I am trying to write a Python script to simply overwrite a feature layer to ArcGIS Online. I have read some other GeonNet posts, and took a look at the Python API, but still can't find a good example for what I'm trying to do. The script would just overwrite the feature service in ArcGIS Online using the same local data source each time the script is run. The dataset is changing on our system weekly. But the service is published in ArcGIS Online because it gets a lot of traffic, and they can better handle scaling than our local server environment. If ArcGIS Pro would let you run this process as a geoprocessing tool, then I could just copy the Python code snippet. Any tips or sample code would be very helpful. Here is a walk-through of the manual process: Launch ArcGIS Pro document that contains local data source > sign-in to ArcGIS Online > manually overwrite feature service > close ArcGIS Pro. By the way, I am open to ArcMap/Python 2 solution to this. Though I do prefer a Python 3 approach.

I believe I may be experiencing a similar issue. When our geodatabase and client (ArcMap) were at 10.5.1 (and windows server 2008R2), I could run the Analyze Datasets tool just fine. But after we migrated to a new server (windows server 2019), and upgraded geodatabase and ArcMap to 10.7.1, I keep getting this error. I can still run the Rebuild Indexes tool. How do you figure out what kind of geometry type the database is using?

I had a question regarding connecting to ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases ("SDE") using Python scripts. My goal is to copy datasets from our production database (and a file geodatabase) to a file geodatabase to our CAD network. The enterprise database is one what we'll call "server 1." And the file geodatabase we're copyin from is on "server 2." I am able to copy data from a file geodatabase (server2) on our network to the CADnetwork. But it fails on SDE datasets. The error message is about the dataset not existing or not being supported (error 732). ArcMap nor ArcGIS Pro is installed on the CAD server running the script, but it does have ArcGIS Server installed. When I run the Describe function on an SDE connection file on the CAD server, the "dataType" is "File." But when I run it on my computer, it is "Workspace." Do I need to install ArcGIS Desktop, or is it potentially some other issue?

I am developing an ArcPy script that will copy data from our "courthouse network" to our "cad network." Due to restrictions on the CAD network, I must access the drive I'm copying data to using fully-qualified domain name, and pass a username and password. I'm not sure how to do this through a Python script. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I ended up using the goTo() method for the map view object within the search-complete event of the Search widget. // set map view during search complete event searchWidget.on('search-complete', function(response) { // latitude of result const latitude = response.results[0].results[0].extent.center.latitude; // longitude to result const longitude = response.results[0].results[0].extent.center.longitude; // set map view to result coordinates mapView.goTo({ center: [longitude, latitude], zoom: 17 });

I wanted to get people's thoughts and opinions on adding a full-screen widget to a web map embedded on a website. Is this a feature the average used would want? Or expect? Would entering the map in full-screen mode be an added benefit? Or is the purpose of a map embedded on a page to be small and limited in size? Basically, what are the pros and cons of adding this feature?

I am encountering a quirk or potential issue with the Search widget using the JS API 4.x My search widget includes a geocoding service and feature layer source. I have set a zoomScale property for both sources. When searching against the geocoding service, the scale is being honored (I believe). But when searching against the feature layer, it is not. I am aware that I could use the goToOverride method to resolve this. However, it is my opinion that the widget is not working properly. Any help is appreciated. I have a demo at https://codepen.io/pmckinney/pen/MWYLggN. Sample searches: 15 W High Street, Carlisle New Courthouse 321 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg MDJ 09-3-01

I wanted to share a solution I developed to incorporate the alt attribute to the featured images associated with the Map Tour Classic StoryMap. My solution adds the alt attribute to the images in the carousel, the block where the text is on top of the image, and for the image modal pop-out. My assumption is that there is probably a better way to approach this problem then I did. Therefore, I created a GitHub Gist to share my solution. I am hoping other web accessibility-minded developers can contribute to improving this solution. View GitHub Gist

I am working on developing a JavaScript solution to add the alt attribute to images in map popups. Using the events listed in this repo's readme, I cannot get consistent results when changing between webmaps. I have tried the code in different topic.subscribe sections within the custom-scripts.js file. Is there an event that fires when the webmaps change? I'll provide my sample code below. Any help is greatly appreciated: let webmap = app.map;
webmap.on('click', function() {
// only execute code if a popup is displayed on click
if (webmap.infoWindow.isShowing) {
// img elements within the feature popup
let popupImage = document.querySelectorAll('div.image > img')[0];
if (typeof popupImage !== 'undefined') {
// popup title - bridge name
let bridgeNameElement = document.querySelectorAll('div.esriViewPopup > div.mainSection > div.header')[0].innerHTML;
// add alt attribute using bridge's name
popupImage.setAttribute('alt', bridgeNameElement);// || 'some string'
}
}
});

Are you referring to the "Aurora" version of Collector? Is there a target release date for the new version for Android? My users will be very excited to be able to scan bardcodes!

This page linked to seems to imply, but does not explicitly state that these features are only supported on iOS devices. I was excited that my Android users might be able to scan bar-codes for a field that captures USI information. But it appears they cannot as they are Android users. That is an inference, as it is not explicitly stated on the page you linked too.

Is there a way to manually set the colors when using color ramps to symbolize data in ArcGIS Online? It seems like it would be a basic feature, but I cannot figure it out.

I had a question regarding maps and apps created in ArcGIS Online. It seems that a layer will only display on the legend when it is displayed on the map. If the map is at a scale where they layer is not set to turn on (scale dependency), then the layer will not display on the map. But once a user zooms in, the layer turns on, and then it appears in the legend. Is this the default behavior of the legend? If so, is there a way to get the layers to always show in the legend, even if they have a scale dependency set?

We haven't upgraded to 10.7 yet. We wait for the 10.x.1 releases before upgrading. I was just trying to figure out ahead of time if we would experience this bug at 10.7.1. Our users who edit annotation are still using 10.3.1 due to the bug.
