You would add a field to the edge object class and store a value of the length. If you want the system to calculate the length, just use a line.

This value is just a flag set on the row so that the batch validation process knows to validate it. You have to manually trigger the batch process. You can use the Error Inspector window in ArcGIS Pro or the Evaluate Rules GP tool.

I do not think you can set that column to 0. When a row is inserted, it will require calculation and validation. To set that bit, you can use the the calculationRequired/validationRequired keyword. Once they are created, you cannot change them. You could create new fields and disable/enable editor tracking on those. If you export to Asset Package, and re-create your UN, it does uses the editor tracking fields you have defined in your source if you have them.

I have not seen an impact. There is a new snap chip with 3.3 that presents/sets terminals that might make this rule irrelevant. I would take a look at that before implementing this rule.
