In ArcGIS Pro 3.0 and ArcGIS Enterprise 11, branch versioning is a requirement when implementing validation attribute rules in an enterprise geodatabase deployment. This includes when using Data Reviewer's checks to implement validation attribute rules. In ArcGIS Pro 3.0, other QC workflows in Data Reviewer (such as visual review and automate validation using ArcMap-created Reviewer Batch Jobs) do not require branch versioning.

Your timing is impeccable! The Data Reviewer extension for ArcGIS Pro will be releasing a new command (Export Batch Job to Attribute Rules) for exporting a Reviewer Batch Job (*.rbj) to an Attribute rule import file (.csv). The resulting Attribute rule import files(s) are used with either the Import Attribute Rules GP tool or interactively using the Import Rules command in ArcGIS Pro to create new validation attribute rules in your geodatabase. This new command will be available in the next release (3.0) of ArcGIS Pro.

Hi @TomiRönkkö, Would Workflow 2 outlined in this Enterprise help topic address your field data collection workflow? The QC component of the workflow leverages Data Reviewer-based validation attribute rules which evaluate the quality of field-collected features in a named version prior to posting to your production database. If so, you might want to also consider ArcGIS Workflow Manager if there is a need to tightly control the workflow and assignment of tasks. The latest release includes a new step (Evaluate Data Quality) which automates the evaluation of attribute and topology rules. Thanks Jay Cary

The current implementation of the Regular Expression check (Attribute rule-based workflows) supports evaluation of text fields that are not system maintained. Could you clarify the workflows that you are having trouble supporting with this implementation?

Understand why quality plays a key role in every organization that uses GIS. Learn how to use ArcGIS Data Reviewer to improve data quality and reduce management costs. This technical workshop session will focus on how to implement automated data validation using configurable checks in Attribute rules. We’ll also highlight the importance of semi-automated workflows for detecting errors and methods to report data liabilities to multiple stakeholder communities.

Hi, Currently, ArcGIS Data Reviewer does not itself consume credits when using the extension's automated review checks or semi-automated review tools. That said, you may consume credits if you choose to share the datasets generated during quality control review as a hosted feature layer. For more info on extension licensing please see the desktop or server topics.

@KimberlyGarbade wrote: A few more questions. Validation rules written in pure Arcade can co-exist in the same database schema with Built in Attribute Rules (I.E. we have both types stored in a feature class at one time) but is this a supported configuration? Should all the rules be either pure Arcade OR Built-In and not mixed? Arcade and Data Reviewer-based validation attribute rules can co-exist in the same feature class/stand-alone table. This will likely be a fairly common occurrence for those organizations that have a need to create a custom rule implementation. @KimberlyGarbade wrote: 2) Is it expected behavior that when you use pure Arcade validation rules, when the error is fixed by a reviewer, that the error is deleted from the Error Layers (I.E. the "VALIDATIONLINEERRROS" table)? Errors created using Arcade-based validation rules are removed once the error condition has been resolved. Here is a link to the documentation that describes this workflow. Errors created using Reviewer-based validation rules are not immediately removed once the error condition has been resolved. Instead, the error is updated to reflect the current phase/status and tracking info (CorrectionNotes, CorrectionTechnician, VerificationNotes, VerificationTechnician). Here is a link to the documentation for reference.

Hi @KimberlyGarbade Thanks-much for providing the details on your deployment. This sounds similar to a bug that the team found that was specific to errors created when using the Query Attributes check in a services-based workflow (it could not be reproduced in a FGDB). The phase and status columns of the error features were not being updated once the error condition was resolved. The bug was fixed in the ArcGIS Pro 2.9/ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 release.
