Having been an American Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer since I was very young, and having participated in a joint US-Mexico-Canada International Disaster Delegate training in 1980, I can assure you that your GIS work really helps to understand the seriousness of the disaster which caused so much damage and suffering. It is great that you are able to share on this platform such in depth description and analysis.

@Juan_CarlosTarazona Thank you for this initial work, which highlights why it is critical to get the funding flowing to best respond to the humanitarian needs being experienced in Venezuela. I would like to urge you to continue to follow up describing how conditions might be improving as time goes by. Let us know how we might be able to support your good works.

great bilingual article - I read in Spanish first as my daughter and one of her sons are in Costa Rica at the moment. He is starting high school and very committed to studying our environment. I was surprised how much he knows about frogs.... I urge readers to follow this link https://www.cengageschool.com/solutions/social-studies?utm_medium=partner&utm_source=ngs&utm_campaign=fy27_k12_mapmaker_support_hub_socialstudies&utm_audience=school&utm_cta=learnmore&utm_adtype=landingpage. clicking on the following VIEW SOCIAL STUDIES catalog. WE MUST ALL COMMIT to actions that will improve our environment; we can do something about the social ills caused by too much greed and lack of commitment to passing on a world better than we found.

Thank you to everyone for contributing to making this string a great discussion. I have been focusing on the University of California Sustainability guidelines , and was impressed by the depth of this discussion. =https://policy.ucop.edu/doc/3100155/SustainablePractices.

No worries - translations almost always cause extra work that I'm glad I undertake, but am slow to. Keep up your good works. (a small sample of the translation).... Automating ArcGIS Monitor Alert Analysis Reports with Playwright MCP Introduction ArcGIS Monitor is a powerful tool for monitoring the health of ArcGIS Enterprise environments. However, operations staff must review the alerts that arise daily, analyze their content, and prepare status updates or reports. Since many of these tasks are repetitive, automating them with AI agents could help reduce the operational workload. In this article, we explore the use of Playwright MCP and GitHub Copilot Agent to automate the entire process: retrieving alert information from ArcGIS Monitor, analyzing that data, and generating a Word report. What is Playwright? Playwright is a browser automation tool developed by Microsoft. It enables the automation of actions such as launching web browsers, navigating between pages, clicking buttons, and filling out forms, making it widely used for web application testing and automating routine browser tasks......

@LaurenceLitrico Thanks for posting. Definitely looking forward to read more about the 2026 IMGIS conference that took place in one of my favorite cities - Frankfurt, Germany. It has been exciting to see some of the work being done to improve the energy infrastructure around the world. No matter whether wind or solar so much is being done to transition away from heavily polluting fossil fuels. @EzraCheruiyot The Infrastructure Management & GIS conference is all about smart communities. In the US, in the EU, increasingly in Asia and South America GIS pros are doing amazing things annually to build the infrastructure necessary for improving our communities. This year at the University of California GIS week, as with ESRI IMGIS conference, it will be possible to view the great work being done.... My plea is for collaborations that might be able to scale up good ideas.... I want to encourage submissions from GIS pros around the globe, but I definitely want to encourage GIS pros from Africa to submit, and collaborate with local university research aiming to scale up.

Never did I ever think I would have to wait this long to field comments from GIS pros in this community. Has anyone read - Can the Pact for the Future Restore UN Confidence Quickly? I'm sure there are acceptable solutions that might be posted, perhaps even a deep dig into some of the great projects that were quickly described during UC 2026.

@vivianleilandi. Great question, and there are lots of ways to find entryways for well qualified GIS pros. Contact a United Nations HQ office or the office of the UNDP Resident Coordinator if almost any country you might be interested in working.... Explain your specific interest and that you have GIS skill sets. This is afterall, the Decade of Action in the United Nations. Spend time reviewing the United Nations Academic Impact. There is a new report Implementation of the SDGs in Higher Education Institutions - Best Practices. Being actively engaged pressing forward on 33 campuses of higher education in California, some schools are certainly doing better than others. But my unsolicited advice is to drop by your local university or certainly where you have or want to have alumni status, and ask to be put in contact with whomever manages the GIS software on campus. I'm sure you find ways to get involved.

@TreavonClark Excellent post. As a fellow Buckeye, it was sad you failed to highlight the football stadium, but understandable. When I visit the campus again in the future, your work will add helpful new thoughts. I wonder whether there is a place on campus where visitors might teleport to reviewing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? Have you seen the virtual reality nexus on the campus of San Jose State University? May I back up for a moment to say it was delightful to meet OSU grads in so many countries in our world during my professional career with the UN and US government. Your GIS work is going to be very helpful for students in the future to explore interconnectiveness. Keep up the good works!!!

Thank you Mr. Phillips for the good work you are doing in Georgia. I came across this post after I had read Sunny Fleming post on work being done in Tennessee. The University of Tennessee Chattanooga is a great place for students to do research that helps improve their communities. Encouraging students to hone GIS skill sets is critical to making our world a better place. I wonder how many more universities that GIS can be introduced to in this decade to press forward development....?
