Christi, I'm unaware of any bug specific to this issue that was actually submitted to Technical support. Without actual steps/data to reproduce the issue there is very little we can do. As stated above, technical support is better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data than this forum. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom

Hi Curtis, Sorry that you are running into issues. I'm a bit confused on your workflow and are hoping you can help me out. When you say "When I'm doing anything in the layout... all windows either go away or go blank." --- This is a very serious issue. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. In your follow up comment you state that you are editing the map. I'm assuming that you are activating the map frame on the layout page to do this. The ribbon changes by design since it is context based and when you activate a map frame it is like activating a map view. For example, below is a screenshot of a project with a map "North America Map" and a layout "N. A. Layout". The layout has a Map Frame along with the a text element and scale bar. The layout view is active. Therefore, the Contents pane (left) and the Ribbon (top) show items and tools pertinent to the layout. For example, in the Contents pane you see the Scale Bar item and in the Ribbon you have access to insert map surround item such as North Arrows and Legends. Once I activate the map view the Contents pane and Ribbon change. The items displayed in the Contents pane and the tools available on the Ribbon now pertain to the map. Notice that the Contents pane no longer lists the scale bar item. Why? Because you are now working with the map and not the layout. The tools available from the Insert tab are now tools that you can use with a map and not the ones you can use with a layout. For example, you can use Locate within the context of a map (active Map View, or an active Map Frame). Locate does not work in the layout context. Compare the Inset tab between the 2 screenshots above to see the difference. Also note that the right-click menus are also context driven. Here it is for the active layout. I right-clicked on top of the Map Frame. Here is is when the Map Frame is active. There are 4 places that you can deactivate the Map Frame. I've circled them in the screenshot below. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi anewsam Newsam, Currently, there is no way to remove this from JUST the legend without converting the legend to graphics. This souinds like a good enhancement. There are a couple of ideas on https://community.esri.com/community/arcgis-ideas that are similar - Cleaner "All Other Values" in legends. and Legends in Pro All Other Values. You may want to add your comments and vote. Thanks, Tom

Hi Ingrid, Your assumption is correct. The angle should be auto-calculated for magnetic north arrow elements. Unfortunately, you have run into a bug. I've confirmed that this is working correctly with version 2.5, which should be available in the next few months. Tom

Brian, Thanks for the screenshots. I see that your legend has the fitting strategy "Adjust columns and font size" and word wrapping for labels checked on. When legend items are added/removed with these properties enabled it is likely that the font size will change as the legend tries ton fit all the items within the legend extent (box) initially created when the legend was inserted on the page. I suspect that this is the reason you are seeing a slight change. Try changing the fitting strategy to one where the font size is constant (ex: Adjust columns). Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Brian, I'm unaware of any "extra white space" problem with dynamic legends. Could you provide a screenshot of what your seeing? It would also be useful to know the properties of your legend. Thanks, Tom

Hi Andrew, Currently, there are no options in the UI that "hides" the table frame when the current map series page map extent does not include any features applicable to the table. This is something we would like to do in the future. Thanks, Tom

Hi Matthew, Unfortunately there is no out-of-the-box functionality that provides individual page edits to a Map Series. I noticed that you created an Idea for this - https://community.esri.com/ideas/17636. We will monitor this suggestion for consideration in a future release. Thanks for entering it! In the meantime, I think you might be able to use python (ArcPy.mp) to help automate your workflow. Here is a link to the Map Series/ArcPy help topic MapSeries—ArcPy | ArcGIS Desktop. Here is a link to the ArcGIS,com Python Map Automation group where you can find some samples http://www.arcgis.com/home/group.html?id=398a345905c845e38229c15f5353d4e9#overview. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Dave, Thanks for the info. One more questions. The Oracle-based layer that is Not displaying the labels in the Map Frame (layout view) - - is it projected on the fly? If it is do the labels draw when you set the map to use the same coordinate system as the layer? Thanks, Tom In case youi do not know how to change to Coordinate System: Specify a coordinate system—Properties of maps | ArcGIS Desktop

Dave, When I used "flavor" I meant the type/version of the database/SDE. There are a number of configurations and this issue seems to be particular to Oracle and possibly pre-10.8 versions of SDE. We are still gathering information. Have you logged an issue with Technical support? Tom

Hi Data Officer, This is not a known issue and in my testing of 2.4.2 I have not been able to reproduce the problem described. The tick and label components offset as expected. There may be something specific with your workflow. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom

Hi Adam, I'm assuming that you are resizing a Chart Frame (Chart frames—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop) on a Layout. I have not run across a chart/scenario where there is as much extra empty space as in your screenshot. The Chart Frame is designed to replicate as best as possible what is shown in the Chart window or view (Make a chart—Charts | ArcGIS Desktop). When you customize the look of the chart (Change chart appearance—Charts | ArcGIS Desktop) both the Chart window/view and the Chart Frame in the layout should display these changes. Does the Chart window/view also show the extra, empty spaces? Thanks, Tom
