Surely that is not ideal behaviour also! I can almost understand the behavior I described as being acceptable because you could argue that by changing the layer order, you change what you want to see/mask as well, but it usually isn't the case in any of the cases I've been working on. Generally I'm reordering layers to optimise drawing, but the overall masking effect is still desired.

I've been creating a layout in ArcGIS Pro and have found what looks to be interesting behaviour. Does this seem logical or to be a bit of a bug? When selecting elements and Distributing them vertically, I would expect this to be done using the element frame (extent). I've found though that in the case of a dynamic legend, it's using the top/bottom item within the legend as the reference point, and not the actual frame. Looking at my example below, where the limited features in the map frame results in the legend extent not being filled up by legend items, this results in items being distributed over the blank section of the legend. If I were to move my map and the legend were to grow (with more features being displayed in the map frame), this would then ruin the layout by overlapping the scale bar and text. From this; I select this; And get this;

@KoryKramer I suspect he's referring to the ability to see all Layers with Masking applied/not applied in a combined window (similar to the Label Weights/Label Priority/Label Summary windows). At present, you can only see what has Masking turned on, or what is masked by a layer by clicking on each layer individually and opening the Masking list. Persoanally, I think having a simple table view that lists each layer in the ToC and then Column 2 lists all the layers that are used to Mask layers in Column 1 would cut it (with a little +/- button to alter individual layer settings).

I hope this is just a support question and not an idea (though will happily move it if so). I've found that when using Layer Masking in ArcGIS Pro, that if I then move/reorder layers with a Mask setting applied (i.e. Land Systems (FPC) in the image below) in the table of contents, it wipes the mask setting. Likewise, if I move a layer that is being used as the Mask (i.e. Operation Mask in the images below), layers masked by that layer lose the setting and need it reapplied. Table of Contents; Hope that makes sense!

Adding my support for this functionality. A lot of the mapping I find myself doing these days is building templates for less GIS capable staff to use. One of the features I've been looking forward to using is the layer Masking in ArcGIS Pro. In itself, it works great for features. I have another issue (will post separately) about the settings resetting each time a layer is moved, but hiding labels seems like an obvious exclusion. I struggle to think of a scenario where you would want to hide features by still show the labels. I understand that we can convert labels to annotation and mask them that way, but that is not desirable when the map products we make will vary in location and scale and we want the labeling to be dynamic.

@DougMorgenthaler that idea sounds like a good option too. Glad it's in the pipeline.

We have a lot of staff that work in an offline environment. We are slowly getting them to load a new Vector Basemap for use when offline, but this won't be a requirement for all maps (as imagery may be more useful). I find it common that people don't really understand the Level of Detail option, or don't remember that it needs to be changed. It would be useful if we could either (or both); a) set a default Level of Detail in the app settings (overrides (b) if both are implemented?) b) set a default Level of Detail in our organisational settings

I agree, it would be handy if we could draw the extent that we wanted taken offline instead of relying on the area displayed on screen (rarely do we want a long, narrow area that is nearly twice as long north/south as it is east/west).

This is an idea I would like to see implemented as well. Currently a lot of our field staff use apps like Avenza and OziExplorer. I haven't used Avenza much, but the key thing people like about Ozi is it's simplicity. Open and go then export the track tail later. We are moving a lot of our staff across to Field Maps, but one key thing Ozi does that Field Maps doesn't, is location history. I've looked into the Tracker option, but as implied, it requires additional licencing and enables remote location monitoring, requires licences to be assigned, etc etc. Really all I'm looking for is a bread crumb function (customisable length in the app settings: 100m - 50,000m for example with a point/vertice dropped every 10/50/100m). Maybe this could be tied into the Markup function of a users Field Maps app if ESRI didn't want to make it too smart and take away from the appeal of an extra paid (licenced) Tracker function? Also, the option to "wipe" the track tail would be handy so you could start with a clean slate for whatever the desired reason is (usually navigating in remote areas). If we could get this function, I'm confident we could convert some of our older school hold-outs!

I agree, I've had a similar experience with the locating function in field maps. Even though it is continuously tracking my location, even when the screen is off or running in the background (Android), when I turn the screen back on, there is an annoying delay where the location indicator pauses, moves then jumps around for a bit before settling on my location.

Definitely agree with this idea. Have wondered why it wasn't sm iron from the get go. Our field staff ate frequently in offline areas, but also online, particularly when using for quick updates in the office. Being able to open an online map for a quick check of something outside of regular offline areas would be very handy!

Thanks @KoryKramer and @TomBole for your assistance. I don't know if it matters, but I noticed in the BUG Synopsis that it only refers to rectangle graphics. We noticed the same problem occurring with line graphics too but I couldn't see a way to contact them directly on the BUG listing.

We too have found this same issue with rectangle and line graphic elements not exporting. We have found the python code works as a work around, but will be telling staff not to upgrade until this is fixed (and reverting other installs to 2.6). A tip for those unsure about python use, if you only want to export a single layout in your project, enter the layout name between the brackets (and inside " ") on line 4 as per my added instruction below; ##Export to PDF
aprx = arcpy.mp.ArcGISProject("CURRENT")
aprx.listLayouts()
for lyt in aprx.listLayouts(): #**** ENTER THE LAYOUT NAME YOU WANT TO EXPORT INTO THE BRACKETS i.e. for lyt in aprx.listLayouts("Layout Name"):
#Parameters: output name, resolution, image quality, compress vector graphics, image compression, embed fonts, layer attributes, georeference, jpeg compression, clip to elements, output as image, embed color profile
#Image quality: "BEST", "BETTER", "NORMAL", "FASTER", "FASTEST"
#Image compression: "ADAPTIVE", "DEFLATE", "JPEG", "LZW", "NONE", "RLE"
#Layer attributes: "LAYERS_ONLY", "LAYERS_AND_ATTRIBUTES", "NONE"
lyt.exportToPDF(f"C:\Temp\{lyt.name}.pdf", 150, "NORMAL", True, "ADAPTIVE", True, "LAYERS_ONLY", True, 80, False, False, False)
print("Done")

I too would like to do this. I really wish the ArcGIS Pro development team would include a Pivot Table style function too in either the report or chart areas!
