we have 10.3.1 our field guys are using collector for hydrant flushing program. they are editing directly to our sde default versioned database. for some reason when i do our nightly compression of the database their edits are not showing up in the base tables. they are staying in the delta tables. this problem seems to have just started. it was working last week. any ideas what might be causing this?

I was wondering if I should be checking the box next to "Include system tables" in the rebuild indexes and analyze dataset tools, after i compress our main editing sde default versioned database. I read the documents on system tables, and the version db admin workflow still not clear on what exactly is the "state" and "state_Lineage" tables. i just want to make sure that if I check the box next to "include system tables" when i do my DB admin task that I am not going to totally mess our tables, data, etc up

So we are about to migrate from 10.3.1 to 10.5 I would like to move our license manager to a different server. In anticipation of this I was wondering if it is possible to install licence manager 10.5 on the server we ultimately want to move to, while the existing 10.3.1 licenses manager is still running on the current server. That way when we are ready to do the full migration it is there ready to go and I can authorize all the 10.5 licenses on it. Is it even possible to also pre-authorize the 10.5 licenses with the newly installed 10.5 license manger before we upgrade all our products to 10.5?

We are using collector to track our leak detection efforts. One question that came up was, do they have the ability to select multiple lines for batch editing. For example, our water lines end and then begin again at each valve, appurtenance, etc. Resulting in polylines. When they leak inspect a large waterline run, they want to be able to not have to click on each line segment individually. I just read about the "continuous" setting but whne I tested it out I was not given the options that the blog talked about.

Bertrand Thanks for the link. But my work around was to create a two-way replica with the child being "simple" and the parent our default having geometric network. So when I sync to the field collection sde child replica it strips out the G.N. and we can use it in collector. then when we check back in to our default it recreates the GN just have to snap to the appropriate water or sewer lines, until ESRI eventually, (some day i hope), gets around to allowing snapping in collector. Until then collector is very limited in field collection of valves, hydrants, manholes, and other utilities that need snapped to lines in my opinion anyways.

Is there a way to have field guys edit only the attributes of features using collector? The issue we are having is that our guys are using collector to track places they have been for leak detection. So, all we need to have them do is select the waterline, valve, etc and change attribute to yes, no, maybe, is leak urgent, etc. which is turn will change the color of the feature. However, in collector it is easy to accidentally move the valve or line. is it possible to lock down their editing rights, or whatever to be able to only edit attributes and not be able to move the geometry of the features. Thanks.

I just read the Q/A thread about Collector. This was from Feb. of 2015. I am particularly interested in the progress esri has made towards the ability to snap in collector, since the release of that thread two years ago. I ask, because this will be a big step forward for us, using collector as our main field collection method.

We are running 10.3.1 and I created a geometric network for our sewer layers. As part of our sewer camera truck software, I had to include our laterals. the problem we are running into now, is that when we snap our laterals to our sewer mains, the sewer mains, get split. and the camera truck does not like that. we need our sewer mains to remain one single run from manhole to manhole. what tool do I use that would allow me to snap our laterals to our mains without causing them to split
