Marcel, I've done some basic testing of applying a page query to multiple layers (with differing schema) and have found that it takes about half a second to update each layer. I was able to apply a page definition query to 100+ layers. I have not been able to reproduce the issue you describe above. The issue could be data-related, database-related, or due to some other variable. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom

Hi Marcel, Is the Layout View the active view when you are working with group layer members? If so, this is a known bug. To work-around this: 1. In the Contents pane, right-click the Map Frame containing the map you want to work with 2. Choose "Open" This will open a map view of your map. 3. Make the changes you want to the sub-layers. Thanks for the feedback. Tom

Hi Marcel, I'm having difficulty understanding what you are trying to do. Are you - 1. Selecting 50 annotation layers in the Contents Pane (TOC) 2. Opening the properties for these 50 layers 3. Going to the Page Query page and trying to apply a Map Series Page Filter to all 50 layers? Thanks, Tom

Jonathon, I have not run into an issue with dynamic legends as described above. I've run some sanity tests using shapefiles and the legend was working as expected. I have no doubt that you are seeing a problem. However, there is little we can do without steps/data in which we can reproduce the problem. Are you able to to contact Esri Support? Hi Robert & Thomas, I believe Thomas is on the right track, though I do not think that it is the basemap that causes the "freeze/hang". I think the issue is with all the other layers/data in the "new" map that are trying to draw in the map frame at 1:72,000,000. Robert, how many features would you expect to draw at this extent? If you add this map to a new layout using the Default Extent (1st option in the Insert Map Frame gallery) how long does it take to draw? If the performance of adding a new map frame (of similar size) to a new layout is the same as switching the source map of an existing map frame (both scenarios using the same "original" map and the same "new" map) - then the issue is likely due that the time it takes time to zoom to the full extent and draw all the features of this particular map. I've highlighted two ways you can mitigate this below. If the performance of inserting a new map frame is different than switching the source map (again, same "original" and "new" maps and map frames of a similar size) - then the investigation needs to continue. If this is the case would you be able to contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Two ways to manage a map frame's extent when switching source maps. Since, by design, the map frame uses the map's Default Extent when switching the source map you can manage this extent by setting a default extent for the map. For more info on this see - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/mapping/properties/set-a-custom-full-extent.htm. My guess is the your "new" map's Default extent has a scale of 1:72,000,000. If it takes time to draw this map (in a map view of in a map frame) at this scale you might want to consider setting a custom extent at a much larger scale. Another way to control the extent of the map frame is to set a Fixed extent on the map frame before switching the source map. If the new source map uses the same coordinate system of the original source map this should work. However, if the source maps do NOT share the same coordinate system this will not work. The reason is that only the numbers are maintained by the map frame - spatial reference is not maintained because. Currently, ArcGIS Pro does not support the transformation of Map Frame constraint values (Fixed extent, Fixed Center, Fixed Center and scale) when switching the source map to a different coordinate system. Hopefully, this is something we can address in the future. For more info on map frame extents see - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/layouts/customizing-your-map-extent.htm. Hope this helps, Tom

Jacob, Are there any features (from the same layer that the table frame references) visible in the associated map frame? If not, this would explain why the table frame would be empty. Tom

Tim, Unlike labels, annotation will not automatically update based on map rotation. You will need to edit the angle property of each annotation accordingly. For more information see https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/annotation/annotation.htm Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Larry, I'm unaware of any known issue that would result in clipped layers not drawing in the layout (as expected), but drawing in the printed map or the exported file. There may be something specific about your map, layout rendering, export options, etc... that results in the clip being ignored. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom

You can set "MapPageName" as the Name Field for the map series and then export the pages as Multiple PDF Files (page names). Or you can use ArcPy.mp to export files with the names you specify. You can use the values or any fields in the index layer in which to contruct file names. See map series example 2 in https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/arcpy/mapping/mapseries-class.htm. Tom

Hello Quan Cui, I'm assuming that by "displays one column" you are referring to how the layer is symbolized. You will need to create 3 separate maps where each map uses a different column to symbolize the layer. You can then add each map to the layout. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Robert, You can point the map frame to the map containing the layers with the new symbology. To do this select the map frame, right-click to open the context menu and select properties. The Element pane should open. You can change the source map for the map frame here. For example, in the project below I have 2 maps: "Green" and "Blue". Currently, the map frame is pointing to map "Green". I can change the map that the map frame uses by clicking the "Map" drop-down and selecting a new map. The map frame updates to display the new map. All map surrounds (scale bars, north arrows, table frames, etc...) that reference this map frame will also update to account for the new source map. For more information please see: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/layouts/add-and-modify-map-frames.htm Hope this helps, Tom

Ben, Kory, The page unit setting under Options only applies to the default page unit for a custom page size. It should not affect the page unit of any existing pages or the page units of any pre-defined layout template (like those found in the New Layout gallery) or any layout file (.pagx). All layout pages have a single page unit. All elements will use this unit. As Kory outlined above you can change the units of the page. The size and position of all layout elements on the page should reflect this change in the UI. Hope this helps, Tom

Oscar, Sorry to hear that you are still experiencing issues with authoring a layout. I'm unaware of a scenario in which the inability to insert an element into layout continues after deleting the invalid layout. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Thanks, Tom
