration, it’s recommended you use it in a narrative section or panel. This is especially true if the speech begins immediately at the start of the video. Videos in narrative sections require readers to click to begin playback, which ensures they won’t miss anything important at the beginning of the video. For example, this story about commuting in Washington DC features video testimonials in narrative sections. Thank you, Aravind

Hi Nicole, Just a quick update. We're seeing this behavior on our end with a couple of web scenes, Cascade and IE 11 and we'll have someone follow up with you on the Esri Technical Support-side of things today to inform you on how you can keep track of this. Meanwhile, we will investigate this more. Thanks for being very helpful and patient thus far. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Nicole, That is helpful to isolate. I can reproduce the problem on my end with a simple webscene in Cascade against IE 11. Let me get back to you with some updates. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Chris, I apologize for the delay in getting back to this issue. It seems like that the functionality of story maps is limited in the Map Series template to not be able to perform Search or Filter on the fly AND keep the map views in sync with each other. I was wondering of this as a workaround and you can let me know if this is feasible for you as an organization: 1.) Can you publish the 4 different views as cached map services to your enterprise and then store them as basemaps as part of your organization's basemap gallery group? 2.) This webmap and then a webapp can be leveraged to use a Basemap Gallery Widget which can change the default basemap lying underneath it. 3.) You can add a filter to this webapp and then insert it into your Storymap with some context for what the application will do. Your current conundrum is trying to keep all the views synced but i feel you can accomplish it by using the layers for each view as a basemap that you can toggle to keep things synced in one place. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Susan, Thank you for sharing your issue here on the Story Maps space. I currently tested this issue on the following OS & Browser versions: MacOS Mojave v10.14.1 Chrome Browser v70.0.3538.102. To narrow down this problem, can we confirm if the problem is because of the OS or your browser? With a Safari browser on your MacOS, does it work? I don't seem to be prompted for an update to .110 of Chrome yet to see if this version causes problems. Thanks, Aravind

Thank you for detailed reply, Nicole. I'll try to compare the two URLs you've shared and see if there's any difference content-wise. But, do you know if appid=1c16ffa206244f03953a33b06617df7b was built after the September release (~ September 18th) of AGOL and if the previous app was built before? If so, I'd see if you can use the ArcGIS Online Assistant utility to simply make a copy of the Cascade application in your content and see if the duplicated app works correctly in IE as the next step. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Maureen, Thank you for that reply! As my colleague Rupert noted in the previous thread, this was a known issue which was fixed in Enterprise 10.6. I was able to confirm both the behavior and the fix in the corresponding Enterprise releases of 10.5.1 and 10.6. Nicole, can you see if creating a simple Cascade app with some images uploaded from your PC has this same issue or not? If a new Cascade app doesn't cause this issue, but the Meacham Creek Watershed app does, is it possible to give me an estimate of when this app was created? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Nicole and Maureen, I'd like to make sure that this is a reproducible case for our testing. So, I'm piecing together the workflow that you're using with Cascade app: 1.) You author the Cascade app (Builder) using which browser? - Firefox/Chrome/Safari OS? 2.) It seems like on every load of the Cascade viewer on IE11, the cover media that you have displays. It's only the media in the body that don't show up - Is there a difference in terms of where the source for these two media are, i.e. Is the cover media coming from Flickr or Unsplashed or From your Computer and is this different in how you bring in the files for Media/Immersive section of the Cascade app? 3.) We've ruled out the possibility of IE11's version or security policy of either of your organizations to be the cause since we can all see this problem. One other thing that I'd like to clarify is that we do support viewing Cascade apps on Internet Explorer. The confusion must have stemmed from authoring Cascade on IE 11 which you cannot do so. Nicole, if you recall the Case # for the issue with Technical Support, I'd be happy to take a look into this in detail for you. Thank you to both of you for your patience in working through this issue. Thank you, Aravind

Hi Nicole, 1. Can you share the storymap you've created with us, if its publicly available? 2. Can you see if this link loads correctly with the images and text in your browser (IE11): Macy's on Parade 3. Was Cascade story maps created using ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS on ArcGIS Enterprise? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Justin, Think of the relational ArcGIS Data Store as a database connection on ArcGIS Server. It is a type of managed database connection registered on the federated server. Therefore, it's not possible to register database connections with the Data Store. You can add data such as a feature class/table into it and that is done when you publish hosted feature services with relationships to a standalone table. I believe you're referring to live data sources as services that use data from registered enterprise geodatabases or databases with ArcGIS Server. The limitation of creating relationships at this point is that you can't join registered feature layers stored outside ArcGIS Data Store on the hosting server. If I am not mistaken and you can correct me, you're looking to use relationships on data sources that will reflect data that are constantly updated on the geodatabase/database. You can do this by publishing a hosted feature service to your ArcGIS Data Store/Portal once and then update it nightly by using ArcGIS API for Python: Updating your hosted feature services with ArcGIS Pro and the ArcGIS API for Python. This blog contains instructions on how to do this for ArcGIS Online hosted feature services, you can update your connection to Portal and perform these steps for ArcGIS Enterprise as well. So, with the script updating your data every day and if you create a model in Insights for the relationship between the different datasets, you can just update the model every day in the workbook to give you the updated version of the relationship. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Biju, Thank you for clarifying that. I think the tool you're looking for is this: Data migration from one storage type to another—Help | ArcGIS Desktop You should be able to use this to convert BLOB (SDELOB) to ST_Geometry. With the help of python and ArcPy you can script this to run against all the feature classes in the geodatabase if you'd like or a specific set. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Biju, In the screenshots provided we see that you're using a feature class created using the ArcFM objects. Can you show us a screenshot of the default storage type used when you create a feature class unassociated with ArcFM objects? Thank you, Aravind

Hey Paolo, I apologize for my late response! The way I'd like to think of "Cross Filtering" is to compare it to dynamic selection. When you select a bar in a chart card in Insights, it automatically displays all points falling within that attribute in the map card. In the background, however, you can see that this selection on the map card is in "context" of other existing points that were not selected which is presented with higher transparency so you can see what are the correct points, per se. Cross Filtering eliminates this context and only shows you the exact points in the map card that you need to see without all of the background transparent points. To use Cross Filters, you select one or more cards that you're interested to see this in and then click on the Cross Filter button. Now, when you make selections, this will allow you to see target selections. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you, Aravind

Hi Pedro, The ability to "sync extents" for a chart card is not available in Insights for ArcGIS v2.3. I'd recommend posting this as an idea in https://community.esri.com/community/arcgis-ideas to gain traction. If you can specify what your use case is and how you'd like this functionality to be used for, that would help us. Thank you, Aravind
