Since you have an ArcGIS organizational account, can't you just upload the data through ArcGIS Desktop and then add it to your map, that you use in your app?

Did that take care of your duplicates or did you also have to use the dissolve tool? I'm confused, hehe.

If it is a ArcGIS Web Server you can do it, you might just need to adjust the security settings. if it is just a local ArcGIS Server then anyone outside of your company won't see the data. That might be the issue why you see it on your desktop but not on your ipad.

John, when I open the app I can't see your layers either. Areyou host the layers with an Arc WebServer or did you upload the layers to your organizational account?

Shiko, before you merge your polygons, as outlined here, create a Long Integer field named "UNIQID" in both of your files. Now follow the instructions for your first polygon layer. Once you have done it for your first polygon, write down your highest number that was created in your "UNIQID" field (Sort the field descending). Now go through the same process with your other polygon, but where it says "lStart = 1" put the number you wrote down +1 instead of the 1 (i.e. if the number you wrote down was 2000 add 1 and write 2001 in place of the 1). Now you can merge your polygons and you will have a continuous UNIQID, which you can use to find duplicates. Hope this makes sense! Tim

Jeremy, you don't have to create layer files. Open your mxd with the shapefile you want to upload. Symbolize the shapefile like you want it to look once uploaded. After that do the following. Click on "File" -> "Sign in..." and sign into your organizational account. Click on "File" -> "Share As" -> "Share as Service" -> "Publish a service" Choose My Hosted Services (My Account) and as Service name use for example Auto_Data In the Capabilities tab uncheck Tiled Mapping and check Feature Access. In the Item Description tab fill in the required fields. Once you are done with that, click on Publish. This will upload your shapefile as a feature service. Now in your content you can create a map from that. Let me know if you get the results you would like. Also, once you have added the feature service to your map, you can use analysis tools on that feature service. In your content tab of your map click on the little triangle next to your feature service and click on "Perform Analysis". Tim

Jeremy, Your best bet would be to purchase an ArcGIS Online organizational account. With this account you can upload hosted feature services through ArcGIS Desktop, looking just like you use them in ArcGIS Desktop. Remember using the ArcGIS Online free account is only allowed for private non commercial use. Also with 10.2 you will receive 1 free Organizational account with each ArcGIS Desktop license you posses. Hope this helps! Tim

Olivia, with the free account you can't create private groups. Meaning, either your data is visible to all or just visible to you. However with the paid account you can create private groups. Hope this helps! Tim

Maybe try and start fresh. Open a new mxd and do steps 1 to 4, at the end of step 4 click on the Georeferencing dropdown and choose "Update Georeferencing". Then remove the Georeferencing from your toolbar, save the mxd and close the mxd. Then re-open it and start editing. Maybe that works.

Did you close the georeferencing tool before you started editing? I think that is were the issue is.
