What does the group level sharing control? Is it just who can see the group but not necessarily the content within the group. For example, I found a group that had be shared with everyone (so the public) then there is a service that is shared with the group only. So, can the public see the service? Or is it only members of the group?

I have a feature service published to portal 10.8.1 from a feature class within an oracle sde 10.6.1. This feature service is then used in a portal app. A handful of users will be editing the feature service within the app. Also, once in a while a GIS tech will be cleaning up the feature class from ArcMap. Right now the sde feature class is not registered as versioned. Everything appears to be working fine. What is the best practice? I did read this it appears like my use case does not require a versioned feature class. https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/publish-services/windows/what-is-a-feature-service-.htm

We are upgrading Enterprise from 10.7.1 to 10.8.1. Our Portal environment uses portal tier authentication. When I installed web adaptor for portal I got this when trying to configure it: "Error message 401.3: You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied (access denied due to Access Control Lists). Ask the Web server's administrator to give you access to 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\portal\webadaptor\WebAdaptor.aspx'." After some pain I found that granting full access to IUSR the web adaptor folder fixed the issue. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10418669/hosting-asp-net-in-iis7-gives-access-is-denied Is the IUSR supposed to have full access to the web adaptor folders with portal tier authentication?

I was under the impression that ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 did not the vulnerable versions of log4j. This assumption was based off the early mitigation steps from Esri recommending an upgrade to 10.8 or higher (this was the recommendation (posted around 12/13/2021) before the mitigation scripts were released. https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-enterprise/administration/arcgis-software-and-cve-2021-44228-aka-log4shell-aka-logjam/ But I see that the mitigation scripts are recommended after an upgrade for all versions. "After upgrading Enterprise do I need to re-run the script again (for example, 10.9 to 10.9.1) Yes" https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000026995 After doing an upgrade to 10.8.1 in our dev environment we reran the scripts and it removed a number of new log4j files. Do all versions of ArcGIS Enterprise have the vulnerability? Therefore, an upgrade just reinstalls the vulnerable code?

updatelicense.bat Esri doc. If your ArcGIS Server license expires, you must update the license on the ArcGIS Server site. The license information is also stored in the ArcGIS Data Store relational data store; therefore, after updating the license of the ArcGIS Server site with which the data store is configured, you must update the license in the data store. To do that, run the updatelicense utility from the machine where your primary ArcGIS Data Store is installed. If you have a standby ArcGIS Data Store, the updated license will be replicated to it. https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/data-store/latest/install/windows/data-store-utility-reference.htm This sure makes it sound like it is stored in the Datastore as well...

Thanks fro the feedback Robert. No we are not using eGDB replication and/or archiving. Reconciling and posting We have a large number of versions so reconciling and posting them all is impossible. "Another thing to try is to open your sde.VERSIONS and see which child VERSIONs are pointing to a State_ID of zero." -- how do I find the version that is pointing to state 0? All of are state ids are advanced well past state 0. And they all have default as a parent. Lastly, my core question is this: if a delta row can not be linked back to a version with the above sql should it be available for compression? In other words if rows that are not linked to a versions are not getting compressed there is an issues with the versioning in the geodatabase.
