@MattCashen Are you publishing to one of the groups the error lists? I'm assuming you are a member of that group. Did you provide the name of the group exactly as it appears?

Hi Everyone, Thanks to all of you who have submitted feedback and information about this idea. We've authored a blog that guides you through creating a script tool that publishes and overwrites web layers in ModelBuilder in Pro 2.8. You can customize the script tool to meet your specific requirements. The article along with a project package containing a sample model and script tools can be found here: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-pro/mapping/publish-and-overwrite-web-layers-in-modelbuilder/ Please continue to provide any feedback you may have. This will help our team evaluate the need for other resources in future releases. Best, Jonah

Yes, you will need to federate your server to the portal in order to publish. More specifically, the server needs to be designated as a hosting server. Please see this help topic for more information: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/use/hosted-web-layers.htm Best, Jonah

Hi Andrew, You cannot publish a map service to ArcGIS Online. Publishing a map service is only supported to a stand-alone ArcGIS Server. You can also publish a map image layer (which exposes a map service) to an ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Is this something expected? (not having an option to include a map image during a feature service overwrite?) Yes, because you can only overwrite a web feature layer with another web feature layer. If so, would "Replace Web Layer" be a method workaround to maintain the original service? You can only replace web tile layers, vector tile layers, and web scene layers with some limitations. Hope this helps, Jonah

Hi Amy, When you share the web feature layer individually (not in a web map), does it fail? Can you determine if there is a particular layer in your map that is responsible for the publishing failure? Your server must be federated with you portal to publish a web feature layer. Try checking your server logs - is there information there about the failure? Thanks, Jonah

Hello, As you may have read in the Save a web map help topic, saving a web map in ArcGIS Pro updates the linked web map but does not update existing web layers in ArcGIS Online. Since it sounds like you need to regularly update your existing web layer, overwriting a web layer seems like the more appropriate workflow for you. The web layer can still exist in a web map. Best, Jonah

Hi Alexa, After the web map is shared successfully, there should be a link on the bottom of the Sharing pane. Does this open to the web map? Since this is a sharing process, you will not find the result in your geoprocessing history. Instead, look for your Sharing Jobs in the Job Status pane (Share tab > Jobs button in the Status group). You can hover over the job and access the same web map link this way. Hope it helps, Jonah

Hi Shane, This was a known issue caused by using transparency on the layer. It should be fixed in the next ArcGIS Online release. Thanks, Jonah

Hello, Unfortunately, you cannot publish an image service to ArcGIS Online. To publish an image service, your ArcGIS Pro project must contain a publisher or administrator connection to a stand-alone ArcGIS Server 10.6 or later site. See Publish an image service for more information. Best, Jonah
