Collections are a new way of bundling related stories together in a single location that can be managed by you, the author and viewed by your readers when shared. Get started by logging into the new ArcGIS StoryMaps, clicking your profile picture in the header, and selecting My Collections (beta). You can also use the URL: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections. This is the first release of this beta feature, and we'll be adding lots more capabilities in the future, but we'd like to hear your first impressions and thoughts: How was your experience of creating a collection and adding stories to it? Is there anything you were expecting to do, and couldn’t? Have you tried the present mode? How often do you see yourself using a Collection to present to your work to your audience?

Hi Marvin, The new ArcGIS StoryMaps doesn't support group editing just yet, but we plan to add features for collaborating on stories in the future. For now, only admins and members in a custom role with the administrative privilege to update all items in the organization can edit someone else's story. Aravind

Hi Scott, This should be addressed in 10.7 Enterprise as part of this patch that went out: https://support.esri.com/en/Products/Enterprise/portal-for-arcgis/portal-for-arcgis/10-7-1#downloads?id=7711. Please let me know if you're still seeing this problem in Cascade after installing it. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Rohit, The reason you're probably getting a "refused to connect" error after embedding content from Google Drive/Box/DropBox is that their server doesn't allow you to embed a content into another website like Story Maps. This might be because they might only allow content to embedded within places of the same domain/origin. So, you would have probably run into these errors: CORS errors - HTTP | MDN If you don't have access to external servers, you can host using a web server that your organization uses to host content via their website where you can control CORS and other same-origin headers.

Hi Benjamin, Can you share the URLs to any of the test logos you've tried so far? I was able to dig through the gallery and find a sample one that works: Logo. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Heather, I was looking into this workflow today and the reason the images appear broken in the popup is because the pic_URL field does not have the required token needed to display the image. This might happen if your feature service is not shared publicly. We create these fields in the Map Tour template and generate the token (if private or shared to the org) within our application in order for the images to appear the way we want to. Exposing the short-lived token in the field would be a security risk and also wouldn't dynamically update after a given amount of time. Two solutions to this problem could be: 1.) Hosting the images in your web server and then using our CSV template for Map Tour to reference the URLs to these images in the pic_URL field of the CSV will retain them when it gets converted into a feature service. OR 2.) Sharing the feature layer you currently have publicly. I'd request that you upvote the following idea: https://community.esri.com/ideas/9669 since this workflow would be a lot simpler to just view the attachment as an image in the popup. Thanks, Aravind

Ben, Thanks for clarifiying that. If you need the swiper within the AGOL popup, i don't think this is a possibility since we do not support embedding <script> tags inside the custom attribute display. One way of workaround is if you could try to host the entire html in a page and embed the iframe or html in the popup. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Ben, The Story Map Swipe and Spyglass template offers the functionality you are looking for: Esri Story Map Swipe and Spyglass - An App for Comparing Maps. You'd have to create a webmap in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS, have 2 feature layers with popups enabled to represent the "before" and "after" states or how you demarcate the change in visualization and feed the Web Map ID into this template. Here's a popular example that illustrates this: http://storymaps.esri.com/stories/diabetes Thanks, Aravind

Hi Rishika, I just wanted to follow up with you and let you know that it is required for the map tour layer to be visible at the scale that the Map Tour template loads. It is not possible currently for the set visible range from the webmap to be honored in Map Tour application. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Rishika, That was very helpful. Thank you for sharing - I reproduced your same steps with some sample points in my organization. The issue is when you change the visibility range to Street/City/Town/Neighborhood Area, the Map Tour template becomes blank on Preview or on a shared link. I'd recommend changing the visibility range to "World" for the Map Tour layer, save the webmap and reload for the template to start showing content again. I would recommend that you control the Zoom Level for the Story Points in the Map Tour template itself. I'll try to do some digging to see if there is a way to control the visibility range for the layer to be used in the template or not. Thanks, Aravind

Hi Rishika, Thanks for sharing the URL of the app you've made. Since it doesn't seem to load, we'd like to gather some information about the workflow you've done so far in getting to this step: 1.) What was the type of layout that this map tour uses - Side-panel, Three panel or integrated? 2.) Did you import the tour data using a CSV file or upload each image individually for points? Thanks, Aravind

Hi Steven, No worries! I think to just really confirm whether you have access to the apps or not, lets see if you can go to My Stories as the signed in ArcGIS Online user and click on Create Story > any template. If the builder launches and you can author the story, you do have access to the stormap apps. Thanks, Aravind

Hey Sam, We just did some digging and your other Cascade story should also appear now in My Stories as well. You can technically continue to use these stories or use your recreated stories as per your choice. We apologize for that little bit of delay in the items showing up. During the ArcGIS Online update yesterday, a few apps created during a specific time window didn't appear right away. However, the apps are all OK. Hope both your stories work and had the same progress as you left them in the last saved state yesterday. Feel free to reply here if you have additional questions on this. Thanks, Aravind
