Mike Thanks for that info. I was not aware of that. So If I was to look into this do I have to download the pre-configured one for LGIM and then tweak it to our schema. Or is there one I can download that is not already pre-configured specifically for LGIM

Patricia No I am not. As we are not using the LGIM (If I am understanding correctly what the Attribute assistant Tools are) . Also How our asset management system works is that it is mapped to a specific GIS database and then each field in our GIS layers are mapped to a specific field in the Lucity database. So trying to remap everything to new fields and databases would be sort of a lengthy process. It's not that big of a deal I just thought if I could save a couple of steps in the mind numbing task of digitizing and attributing that would be great. Thanks for your help.

Is it possible to write in a formula like you would with field calculator. for example we have fields in our layers that require the OID number so that the new "asset" we create in our GIS will be populated in our asset management program. So an example of this would be for our water lines the field that is mapped to our asset manager is the "WM" field. In order for that asset to be put into our asset manager the field must be populated like so "WM_12345" (12345 being the OID of the feature just created) Is there a way in the templates to add the expression "WM_"& [OID] so that when I digitize a new feature that field gets populated "WM_12345"

Kelly Just as a side note. Apparently I am doing something wrong when I either publish the basemap or add it to AGO as a basemap and use that as my default because I tried another App. (Map tools) and I am experiencing the same results. So not sure what I am doing to cause the online basemaps and my basemap not to play nice with each other.

Kelly here is the url to a test basic viewer application that I made for you to look at. I re-projected our streets basemap to web mercator like you suggested and still getting real poor performance. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with my other layers. But as you will see this one has just our basemap and it is still not working properly. http://nwwsd.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Viewer/index.html?appid=031ee7d8c5c9479ea1cf11249d5b5943 Thanks for your help with this.

Kelly So I created a new basemap with web mercator (auxiliary sphere) I am still having issues with performance. real slow to switch basemaps and aerials disappearing. My question is it because my other services in the application are not web mercator? Do i need to republish all services to web mercator?

Very good Kelly. I appreciate your time and help with this. Is there anything I can do in the mean time to get around this. Would it be possible to re-project my streets basemap to match online base maps? again, Thanks for your help on this. This explains the weird behavior in a lot of my apps then.

Kelly So. Here is what I got going on. I created a base map group and made this my default base maps and checked "share esri default basemaps with this group" The only map I customized was a simple streets map of our county. I did this because the default esri basemaps LOD did not zoom in enough for our field guys to view multiple valves in an intersection. So by created this basemap of just our county streets and had that has the default I was able to zoom in as close as I wanted to. And since the web maps take the LOD of the default basemap I was able to switch to esri aerial basemap and still be able to zoom in real close when viewing application in Explorer for ArcGIS. Now that I am using the Basic viewer app and viewing it from Chrome it is really buggy as in disappearing when zoomed in takes for ever to switch from our default basemap to imagery or any basemap for that matter. The reason I took explorer out of the equation is one less sign in and app to have to navigate for our field guys. Unfortunately the app is not made public. However I created a test app for you to look at. It is just our basemap layers. This should give you an idea how buggy it is acting. Thanks for your help. http://nwwsd.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Viewer/index.html?appid=351eb8599b6b4f2e945a18121c196324

Is there a reason why when I switch between basemaps using the basic viewer app that it is very very sluggish. And then when I zoom in with the aerial basemap it disappears. Is this a known issue? Is anybody else experiencing this? This makes the app very frustrating for our field guys to use. Is there anything i can try to improve this.

Tom Thanks. The only reason i am doing this is cause I want to test out the LGIM and in order to import my data into the models schema I need to make sure that data types match for corresponding fields and the model has their year installed field as date. But maybe I will just make everything janurary like you suggested. Thanks

Tom Thanks for the help. We never kept day and month we were just concerned with the year. Is there anyway around that or do I have to just create a generic day and month for all the features

I am trying to calculate our values from one field called Yr_Install which is a short integer. to a new field called Year_Install which I created and made it a Date data type. When I try to field calculate the values from the short integer field which has the values 1968, 1914, 2014,2012 etc into the new year installed field all it does is populate the field with some random date and 1905 for all values.( i.e 6/8/1905) what is the vb or python script to move the data over to the new field

Jake That still didn't work. My measure tool still pop-ups first regardless what I set the active tool at. Bug? But my new question is: Is there a LOD limit with the basemaps with this app. So previously to get around this limit because our field crews need to zoom in real close on intersections were there may be a bunch of valves I created a simple basemap of our streets and published that and made that our default basemap which allowed us to zoom in as close as we want. And because the maps took the zoom level of the default basemap when we switched to the aerials using explorer it allowed us to zoom in tight with aerials. However using the basic viewer app when we switch to the aerial from our default streets map the aerials disappear when we zoom in. Is this just how this particular app works or is there a way to get it to use the zoom levels on our default basemap like explorer does. I hope this makes since
