I know that in 10.5 I can, in the data view, using the Drawing toolbar, Label tool options, place a label at a position clicked, to label a Interstate Line Layer with a Interstate Badge. How can I do this in ArcPro? or even can I do this in ArcPro? Thanks.

In ArcMAP10.4.1, while creating a large e size map of the Twin Cities with all roads being labeled, I can lock them. This allows for zooming while in the layout view without the Labels recalculating their positions, I can then see what the sizes and positions will look like at 1:1 scale. Is this possible in ArcPRO1.4? I don’t see the option to Lock Labels after they’ve drawn. Thanks

Short version, I agree, keep at it, it will come eventually, I dont like generally how it works but after using it for a 1/2 year I now use it for 1/4 of my projects. I do not make maps with it, Arcmap IMO is light years easier to work with layouts and views, legend etc.

I’m wondering if there's a option to add recent locations to the Directory tree when using the Add Data Tab of loading Data into a map. It appears it always defaults to the home directory, which forces me to browse back thru my Hard Drives Directories to get back to the dir that I’m loading my data from. I do realize using the project\locations pane will accomplish this. Thanks Brian

Thanks Adrian right clicking on the layer in the contents pane worked just as I needed (insert Face Palm here) the strange Licensing message appears but the process completes, I thought it wasn't working due to the message, we only have a Basic licence. I'm sloshing ahead slowly learn to do in Pro what I do in 10x. I wish sometimes the processes would just proceed, and not run a "Geoprocessing Tool" in another pane, but it is what it is. Thanks for the Help

Thanks Dan, I sometimes get frustrated jumping back and forth between pro & 10x as you can probably tell. I did find and have used both those tools, and as Adrian below said right clicking on the layer in the contents pane worked just as I needed (insert Face Palm here) the strange Licensing message appears but the process completes, we only have a Basic licence here but it seems to work anyway's. I wonder if its an version 1.3 bug? anywise thanks again.

I have a simple multi feature shapefile, I would like to write out to a new shapefile one of the features. I would think I would select the featue in the attribute table, then use the "Copy feature" tool to write it out to a new shapefile called c:\work\temp1.shp. i am now getting a " WARNING 001102: You must have at least the ArcEditor License to run this tool with the specified data." message? I guess once again I need to go back to Arc10x to do a simple process? or not? any Help appreciated. Brian

Thanks Dan I saw that, but assumed based on the Title, it was taking a multi part and creating a single part, which on thinking thru a bit on my part would be simpler if just using merge. Optimally I would like to explode while editing like the explode tool in advanced editing in Arc10.3 but this will work, I just don’t need it to write out to a new feature layer, I need it to be a temp explode while editing features in Pro, I’m re-merging quickly a few edits later... Thanks for the quick tips Brian

Dan Thanks for the help, I now found that but I was hoping for a quick and easy similar to how 10.3 catalog style of creation for both folders and Shapefiles. it appears I have to go through tools and such to accomplish simple tasks which up to this point why I keep going back to 10.3. I will continue to check back with acrGISPro to see if any tasks become simpler besides universal editing. I thank you for your quick info on my questions. Brian

Dan Ok, now I'm confused(more), the Tab you showed Insert, add folder, still doesnt allow for creating of a "new" Folder, it just asks to connect to a folder. I would like to just create a new folder on my Hard Drive. And on the edit, create tab, I want to create a new shapefile in a directory (hopefully the one I just created above) for further editing and analysis, not add features to an existing shapefile. I really appreciate your help on these questions Thanks Brian

Thanks Dan, I knew I had to be looking right at it! In addition, can I also create a new shapefile without running the create feature tool? I do like the arc catalog version of right click, new, shapefile option and I haven’t seen the same in Pro? Thanks Brian
