For the additional functionality you need to turn on the WFS service as well, then you should be able to perform the other functions.

The map service needs to be recreated as a feature service in order to be used in the geoprocess. This allows the service to be query able.

I believe the issue with the administrator not working is that this account needs to be a site administrator for the database and it needs dbo rights, because it is trying to make a direct connect to the database with operating system authentication. Thank you.

Hey Rickey could you keep the field length at a shortened name, and then add the long name as an alias? I do not know if this would have an effect on the performance as well. In earlier versions of geodatabases we were limited to the number of charters in field names, and this was a way to get around that limitation. I am not sure if the database would look at the alias differently from the actual name. Thank you.

With the way our state is serving GIS data through our GEOHUB, we can load the metadata to the site in either FGDC or ISO formats. I have been having a problem exporting the metadata for the map services that we needed to upload. I have found where the metadata is stored on the server for the map service. The best part of this is if you set the metadata to the FGDC standard then this is the stored version in the metadata location on the server. the user can give their system administrator the following path (with key items changed to your server), and then copy the xml to a location of your choosing. The user can then change the name to a name that makes sense to them. Here is the path: C:\arcgisserver\config-store\services\<Service_Name>.MapServer\esriinfo\metadata\metadata.xml The cool thing is there is no need to export, at this point because this file is in the format that you choose all ready. I hope this helps people who may be new to setting up metadata for a map service.

Thank you, I have been looking into the new Web appbuilder and the API, and was not sure if that was the best route or not. Great info. I will be checking out the blog, thank you.

Based on Esri's posting about not supporting the Flex and Windows Silverlight api's beyond the current version, I am in the process of converting our current Flex Viewer applications to JavaScript, I will be taking JavaScript training, but I am wondering how easy it will be to convert my current applications with their functionality to JavaScript? Thank you for your comments and ideas in advance. Here are the links to a couple of our more widely used app's to let you know what I have. I had this issue creating the mosaic datasets in SDE 10.2.2, the issue was that when creating the dataset, SDE defaulted to choosing the Server drive letter, I repaired the data link in the modify tab when right clicking on the dataset, this worked, but when I looked at the dataset on the server on any other computer other than my own, the checkerboard was there. To fix the issue I set the new path in the repair link dialogue to the server name and the drive name, here is how it looked for our server: \\<server name>\<gis_data>(this is the name of the drive that the rasters reside on, NOT the drive letter)\raster\drg\100k\utm12 or utm13 After using this as the connection path everything worked, because the dataset seemed to be defaulting to see my drives rather than the drives that the dataset were created from, now with the full name it is the same for all of our users. I hope that this helps others.

Thank you for the post, one last item that I thought of, when you work with your data through a model you miss a warning that you would receive if you you tried to add the data to ArcMap as WY data. If you were to add the table as XY data you would receive the following warning: The table you specified does not have an Object-ID field so you will not be able to select, query, or edit the features in the resulting layer, or define relates for them. After you create this layer, you can export it to a shapefile or feature class if you need these functions. To export a layer, right-click it in the Table of Contents and choose Data>Export Data. Add the exported data to the map as a new layer. What this is saying is you are loading a table of points and I cannot find the associated objects, because the table stands alone. So, it says we will let you do this, but as a result you are unable to select, query, or edit because currently there is no underlying objects with the data. Once you perform the export the needed attributes and objects will be created to allow you to perform these functions. I hope this helps.

That is right; so, you could change your model to access the actual feature class or shapefile that the table is associated with, then you have the actual geometry and you will not have to convert the table to a shapefile, feature class, or layer. Then your model should work because you are using the actual layer that contains the geometry.

I am sorry I used that as an example to clarify my thoughts, you are right that is not what you are doing, sorry for the confusion. That is correct, the select by location tool needs an actual shapefile or geodatabase feature class to work.
