We started with ArcGIS Online and now we're configuring Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1. As we figure out the security options and what will work best for us I have a question about the difference between the way they each work. In ArcGIS Online... In Portal 10.4.1... Both are configured to use ADFS for authentication. What is the difference between these three user addition options? Thanks, Heather

Jeff - I've been trying to change the settings you pointed out and haven't been able to successfully get anything to stick. I get Code 500 Error that I could not connect to the user store. Is there any more documentation or examples you can provide to help? For instance, we don't have an ou=users or ou=ags in our environment as described in the ldapURLForUsers property. Thanks!

We've configured Portal to use ADFS authentication and have disabled login access via built-in accounts. Is there a way to remove the grey button click that is required in browsers, mobile devices etc on login? We like the SSO experience of IWA but we moved away from it because it didn't work consistently on our non-Windows mobile devices. Thanks, Heather

We've recently deployed Portal 10.4.1 and we have decided to use ADFS authentication as it works across all the apps we want to use (Collector, Survey123, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and browser). When you launch one of these applications the ADFS authentication looks for users with the following usernames: "username". However, when I use the built in tool to "add members based on existing enterprise users" then select "from a group" usernames are automatically generated as username@DOMAIN. These don't line up so users cannot login. I have explored the "add members for <identity provider name> enterprise logins via SAML" and from here I can specify the username but I also have to enter the name and email address for each user either individually or in a file. This would require I look up each user individually and introduce an opportunity for typos. Is there a way to pull new users in without the @DOMAIN added to their username? Alternatively, is there a way to change what the ADFS authentication is looking for so it can understand username@DOMAIN? What are other enterprise implementations doing? Thanks, Heather

I have a number of projects set up with an operation layer that "Logs all positions of the user". I have also made sure that these project are set to synchronize automatically on a time interval. The issue that I am having is that despite seeing the information flowing into my back end server via syncing, the data is not being cleared from the mobile units. After many days of operations the crumb trail data is filling up the screen. I should also mention that each night I copy the data out of the feature class being used for publishing the service and move it over to an archive feature class so when I look at the service I only see data synced that day. Any ideas what could be going wrong here? For an immediate work-around I have users making the crumb trail not visible but they would like to be able to see some recent data on the screen. Thanks! I am also trying to get photos from a kmz into a feature class. I would like to be able to set up a process to get these images/points published as a service so they can be shared. The data is being exported from a Trimble Product called Business Center. Thoughts?

We are in the process of upgrading our old 7.0.1 ArcPad applications to version 10.2.2. One issue we have encountered is checkboxes on the custom form (7.0.1) resulted in value = 1 for True and value = 0 for false. In the new version of the application ArcPad is now generating -1 for True and 0 for false. Is there any way to change this? It is wrecking havoc on our enterprise database downstream. Thanks!

I have an existing feature class in an enterprise geodatabase with a float field. I would like to add a coded domain to limit the options a user has when performing data entry. Specifically, I want a coded domain so that the users will see 4.3 m (14ft) in the dropdown and 4.3 will be applied to the field as a value. When I set up the domain I choose field type Float and set my codes and descriptions without any problems, click Apply, OK, I'm happy. When I try to go back into Database Properties a moment later (without applying the domain to any fields) the Field type has now changed to Double. When I try to change it back to Float I get an error "The existing domain field type does not match that of the updated domain". Side note: I have followed the steps above and was able to successfully apply a domain to a float field in a file geodatabase. Can anyone help me out? Is this a limitation of an enterprise gdb? Thanks, Heather

Is there a .NET version requirement for ArcPad 10.2.2 on Windows Mobile? How about Windows 7 or 8? Can't seem to get a straight answer on this one. Thanks!

The step in question is a Launch ArcMap step. I want it to launch automatically the first time users come to it but not automatically move on just in case they need to go back in and make more edits. In no circumstance would they need to skip it all together. Does that make sense?

I have an edit data step that I have chosen to not allow users to skip. I accomplished this by not checking the step property "Step can be skipped". Another important note about the properties of this step is I have selected to enable to the option "Automatically executes when reached". Users have pointed out to me, and I have been able to verify, that they are being forced to launch the step twice before they can move the workflow along. Once is automatic (when the step is reached), then they have to execute it again. Is this a known bug? As a work around I removed the "Automatically executes when reached" feature and it seems to work now. Too bad if we can't have it all. -Heather

I had a great call Friday with RJ Sunderman and got my GeoEvent Processor all sorted out. First, renaming and restarting the GeoEvent Service made the error message I described above dissapear, however the email and SMS notifications based on enter my geofences was still not working. To debug, I created a new cache-out output connector using the default configuration. This new output connector could then be added to different points in the geoevent service to listen to the output that reaches that point. http://localhost:6180/geoevent/rest/cache/cache-out?f=generic-json Was used to review the data that was captured by the output connector. https://localhost:6143/geoevent/admin/cache/cache-out/delete?geoEventDefinitions=* Allowed me to clear the cache between debug points. I was able to move the output connector through my model and eventually discovered that the field I was using in the geofence layer to later enrich the data was null, preventing the enrichment from happening. This debugging technique was great for viewing the current state of the geoevent as it flowed though my service. I was able to fix up my geofence data and get it all going again. Thanks RJ!

Please help! I had a great demo up and running the included geofence based emailing and SMS. Now I see this when I look at the GeoEvent Service... Any suggestions? A couple notes: JDITESTGIS is listed in the Registered ArcGIS Server list on the Data Stores page and I can validate it GeoEventProcessor is the name of the folder I have the services published in with ArcGIS Server
