Derek Thanks for the heads up. I have been reading all the documentation on portal v. AGO and trying to decide if I should spend the time and resources setting up a portal (just for a few applications that look cool) when we already have a AGO organizational account. Is this something you see happening to other applications where they will eventually will work with AGO, and not just Portal? Off the top of your head, do you have a guess how long it will be before insights works with AGO? Thanks again Derek.

So do I really need to install portal to be able to use insights. Even though we already have an organizational account for AGO.

I should add that it seems only to be happening when in collector. when I edit thorough AGO and a browser the descriptions display how they should

I was wondering if anybody knew why after upgrading to 10.5.1 our web maps that we use in collector are displaying the domain coded value when they are editing instead of the domain description. any advice how to get it back to showing the description.

Yea, we are not doing versioning. field edits are made to the child default gdb, then synced to our parent default. We are a smaller company, so it's not like we have 10-20 different people editing or collecting field data on a regular basis. Our GIS department consists of two people. So, data QA/QC not hard for us to maintain by doing it this way. Hope this helps.

Cort yes. it is working OK for us. Just have to make sure that when you sync back to your db with the geometric network, that you adjust the line and other features that are on that particular line segment. (i.e. appurtenances, etc) that become skewed when the valve, hyd, manhole, etc, get moved to their new location.

I think you have to log-in into your AGO account in ArcMap under file. then you will get more basemap options

Katie I am not searching for the basemap from Add data button. i am simply selecting the add base map option and then selecting the navigation basemap from the choices. Topography basemap loads fine, as well as the light gray canvas. it seems just the navigation and world streets one don't want to load. We are still at 10.3.1 if that matters

is anybody else having the issue with the navigation basemap not loading into arcmap. i am trying to load it from the add data button inside arcmap and it won't load. nothing shows up. Just wondering if anybody else experienced this

Good morning. We are in the process of moving from 2008 sql server to 2016 sql server. I am moving the databases via detach-Attach method. During the attachment part I got a few of these warnings: Warning: The check constraint "g21_ck" on "dbo"."g21_ck" was disabled and set as not trusted because the implementation of "geometry" have changed. Warning: The check constraint "A_g20_ck" on "dbo"."A_g20_ck" was disabled and set as not trusted because the implementation of "geometry" have changed. Warning: The check constraint "A_g30_ck" on "dbo"."A_g30_ck" was disabled and set as not trusted because the implementation of "geometry" have changed. It said that my sql query executed successfully and I was able to connect to the databases in ArcCatalog and republish all of my map services and tested them and everything seems to work fine. I was just wondering if anybody else has got these warnings and if they are something that I should be concerned about, or not worry about them since everything seems to be working fine.

So, we are about to upgrade from 10.3.1 to 10.5. But I am a little confused about how to go about it. Currently we have all our databases on sql server 2008 R2. Part of our upgrade is to move our databases to our new sql server 2016. We have about 35 desktop users accessing our data thru ArcReader. and another 30 or so laptops that use ArcReader as well. Our GIS team consists of about 5 full time ArcMap users who have direct contact with the databases. we also have Server running as well. We have several web applications that are being used either by field crews or sit on our website. I have already installed 10.5 license manager on a new server, but have not authorized or deauthorized anything yet. Why i am confused is because 10.5 doesn't work with server 2008 R2 so i need to get the databases on the new server first before i install 10.5 server or desktop, right? So would it make sense to detach then Re-Attach our databases to our new server first, before I do anything else? Or can i go ahead and get server upgraded and authorized on our new license manager, then move databases, then work on ArcMap and ArcReader updates? I guess I am confused about what is, and what isn't forward/backward compatible with each other and databases. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

George So i figured out that i had to stop the map services that are hitting our default database. Just disconnecting them using the admin window in catalog was not enough.

George Thanks for the reply. We don't have any versions created from our default. So not sure what would need to be reconciled and posted. We do have multiple one way replications that are childs of our default. would that cause it to behave like this?
