Hello, I am trying to add google's photorealistic 3d tiles to Scene, using ArcGIS Pro 3.30.
Photorealistic 3D Tiles | Google Maps Tile API | Google for Developers
This is the javascript api call -
https://tile.googleapis.com/v1/3dtiles/root.json?key=[YOUR API KEY]
I would like to add the tiles then publish a hosted scene layer. Is this tileset supported?
Got it, thanks for checking into that Andrew!!

Hi @Andrew--Johnson ,
I wanted to ask if you could include a link to instructions on how to add Google photorealistic 3d tiles to an ArcGIS Pro 3.5 Scene. @johnbrosowsky states below he can view in just fine in Pro. I'm not able to find anything that meaningfully describes how to do this. ChatGPT gave instructions that I think are probably outdated. I've enabled the setting in ArcGIS Online and ironically, 2 sessions have already been used but I've yet to figure this out. . . .
I assumed the process in a APro 3.5 Scene would be Add Data > Portal > ArcGIS Online> Search for "Google photorealistic 3d tiles" but that returns nothing.
Any guidance you or anyone can offer is appreciated (before all my sessions get used up LOL).
Hi,
Unfortunately, this is not possible in ArcGIS Pro 3.5 as it's a new feature we added in ArcGIS Pro 3.6.
The only way to access the Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles (in 3.5) is to add it as an operational layer but that is only if you have a Google Maps API URL/Key from Google which I describe below in this blog.
regards,
Andrew
Ahh! Thank you for this: "only if you have a Google Maps API URL/Key from Google"
Hey @Andrew--Johnson just came across your blog post where you mentioned "Take advantage of exploratory 3D analysis tools like line of sight or viewshed, and make temporary modifications by clipping or replacing parts of the mesh". Is this modifications functionality (clipping, masking,...) only available via ArcGIS Pro, or also via a Web Scene when part of a custom JS API app? Just a bit confused why that's only doable via Pro. Thanks!
Hi,
Different clients have different priorities and release dates so it's not guaranteed that functionality that exists in ArcGIS Pro is going to be present in the Scene Viewer. I would add an ArcGIS Idea or post in the ArcGIS Online community so you can get better updates from the Scene Viewer team on that functionality.
thanks,
Andrew
Basemaps—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation are now supported in ArcGIS Pro 3.6.
@AndrewS is there a footprint layer for the ~2500 cities that have advanced 3D models?
