I looked at how to factory reset a nomad 1050, and it is supposed to be possible by holding down a series of buttons, but I couldn't get it to work. I will keep this solution in mind if I encounter a situation where I need to factory reset. Thank you, so much

Hi Stephen, I wanted to update you. I sent the device in for repairs because it would not factory reset. They reset it, and returned it. I reinstalled arcpad, and reinitialized the mr. sid extension, and it works now! it's silly but i'm excited that it's working. Thank you again for all your help and input. I really appreciate it. Faith

here is an image of the file with all its extensions. Like I have said, one particularly confusing aspect is the folder "imagery" does not appear from the "add data" list. Because the uninstall reinstall didn't work, I figured I would try a factory reset after backing up the data and going from there. The device would not factory reset. the onscreen commands never came up. I think there might be something bigger going on with the device. It is still under warranty so I am considering sending it in for repair. I would love to hear if you think it may be something that I can fix, however. Thank you!

I double checked, and yes both Mr. Sid and Tiff are checked. Thank you for the suggestion, and I welcome any other ideas.

I copied the data from the device onto my desktop. I was able to view it in catalog without a problem. I noticed that there was the tif and the sid in the file so only moved the sid back onto the device because they are much smaller files. I was/am still not able to find the folder or files in arcpad, even though it shows up in the file explorer.

Hi All, I have a Trimble Nomad 1050 with ArcPad installed that is not reading my folders with mr sid imagery files in them. When I look on Windows Mobile file explorer from my PC, I can see the data and the folders. When I use the file explorer on the device, I can see the folder and the files. When I go to "Add Data" from ArcPad, the file does not show up at all. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled ArcPad; I have reduced the amount of data in the files; I have added the imagery outside of a file both directly onto the main memory, and on the storage card. I have made sure the MrSid extension is active. I even sent the device in for repairs, but it was sent back in the same condition. Before I send it off to a different Trimble repair service, I want to make sure, if possible, that it isn't a problem in arcpad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Faith

I will try that! unfortunately, I cannot post the files. They are proprietary, and highly confidential. But they were manually digitized from a descriptive document. The projection could have been defined incorrectly. I don't know the skill level of the person who made it, other than they have done some very odd things.

Thank you for the refresher on transformations and projections. I consider myself generally well informed, but I have been known to miss the obvious in the past. I did use transformations when I I projected the NAD 83 UTM, but on your suggestion I double checked what was used so I could report back accurately. I selected the NAD 83 to NAD 83 HARN_WA_OR, or something on those lines, but when I check the results the NAD_1927 To_NAD_1983_NADCON transformation was used instead. I tried it again, and the same result. I really have no idea what is going on there or why.. or how... On your suggestion, I projected the 27 data from the NAD 27 UTM set to SPS with your recommended transformation. The points are still not where they need to be. The 27 data did move with the projection. but not to the correct spot. If you have any other thoughts, I am all ears.

I have 2 shapefiles from a few years ago that I did not author. One is in NAD27 UTM 10, the other is in NAD83 UTM 10. . There was a map request that includes this data. We have a standard practice of using NAD83 HARN SPS. The Data frame and all other associated data is in SPS. When I added the layer the data was off by a few meters, and I assumed it was a projection issue. I projected the UTM data into SPS, but the points did not shift into their correct locations, they are about 35 m off according to the measure tool. What can I do to fix this? Thank you

What is the best way to manage and sort data for ArcPad. To the best of my ability, it looks as though ArcCatalog does not recognize .axf or .apm. Is there a patch or something for easier data management?

When I use the superscript function on the callout text, it converts all the text to superscript. I tried to just highlight the 3 (indicating cubed), and that did not work. I have also tried using alt-253 in the text window, and that also did not work. Is it even possible to have a single superscript character in a callout box?

I have found that the PDF is much easier to navigate and read when trying to go through the entire document. I feel like the help from the ArcPad app is great for a reminder, but I'm trying to familiarize myself with the ins and outs. I appreciate your input. that is also a very good resource
