Hi Heather, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing crashing. My recommendation is to contact Esri Technical Support as soon as possible: Esri Support Contact Support On my end, I can't reproduce a crash with the Reshape tool - then again, there are many variables that could be different between our environments and data. Esri Support can help to narrow these down and get a reproducible case to the developers. I wish I could help you more, here on Geonet, but sometimes these things are difficult to triage in a timely manner. Thank you, Scott

Sure thing! If the clearing the display cache does not resolve it: One thing that we thought of - are you using domains, and perhaps symbolizing the features by the domain field? The reason I ask is because when you split a feature, Pro respects the split policy that is defined on the source geodatabase. This is mentioned in the documentation for the Split tool: Split a feature—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop More on Split policies: Introduction to attribute domains—Geodatabases | ArcGIS Desktop -Scott

Hi Paul, That's certainly odd behavior that I haven't experienced myself before, but it seems a bit similar to the behavior described in this thread: Getting edits to show up immediately ArcGIS Pro Please try the solution of clearing the cache and test the Split again. A few questions: What version of Pro? What is the source of the data? (File Geodatabase, Enterprise Geodatabase, Feature Service, etc.) Thanks, Scott

Hi Morten, I tested the workflow you provided and could reproduce a crash in 2.4.2 but not in 2.5, which is not released yet, but coming soon. Thanks for reporting it to us. For what it's worth, here is the workflow with no crash in 2.5: Thank you, Scott

Hi Rob, Open the Rotate tool - Move, rotate, or scale a feature—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop Select the features you want to rotate. If needed, move the anchor by holding CTRL. Hit TAB to set a rotation angle if using dynamic constraints (Constrain direction for a segment—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop) or hit A key to bring up a dialog to set the angle. Finish the job with F2. Bonus: if you want to snap while rotating hit the S key to set a secondary rotation anchor: This shows a polygon and line, but it will work just the same with points too. -Scott

Hi Dylan, That is certainly odd behavior, and I can't reproduce it. I'm also using 2.2.3. The only time I've seen similar behavior of a tool getting "stuck" was here: Stuck on pan tool ...and possibly more relevant here: Stuck on Explore Tool While Editing Do you happen to use Trend Micro or Webroot antivirus software? Either way, please report the issue to Esri Technical Support: https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support Thanks, Scott

Thanks for trying those other scenarios, David. I'm having a hard time understanding why this would happen. Try clearing the local cache in Options > Display to see if that makes any difference: If that doesn't work - I would suggest that you to reach out to Esri Technical Support: Esri Support Contact Support Thank you, Scott

Hi David, That is certainly odd behavior that I can't reproduce, so I have a few questions: How did you create the feature class? In Pro? Does the same issue occur for another feature class in the same file geodatabase, how about a different file geodatabase, how about a new file geodatabase? How are you cutting the polygons? I'm assuming with the Split tool? Thanks, Scott

Hi Evan, Based on your recent reply to Dan above. Here is what I think happened - just a theory Allow splitting without a selection is checked off (found at the bottom of the Split tool's pane). Another polygon is selected (could even be out of the map's extent). You are attempting to split an unselected polygon. If all of the above is true, Split becomes active because the software thinks you want to split the selected polygon, and then throws the error because you have not created a cutting line across any selected polygons. To avoid this in the future, make sure you are using the Split tool's selection tool - or perhaps try checking on Allow splitting without a selection. Thanks, Scott

Hi Nigel, Hmm... it seems that geometry should be ok then. It's a bit difficult to tell what could be going on from just a few screenshots. What happens if you export the data or a subset of the data to a file geodatabase, does the same thing happen? Without having access to more information and/or the data itself, I can only speculate -Scott

Hi Nigel, I can't reproduce with my own polygons in a similar configuration. It seems like there could be a geometry issue with the data. See this help article: Checking and repairing geometries—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop If that's not it, then we would likely need to see the data. If you want, and the data is relatively small, please send a Map Package that contain the polygons to me [email protected] - or you can open a case with Esri Technical Support Esri Support Contact Support who can set up a way to transfer large datasets. Thanks, Scott

Hi Sean, Until Pro has the horizontal option (hopefully in the near term), you can constrain the rectangle to a specific direction. If your map has no rotation, it can work like this: In this case, I use "90-1". The "90" specifies 90 degrees and the "-1" part set the quadrant as northeast. That's because my project direction units are set to Quadrant Bearing: This can be adapted to any of the direction units. I hope this helps in the meantime. Scott
