Hi Matthew, Looks like Animation is part of your workflow. Perhaps the "Lock View Size" button (Animation tab on the ribbon under the Export group) is enabled? Hope this helps, Tom

Hi GIS Officer, Glad you found a workaround. You can still toggle the visibility of the Group Layer name for existing items. If you select ONLY the top-most item in the group you can still do this with ArcGIS Pro 2.5. It is when you select multiple legend items, or select a legend item that is not the top-most legend item in the group that you run into BUG-000128688. If you are running into an issue where you are selecting only the top-moist legend item and are unable to toggle Group Layer name - this would be a different bug and one that we have not reproduced. In all my testing selecting JUST the top-most legend item works. We understand that this workaround is cumbersome. Tom

Hi Vladimir, I appreciate the feedback your are providing, especially when English is not your native language. Thanks! I also appreciate your frustration. It is not our goal to make software difficult to use. It is my believe that many things in ArcGIS Pro are better, and more intuitive, than ArcMap. However, this cannot be said across all functionality. Feedback from people like yourself is vital to identifying issues that we never anticipated or requirements that were missed. We try to catch as much before the software goes out... however, we are not perfect and some things get missed. The BUG I referenced concerns selecting all the legend items and THEN changing Group layer name visibility. Here is what I wrote: We are aware that there is a bug when trying to toggle the Group layer name at once this by selecting and editing ALL legend items at once (see BUG-000128688). We are working to address this issue. You state: I have just a small one, with three items and don't need no search to find out which is the top most. But, still, I don't have the possibility to change status of it (as you said, this legend item controls the Group layer visibility of others), this item also has just inactive check box! Though similar to BUG-000128688, this is probably a different bug. I have yet to run into a problem with selecting the top-most legend item and successfully toggling Group layer name visibility. As shown in my response to Dan Allison above, I too was using a very simple legend with just 3 items (layers). That doesn't mean there is not a bug. Just that we haven't seen it. Perhaps the fix to BUG-000128688 also fixes other legend issues not specific to the scenario described in the bug, including yours, but it also might not. I believe you are running into a bug. However, until we have reproducible steps to see this particular bug for ourselves there is very little we can do to fix the issue. That is why we encourage users to go to support. That is why we ask for steps, screenshots, and data when possible. Tom

Hi Vladimir, Sorry to hear that you are having issue with both legends and searching the online help. Legend Group Layer Name issue Unfortunately, I cannot help you without knowing the details of your scenario. I assume that you read through my example in a thread above and have tried to toggle the visibility of a Group layer name by selecting and editing the properties of the top-most (in the legend item list) item. If this is failing then this is a bug and should be reported to support (https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support). We are aware that there is a bug when trying to toggle the Group layer name at once this by selecting and editing ALL legend items at once (see BUG-000128688). We are working to address this issue. Once you understand that the visibility of the Group layer name is controlled by the group member that is top-most in the Legend list (Contents pane) you should be able to toggle Group layer name visibility. For very large legends, I would recommend using Search in the contents pane. 1. Looking at the legend on the layout page, identify the Group layer name you want to remove. In this example I want to remove the group layer name "Fun Group". 2. "Golf Courses" is the first legend item under this group. It controls the Group layer name visibility. Since I have a lot of items I use Search to get to it quickly. Note: For best results search all, do not filter. 3. I open properties for the Golf Courses legend item and toggle the Group layer name visibility. The Group Layer name "Fun Group" no longer displays. We understand that this is not the best user experience and hope to improve this in a future release. The mismatch between apparent legend size and it's bounding box When you draw a box to insert a legend the selection bounding box represents the current potential space for the legend as defined by the box you created. Legends can be dynamic. That is, content can automatically be removed or added to a legend. For example a legend with Layer visibility and New layer checked (see below) will adjust layers are turned on/off in the map or as new layers are added to the map. As new layers become visible, or added to the map, their corresponding legend items are added to the legend. The legend will automatically grow until it reaches the limits of the bounding box you specified. When the legend has no more space for items you'll see the red dots indicating an overflow. You can then make the legend larger to fit all necessary items. Problems with help search Here are some links for Legend help that I think may help. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/layouts/add-a-legend.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/layouts/work-with-a-legend.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/layouts/work-with-legend-items.htm Tom

