@Robert_LeClair's solution probably works, but there's an easier way to do this from the application. On the Portal's tab, there's a Sign in using browser option. If you uncheck it, you won't be redirected to a web browser next time you sign in.

@MattWilkie1 Thanks for the response. The Package Project sharing pane does not currently support creating packages with errors. We will look into adding support for this. As a workaround for the time being, can you try using the Package Project geoprocessing tool to package your project? Please see the screenshot below:

@MattWilkie1 Thank you for submitting this idea. The Package Project geoprocessing tool has an "Include History Items" parameter. Does the "History items will be included" option meet your requirement?

@COSPNWGuy Similar to @kkefer's response, you can also set metadata in your layer properties. Does this work for you? There's a separate existing idea to support categories: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/incorporate-portal-content-categories-with-arcgis/idi-p/935744 Feel free to add your kudos to that post. We can close this idea if the other post meets your needs. Thank you!

Hi @ChristopherJStrong, Thank you for your idea. With ArcGIS Pro, you can publish service definitions using the Upload Service Definition geoprocessing tool. Does this tool meet your requirements? Thanks, Jonah

Hi Liam, If the web map only has existing web layers, they will not be republished. The info on data layers being published only applies if you add new layers in you web map since it was opened. New layers will be published as web layers when you save the web map. As a tip, you can see what layers will be included in the web map. Under the Configuration tab, layers that will be published will appear under Input Layers. Existing web layers will appear under Exiting Content. Hope this helps! Jonah

Thank you for submitting this idea. However, we will not be moving forward with this request. Adding an analyzer wouldn't be very helpful. We would still need to check if the service name exists right before publishing.

Hi @JLyon, It looks like you are viewing the web layer in Classic Map Viewer. If you click Open in Map Viewer at the top corner, does the web layer draw with the desired symbology in the newer Map Viewer? If you want to still use Classic Map Viewer, you can check the Use symbol types compatible with all clients option when configuring web feature layers. This option was added in ArcGIS Pro 3.1 and enabling it converts ArcGIS Pro symbols to web symbols that can be rendered by most older applications. Please see the following help topic for more info: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/sharing/overview/configure-web-feature-layer.htm Hope this helps, Jonah

Hi @MDB_GIS, If you open the layer properties of the layer, "TaxParcels_Lines", and view the source details, what does it say? You can do this by viewing the Source tab and expanding Parcel Fabric. I'm curious to see what your data details shows here.

Hi everyone, Thank you for the feedback on this idea. Publishing a layer from Pro, creating a view from the hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online, then using Pro to overwrite the web layer is a supported workflow that should work. Since it appears that there may be an issue with overwriting layers with views, can you elaborate on when this issue occurs? What specific steps are you taking? Providing more information will help us determine what needs to be addressed. Thank you!
