UPDATE: In ArcGIS Pro 2.8, we added the ability to turn off snap tips and change the snap tip color. Related to this request, in the next release of ArcGIS Pro (2.9), we plan to add the ability to turn off layer name and snap type.

@BrendanMcCann Oh I'm sorry if that wasn't too clear. I was using Inference. More info here: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/inference-constraints.htm If you have Inference and Snapping turned on, inference "rays" will appear while sketching and hovering over segments. For the first click, snap to an edge and they will appear. If you snapped to a curve, the rays will appear parallel and perpendicular to the tangent direction of the curve. If you snapped to a line, the rays will be parallel and perpendicular to the segment you snapped to. HINT: hover over any segment while sketching to show the rays for that segment. HINT: turn off your basemap to better see inference rays HINT: required snapping agents need to be set in the map before visiting the preview page of the present template In this gif, you can see that I'm turning on midpoint snapping and then going into the template properties and snapping the anchor to the midpoint of the top edge of the rectangle. Then I click on the curved line (while snapping to it) and the inference rays appear. I'm now in rotate mode (for the tool) and I can snap to the inference ray that is perpendicular to the tangent of the point I clicked on. This will make the rectangle perpendicular to the curve. Like I said above, there are probably ways to improve this workflow 🙂 but this seemed like it might help in the case you presented. Does that help? Thanks, Scott

Hi @BrendanMcCann Create a polygon that is horizontal and use that as the selected polygon for the preset template. So the preview should look like this: You might want to play around with the anchor placement too. FYI - You can create a horizontally constrained polygon by using the horizontal constraint found on the edit toolbar that appears when using the rectangle tool: Does that help? Thanks, Scott

Hi @BrendanMcCann, If the polygons are all uniform, I would suggest creating a preset template from a single selected polygon, snapping the insertion point to a corner or midpoint of the edge of the polygon, and then using the 'Point with rotation' tool to create them. You can snap the insertion point to the edge of the curve and then rotate the feature before placing it. See my response in this thread: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/insert-new-feature-on-a-specific-user-defined-location-on-edit/idc-p/1005685/highlight/true#M14447 Here I am using snapping and Inference to place polygons along a curve using a preset template and the 'point with rotation' tool Using Inference allows me to snap to the edge of an inference ray (light blue lines) that is perpendicular to the tangent of the curve. There are probably ways to improve this workflow too. Thanks @AnnabelleStewart1 for that info. I tested on my end, and so far, I can't reproduce it. When you can reproduce it, I would suggest showing it to Esri Technical Support Maybe it's data-specific or specific to where the data is stored? If so, they can help narrow that aspect down. Or if you can capture the behavior in video form, and can share it, feel free to post it here. Thanks, Scott

Hi @AnnabelleStewart1 What kinds of things are you copying? Features on a map, records in a table, layers in contents pane, catalog items? How many? Does it happen every time? What specific tools are taking 30 seconds to initialize? I know, lots of questions. So this could be a good one for Esri Technical Support: https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support Thanks, Scott

@Thomas_Z1 Thanks for clarifying. This is an issue when I just want to look something up (and for that you changed something in the project which is not intended to be saved). In that case, you might want to look into setting an accelerator for esri_editing_SaveEditsBtn.

Hi @Thomas_Z1 Have you looked into the following options? Using the existing options, you can save edits when you save the project and you will get prompted to save those edits or cancel (the project will always be saved): Uncheck 'Show dialog to confirm save edits' if you don't want to be prompted to save edits every time: If you need a shortcut for saving edits only, you can set an accelerator (custom keyboard shortcut) for the command with the following ID: esri_editing_SaveEditsBtn: Here I'm using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S Regarding the contextual nature of your idea: if it's going to ask you every time you use the CTRL+S (save project) shortcut and there are unsaved edits, why does it have to be contextual? Thanks, Scott

@JimWilliams This will be fixed in the next release of Pro (2.8). Esri Support has it listed here: https://support.esri.com/en/bugs/nimbus/QlVHLTAwMDEzODU5Mw== If it's the same bug, the annotation is still editable and the error is incorrectly showing. Thanks, Scott

Hi @AZendel Try adding the layout Navigate tool to the Quick Access Toolbar (here I am right-clicking on it): Now when you have an activated layout and you are on the Edit tab using the Annotation or any other editing tool, and you need to navigate the layout, you can click on the tool in the quick access toolbar to navigate, and then switch back to the Annotation tool. You can even add a custom keyboard shortcut (called an accelerator) to make switching tools even easier: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/customize-the-ribbon.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_0B9AD3403DB8463B94897E264759A611 Example: Does this help? Thanks, Scott

My best guess is that the distance is less than the XY tolerance of the data. What are the XY tolerance and resolution on that dataset? This article outlines a way to fix problems caused by non-standard resolution/tolerance values (I can't say this is one of those problems without access to the data): https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-pro/analytics/geoprocessing-resolution-tolerance-and-hair/

Hi @sven_aurea Can you please show us the result? I think I set my data up like you have, and have Clip using the same method (Discard) and 0 buffer distance, Before: After (I also moved the input polygons out of the way to show the result): Is this different than your result? Thanks, Scott
