A WAB developer app accessing a web map with feature layer shared with a group produces a sign-in dialog showing information that is non-sensical and confusing for end users that are not trained GIS professionals or ArcGIS organization admins. That can be mitigated somewhat via CSS. However the sign-in dialog is also missing typical links for forgotten username or PWD. Does anyone have an approach for adding those typical link buttons back in? Commonly they would be at the bottom of the login dialog underneath the OK and Cancel buttons. Thanks! John

I am also searching for how to do this. The default appearance is ok for a software developer or GIS professional who is also an ArcGIS organization administrator. But confusing for a normal human user of a simple web mapping app who might not know what an "item" is, what the 32 char hex code is supposed to mean, or even who "ArcGIS Online" is (as apposed to the named AGOL organization they are working in). The portal name and item id can be turned off via CSS: .resLink { visibility: hidden; !important; } .serverLink { visibility: hidden; !important; } … but that still leaves the confusing text "Please sign on to access the item on". For an ArcGIS JavaScript API app that text can be changed with: esri.bundle.identity.info = "Text Here. ${server} ${resource}"; // ${server} ${resource}" hidden via CSS … but I have not worked out yet where to put that in any of the WAB app js files. Using the ArcGIS REST API via the ArcGIS REST JS wrappers, I can see how to get a list of all users in a group via the group userList operation which only returns username, fullname, membertype, thumbnail, and joined. I can see how to get additional properties like email, description (bio), and tags via the username operation, but this can only return one single. I can't work out how to combine the two, and am looking for a code sample to get a list of users in a group, and then iterate though the list to additional get the remaining user properties. Any pointers would be most appreciated!

Hi Zhifang - My use case is to restrict the logged in user to only access the record submitted by themselves in their previous survey submission.

How secure is the external CSV file in the media folder? I would like to use pulldata() to pre-populate answers in a private survey from a CSV made from previous community survey events. For example, a user navigates their browser to the web form survey URL. They are prompted to log in with their ArcGIS named user credentials. The survey form then loads in the browser and uses property("username") to find correct row in the CSV to use for prepopulating answers. However it is very important that the entire CSV showing all users' previous survey results is not available to an individual survey user in any way.

Found a solution from Esri support: keep maxrecordcount at 2000 but change maxrecordcount factor in the update definition dialog to 3.5 (after backing up data as you should be careful when making changes to service definition). This worked for me!

Struggling to get ArcGIS Online WAB attribute table widget "export all to CSV" feature to export more than 2000 records. I noticed my hosted feature layer has a max record count of 2000,so I have changed that to 7000 using the instructions here https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/00001238 to update maxrecordcount in the layer definition. However this change seems to break the ArcGIS Online WAB attribute table widget. Before the change I could zoom to extent of map and see 6000 features in the table nearly instantly. After the change, the table grinds and grinds and never populates. Any ideas how to get the ArcGIS Online WAB attribute table widget to export more than 2000 records?

That is very helpful, but think it would not work well for pre-populating a very long survey. Also there could be security concerns over sending out a URL with confidential values included in the URL. Is source code for the web survey form available?

Hi James - In my case each user will be sent a URL to access their survey. It would be possible to provide a unique URL for each user. I am interested to hear about ways to create a hyperlink that would open and fill in previously entered data. Thanks! JB

Is it possible to pre-populate survey responses for an individual based on responses from the last time the person took the survey? For example they take the survey one year, and then take the same survey the next year. For a lenghtly survey it would be useful to pre-populate an indivudual's survey with their individual responses from last year. Similarly for a really long survey, is it possible to allow the individual to partially compelte a survey, and then come back another day to complete it, in case they have to research some answers? In my scenario I am authoring the survey using XLSForms, and my users take the survey in the 3.0 web app. Thanks! JB

Those are nice tools, but not reports. Reports are like 8.5 x 11 PDF pages you can print out that shows charts, graphs, tables, maps, populated into a pre-configured template. The dashboard template for WAB is terrific, especially with all of the new charts and infographic types. Now what it needs is not any more chart types, but rather a WAB widget enabling printed reports from a WAB Dashboard. Somewhat confusing is that there is a WAB dashboard template, not to be confused with the new Operations Dashboard which looks extremely similar but seems not as customizable.

That helped a lot but there are some places in my textured mesh where its still trying to create mesh from sky. Are my images too oblique? Would a best practice be to ensure that oblique images do not include any sky? Also from my drone survey I have about 100 image that are very orthogonal in nature (no sky) and about 80 that are very oblique in nature (include sky). The 2 sets are from different altitudes. Can I process these images all together, or should I not mix like that? Should I instead attempt to maintain a basically constant altitude for the survey?
