Hi Sarah,  For text elements in the Layout you will first need to use a font that supports italics (ex: Arial). The drop down below the font name will display the styles the font supports. After you have selected the text element you want to work with you can set italics (or any other supported style) on a specific piece of text 2 ways. Hi Chris,  First, what version on you working with?  The issue that I referenced above your comment is from April 2019 and has as far as I know been addressed.  Work was done spring (for version 2.4) that improved the performance of renaming and reordering groups and group members and the draw performance when changing the frame decoration of grouped elements. Also, last January (for version 2.6) we made some additional performance improvements when working with groups in the TOC.  For 2.7 we've addressed a performance improvement related to the selection of layout elements. Your screenshot is a good start and it's great that you identified the "trouble-maker" and are hopefully able to work around this performance issue.  Have you tried recreating this group?  It might be possible that this particular group got corrupted somehow. I did some testing with a group of 12 text elements similar to your screenshot and experience no obvious performance issues.  Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. Hi Michelle and Adrian,  Currently, a layout has one map series and that map series is driven by feature in a layer (Spatial Map Series) or by Bookmarks (Bookmark Map Series - new at version 2.6) that is tied to one map frame on the layout as explained here - Map series—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation . If I understand the use cases described above and in the links that Adrian provides, I believe that options are currently available to achieve these goals. Michelle states -  "I'd like to be able to utilize the second map with dynamic text and the automatic map extent that is useful with the map series."  I believe the solution is setting a constraint ( available from the Map frame properties Display options tab) to set a desired extent for any secondary map frame and then using the display options for any table attributes added to the layout (available from the Dynamic Text drop down on the Insert tab of the ribbon - Layout view active. Look for "Value" under Table Attribute. A secondary map frame (pointing to the "second map") can have its extents linked to the extent of a different map frame (the "primary" map frame that has the index layer that defines the map series pages).  Below is the relevant text from the help topic Map frame constraints—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation   Map series constraints Additional constraints are also available if a layout contains a spatial map series. The Map series constraint is automatically applied to the map frame containing the index layer and cannot be removed. Other map frames in the layout can have any of the standard or linked map frame constraints applied as well as an additional constraint. As the extent of the secondary map frame changes based on the current extent of the primary map frame any dynamic elements linked to this map frame ("secondary map") will update as well provided you set the element to be dynamic. For dynamic text I've extracted the relevant text from the help topic Add and modify dynamic text—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation  Table dynamic text Table dynamic text has a slightly different insert experience. Table dynamic text returns attribute values or statistics from a specified layer or stand-alone table in a map frame. Since there can be multiple map frames, layers, and stand-alone tables on a layout, table dynamic text requires you to select the data you want. Table dynamic text can also be filtered. You can use all the data in a table or a subset. You do this by setting the Query parameter. The following are the query options: All rows—Uses every row in the table. Visible rows—Uses all the rows for data visible in the map extent. This is not an option for stand-alone tables, because they are not displayed on the map. Custom query—Uses a query created by the user using the query builder. This query builder expression is applied to all rows in the table and can't be limited to rows visible in the map extent. Map series rows—Uses only the rows that intersect the current map series index feature. This option is only available for a spatial map series and does not apply to stand-alone tables. Additional parameters can also be set for the Table Attribute and Table Statistic groups in table dynamic text. The two issues that Adrian links... Can map series page query have multiple values?  Is it possible to have multiple map series in the same layout in ArcGIS Pro?   ... are a bit more complicated, and though you cannot do either of these through the UI, I believe you can accomplish the same goals using ArcPy.mp. Hi Mary,  Layers showing up in an EXPORTED map even when turned OFF in the TOC Legend area and not showing up in the layout (the Aerial info specifically.)   First, is your Aerial layer coming from a map service?  If so you may be running into BUG-000131306 (see  Unwanted Legend Item Appears After Export ).  Layers not reacting properly to the "show features in extent" option.  When activated, the legend frame shows nothing for that layer.   I'm not aware of any known issue specific to this. Hi Ben,  This is an unfortunate side effect of the Export pane adopting the generic ArcGIS Pro dialog.  This change was needed for performance as well as consistency. Hi Carole,  I'm assuming that the "extra" legend items are coming from an ArcGIS Map Service layer.  If they are not, if the data source is local like a file geodatabase, then this is a different bug. If so, please let us know because at this time I'm only aware of this issue being particular to ArcGIS Map Service layers. To get around the bug you will need to create a new legend that does not include this layer when the legend is created. You can do this in two ways. You can create the legend first and then add the service to the map.  If the service is already in the legend you can create a legend without this layer by selecting the layers you do want in your legend and then insert the legend.   From Add a legend—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation    Optionally, if you don't want all the layers added to the legend, expand the map in the Contents pane and select the layers to add to the legend. If no layers are selected, a legend is added containing all applicable layers from the map contained in the default map frame.   Did you try either of these workarounds? If you did please let me know of the steps you took.  I may have missed something in the workaround and would really like to get you to a workaround that is not putting a white box over the extra items if possible. Hi Candice,  First, let's get on the same page for terminology. When you say "I am creating several maps in different layouts and different map frames using the same features in ArcGIS Pro". I'm assuming that you have several map frames in different layouts that point to the same map. This is what the Stack Exchange thread refers to and is not supported by ArcGIS Pro. Though map frames do control some "map properties" such as extent - it does not control many map properties such as layer visibility, or any layer properties. These are are controlled by the map. Think of the map frame much like a map view - it is a view of the map.  You can layer properties while working with a map view or a map frame, but all other views linked to this map will see these changes as well. From the help topic - Add and modify map frames—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation  Note: While the map extent of each map frame is independent of other map frames, the contents of a map frame's map are not. A map frame is just like having another map view open. For example, if you select some features on a map, those features are selected in all open views of that map—including in map frames. Likewise, if you turn off a layer in one view, it turns off in all views. Layer properties cannot be set per view. Until we engineer a way to either version maps or "freeze" map frames with a given state of a map (similar to ArcView) you will need to manage your map states by either toggling the layer visibility as needed or by created a new map for each map state that you want in different layouts.
