Hi Russell, Do you know if this exists for the new vector basemaps? I'm trying to find the World topographic maps with no labels.

Exactly, when read, <=7 looks like "This category contains every value that is less than or equal to 7." But it there are lower values, that's never the case.

When I am creating a map in ArcGIS Pro, many times the default legend labels are not intuitive. In the picture below, you can see the labels default to <= 5 and <=10, which can cause confusion, because technically 3 would fit in the <= 10 category when in reality it would always be in the <=5 category. A more intuitive approach would be like I've shown, having the default set to the range of values included. And in the last slot it could say "or greater" or "or higher," although I understand if that's not a common enough need. It seems to me like there's no reason to have the default set to what it currently is, since I've always learned that good map making should always consider the reader first. I hope this change will be implemented in a future release.

Hmm, okay. I appreciate the response, and I know the dev teams must be working hard and have a lot to do. But is there a workaround to prevent these files being created? Because my computer spent hours deleting these files that were created in only a month or so.

Kory, thanks for looking into this. Do we have any idea as to when 2.2 (or a patch for 2.1) will be releasing? I also have been having this issue.

Thanks for the response Carmel! Just so I'm clear, what's the default way of creating a new feature class in Online? I've done it using the feature class templates, but those all seem to have too many fields and be specific to a particular use.

I'm recommending some of my users to use Map Notes when creating one-off maps in ArcGIS Online. It's typically quicker than creating a full feature class if only a few points or polygons are needed. The only issue is they want to label those features, but there doesn't seem to be an easy option for that. You can have text as a Map Note, but I'd like the option to select "Label Features" and have the Name of the Map Note display. Is this possible, and I'm just missing it, or is the stand-alone text in Map Notes really the only option here?

My guess is ArcGIS Pro would be the go-to place to customize symbols, but I think Online could use some improvements in functionality even if it doesn't get the full capabilities Pro has.

One of the main uses I have for Pro instead of ArcMap is its multiple layouts ability, often referencing the same map. This feature is pretty vital to that functionality. Also, it could use the existing framework for "lock" buttons that already exist in Pro. Easier on the devs, easier on the users.

I've had this same issue. I've taught people to use Pro and this always comes up a something very non-intuitive. I personally have added the "Close Map Frame Activation" tool to my Quick Access toolbar just to make it quicker to access. Adding a few tags for visibility: #arc pro #arcgispro #mapframe #activation

I'm trying to create a Story Map Tour using an existing online map. In the FAQ, it says: Can I assemble content in my GIS and then publish it as a Map Tour? Yes. You can create a layer that uses the set of fields that the Map Tour expects, add it to a web map, open that web map, and then share it by creating a Story Map Tour app. The Map Tour Builder will recognize your layer and use it to define the Tour. But there's no description of which fields the Map Tour expects, and I wasn't able to find a blog post or GeoNet post explaining it. Thanks in advance for any help anyone gives!

This makes sense, but I think it's not that simple. ArcMap has zoom backward from typical applications these days (think Google Maps), so it seems like Esri has been correcting that in all recent products. But I'm not sure it would be a good idea to change the default of ArcMap at this point for two reasons: 1) Users of ArcMap might already be used to its scroll-zoom settings 2) ArcMap is on a slow decline. Since Esri is encouraging people to move toward Pro, it doesn't make a lot of sense to make a change like this now.
