Chris, You can use a rectangle text element to control the width and set the callout on the text symbol to get something close to what you're looking for. The text should wrap around to a new line within the element and have the callout sized correctly for each text string. With some tweaking you should be able to limit the width as you want. However, any Y offset will not be dynamic and will not change as the text changes. Not the solution you're looking for I know, but hopefully this helps. Tom

Scale bar accuracy depends on the spatial reference of the map, the scale of the map and where on the map you are measuring distance. It doesn't matter kind of data (raster imagery, vector features) are in the map. Here are some links for more information on scale bars. Choosing the best way to indicate map scale FAQ: Why does the scale bar measure incorrectly when the ArcMap Data Frame is in a Geographic Coordinate System? Scale bar inaccurate on a projected geo-referenced map image, why? Tom

Chris, A better solution may be to set a "Background" callout for the Text symbol. Here, you can set a background, border and margin as you see fit. This would replace setting a border and background for the element itself. Make sure that the the anchor point of the text element is set so that as the text size changes the element anchored correctly. You may have to experiment a bit here to see what works best for your layout. Hope this helps. Tom

In the meantime, you can use Offset X and Offset Y to position text within the rectangle. Unfortunately, you'll need to make adjustments for each text element based on size of rectangle and text string.

Gauthier, Here's some information that I got from one of our 3D experts. Scale is continuous and changing across a 3D view, so the traditional idea of scale bars don’t work in scenes - things that are far away are at a different scale than things that are closer. Technically something could be done in Parallel (aka “isometric”) view mode, but we don’t have the math / conversion-factor for that available. For an in-scene solution (ie: creating an object that displays in the scene itself), he could use the Cage symbol. This builds a 3D grid around an object, where the number, gap, and heights of the grid lines can be configured (as needed). Steps: Add a 2D polygon feature around the model (best practice – rectangular shape with well-defined side lengths, like “100m”) Drag that layer into the 3D category in the TOC Click symbol in TOC to open Symbology pane, search All Styles for “cage”, choose the “Parcel Cage” symbol Configure the symbol - height of cage, number of grid lines, display of numbers, colors, etc Bonus points: use attribute-driven symbol properties to make different cage symbols per feature Tom

Hi Gauthier, What is it that you want to scale bar to measure? If it is not a map, as Dan suspects above, I don't think you can use a scale bar element as it is designed to work with a map. You can convert a scale bar to a set of graphic elements and change these elements as you see fit. Hope this helps. Tom

Hi Oliver, This is by design. Both map frames point to the same map, so any changes made to that map, such as turning layers on/off, changing layer rendering or changing the spatial reference of the map, will be reflecting in ALL map frames pointing to this map. For more information please see Add and modify map frames—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop. If you wish to have the map frames display different information you will need to create separate maps. You can do this by copying and pasting the original map in the Catalog pane. Once you have a copy you can adjust layer visibility as needed and point one of the map frames to this new map. There is an existing enhancement request that you might find interesting - Locked Multiple Layouts in ArcGIS Pro. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Dan, I believe this is a known bug captured in BUG-000116327 In Legend Properties, the 'Only show features visible in the map extent' option fails to function when a feature class is symbolized using unique values in more than one field. This bug also affects other renderers, such as graduated color, that use expressions (see BUG-000118169 When symbolizing the layer with an ‘ARCADE EXPRESSION’ in graduated colors, the legend in the layout does not show correct number of features present in each category in ArcGIS Pro.) Hopefully, we can address this issue in the near future. Thanks for the feedback. Tom

Hi Tim, The ArcGIS Pro scale bar is more restrictive than the ArcMap scale bar in keeping all the scale bar parts (bar, numbers, labels) within the bounding box of the scale bar element. Therefore, when the resize behavior is changed the ArcGIS Pro scale bar does everything it can to keep within the boundary that you drew for the scale bar and provide round numbers for divisions and subdivisions. Because of rounding issues there is likely to be some manual adjustment in resizing the scale bar element to get what you want. I was able to replicate what you want by increasing the width of the scale bar element dragging the right middle handle of the selection box. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Emilie, Currently only show features visible in the map extent is only supported for 2D maps. Unfortunately, I'm unaware of any workarounds. This is something we hope to support in the future. Tom

Shannon, North arrows are graphic elements. Only their orientation as a whole adjusts direction. Individual items, such as the letters designating each cardinal direction, cannot adjust independently. The North Arrow is behaving as expected. Having the cardinal directions also oriented to the top of the page, regardless of map rotation, is an interesting idea. I would recommend adding this to the https://community.esri.com/community/arcgis-ideas site as a possible future enhancement. Thanks for the feedback. Tom

Hi Shannon, If North points to the right side of the page I would expect West to point to the top of the page and East to point to the bottom of the page. I'm not quite sure what you mean by W & E being 90 degrees off. Could you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? Thanks, Tom