Hi Olivia, If the field name has an alias the Table Frame header will use that alias. For example, below I have a Table Frame that shows 2 columns. The Fields View looks like this. I've underlined the fields displayed in the Table Frame. The Table Frame should be pulling the Alias value. If you edit the text you will need to save the change before it is registered by the Table Frame. For example, I've deleted "Alias" from the text value in the Fields View for the source feature class, The Table Frame automatically updates. If you are saving the changes to the Fields tab, or if there is a pre-existing alias that the Table Frame is ignoring, I would consider this a bug and would contact Esri Support. They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Hope this helps, Tom

Hello All, We have an official bug (BUG-000128447) with reproducible steps that result in layers not clipping properly in the exported result. The key finding is if the last layer in the draw order has any transparency. For example, here I have a map where the last visible layer in the draw order has transparency. Only the "Clip Layer" (blue outlined polygons) are excluded from the clip. I export and nothing seems clipped. Note that the last visible layer is "BUG----Transparency". If this layer is moved in the draw order so that it is not the last visible layer the features are clipped in the export as expected. In the example below I've moved this layer above "Clipped Layer". In cases where you want/need the layer order unchanged you can add a non-transparent "placeholder" with no symbol and place it the bottom of the draw order. Make sure that it is tuned on. Export result. This is one scenario that we know, and more importantly, can reproduce, where clipping is not working as expected. If your scenario/draw order is not similar to that outlined above, please contact support at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Hopefully, this information can help you all move forward with your work. Tom

Dan, If you've attached a new screenshot as opposed to the 2 provided in the original post, they do not seem to be available. However, I believe your issue is that you want to turn the visibility of the Group Layer Name (students group layer) and do not know how to do this. Group layer name support is a recent addition to Pro - see https://community.esri.com/ideas/1958 Unfortunately, you have run into a known usability issue. This is a bit tricky because the legend list is flat, while the layer list in the map can be nested with group layers and groups within groups. This allows you to split group layer items within a legend. The visibility of the Group Layer Name item is controlled by the top-most member of the group that is present in the legend. For example, if I have group USA with layers City, Road and State. City is the top-most member of the group and its legend item controls the visibility of the Group layer name. Toggle visibility off. If you select either of the legend elements belonging to the group you will not be able to toggle the visibility of the Group layer name. In order to successfully toggle the visibility of the the Group layer name the top-most member layer of the group needs to be in the legend and this item needs to be listed above all the other elements of the group. If the top-most sub-layer is not the top-most legend item toggling the visibility does not work. This is a bug. If you don't want the top-most layer to appear in the legend you can toggle its visibility in the Contents pane. We are aware that this is not a good user experience and hope to improve this in a future release. Tom

Dan(s), The "grayed out" layer name property in the first screenshot provided in the initial post indicates that the property is not the same for all the selected legend items. There is nothing "locked". You can still work with the property. Please see Work with a legend item—Layouts | Documentation for more information on working with legend items. Here is an example. In this layout I have a legend with 3 items, Capital, River and States by Region. Note that the layer name is positioned to the left of the symbol for Capital and River, while the layer name States by Region is above the symbols. When I click the "Show properties..." button in the Element (Legend) pane the Element pane switches to the "[multiple items]" pane. Note that all the legend items are select in the Contents Pane (left side of the screenshot). The "gray" box next to Layer name" indicates that the layer name for all the selected elements do not share the same properties. Some could be visible, while others are not. Or, as in this case, the positioning of the text name text is not consistent for all selected items. If you toggle the check box you can turn off the visibility of the layer name for all items as seen below. If you toggle the checkbox once again you will see the layer name for all the selected items appear in the same relative position. If you wish to change properties for a single (or a sub set) of legend items select the item(s) you want to work with from the Contents pane as shown in this example. Here I turned off Layer name and rearrange the label and patch order. These property changes ONLY affect the selected legend items. If I select ALL the legend items again, after turning Capital layer name off, I see that I get the "gray box" next to layer name indicating a property "mismatch" amonth the selected items. Layer name for Capital item is off, while the layer name for the other elements is on. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi A Zendel, Tight-click the text element to open the context menu. There is a command "Add Leader" which will add the leader line. Once the the leader has been added you should get the selection handle to re-position the leader line end point. Hope this helps, Tom
