It would be nice to be able to select from the user's or a group web maps to add the data being published to that map as well. Similar to how the user can select a group to add the published data to, there could be web map selection section below that.

@Ed_ Thanks for your submission. I can think of a few technical limitations to this, but just to clarify first: Are you wanting the ability to add the current web layer you are sharing to an already shared web map item in your active portal?

If so, what's the use case for this? Is there a reason why this is better than adding layers to an existing web map using the Save web map workflow? There may also be a way to do this using Python scripts.

Hey Jonah, thank you for the quick response, so yeah like you know when you are publishing to either AGOL or Portal one of the last sections is for groups. That section contains lists of groups that you either part of or you have created them. Once you select a group(s), the published data gets added to that group(s).

Similar idea is to have a section for web maps that a user has created, and the section will contain list of web maps under their name or even a map that is in a group and they have access to as being a member of that group.

The use case is simple, by having a list of accessible web maps to add data to while publishing saves you the time to do later by going to AGOL or Portal and adding the data manually.

Speaking of Python yeah sure you and I and others can do it but the the whole idea of ArcGIS Pro is to have an interface for convenience sake, and so hence the idea 😉
