Hi @RobertBorchert FYI in the next release of ArcGIS Pro (2.9), you will be able to perform a query (ex. select by attributes) without an active edit tool filtering the selection. Thanks for the feedback! -Scott

@AlfredBaldenweck Oh I'm sorry, yes, it seems the workaround that I suggested would only be applicable if you have access to the attachments table (i.e. in a local GDB).

Hi @AlfredBaldenweck It's currently not possible to use the Merge (modify tool) and have all attachments carry over; however, the attachment table is editable, so you could manually update the attribute on the attachments that store the related record's ID.

Hi @JoshuaBruni I sent you a direct message with some questions. Thanks @JayantaPoddar for the suggestion; however, the issue with tools launched from the quick access toolbar was fixed in ArcGIS Pro 2.7. Thanks, Scott

@MarcelSt-Germain If you want to trace polygon A: select it. Then, in Create Features, choose a feature template for Polygon B and choose the Trace tool for that template. Right-click in the map to bring up trace options and check on the option to "Trace only selected features". Now when you use the trace tool to create a new polygon B, the tool will only trace along the selected polygon A. The first solution regarding turning on snapping is useful if you have many layers in your map and you only want to trace features in a particular layer without other layers interfering. Does that help? -Scott

@MarcelSt-Germain If a layer is snappable it's also traceable, so if you don't want to trace along a particular layer, turn off snapping for that layer in the List By Snapping view in the Contents pane: You can also make a particular layer the only snappable layer: Thanks, -Scott

Hi @MarcelSt-Germain Perhaps you are symbolizing by a field that has a domain assigned? See the notification that pops up regarding domains in the Split tool (in your screenshot). The Split tool in ArcGIS Pro will respect the split policy that is defined on the source geodatabase. This is mentioned in the documentation for the Split tool: Split a feature—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop You can check the split policy by right-clicking on the layer in the Contents pane > Design > Domains. The Split Policy will be listed here. It sounds like your data could be set "Default", but perhaps you want to set it to "Duplicate". Thanks, Scott

Hi @LauraRaposo First, you'll need to find out why the layer is not editable. In the Contents pane, switch to List By Editing view and make sure the layer is checked on (editing enabled) and look for any warnings. You can also bring up the editing Status window to see if there are any reasons listed there. Relevant documentation: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/specify-which-layers-can-be-edited.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/view-layer-permissions-for-editing.htm Once you figure out why the layer isn't editable and you correct that problem, you can use Replace Geometry along with Replace Sketch to update the geometry of the old feature (while maintaining its attributes) Relevant documentation: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/replace-feature-geometry.htm https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/replace-sketch-geometry.htm#GUID-F4F55F5A-DF01-4C23-86B3-F9449E072A3C I hope this helps, -Scott

Hi @Anonymous User Can you please clarify what you mean by Editing is slow and clunky? Are you specifically noticing a new problem with 2.8 that didn't exist in previous releases of Pro? Thank you, Scott

Hi @Anonymous User Regarding the missing back button after opening Edit Vertices tool from the context menu: good catch, editing tools will usually host themselves in the Modify Features pane, if it's available, but if it isn't, tools will be hosted in the Active Tool pane, which can be closed when you're done it. But that reminded me of another hint: You can reset panes for what you're working on. So if you want to focus on editing, mapping, or geoprocessing, or if you just have too many panes open, you can reset them for a particular task: View tab > Windows group > Reset Panes drop-down Which will get you back to the main panes that you would use for Editing (Create, Modify, Attributes, Catalog). Regarding the default tool being Explore and an option to change it. I'm not aware of an existing idea, so feel free to log it. Regarding the "edit tool experience", it looks like someone logged a similar idea already: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-pro-ideas/bring-edit-button-from-desktop-to-pro/idi-p/930578 Thank you for the feedback! -Scott

Hi @Anonymous User With the core select tool activated (first screenshot below), you can right click on the map and access a context menu command that activates the Edit Vertices tool, which will then be hosted in the Modify Features pane. For all modify tools, to deactivate them, you can either switch to any other tool (like the core select tool or another modify tool), or hit the back button on the modify pane to deactivate that tool and switch to the Explore tool. You may also want to check out this help topic on selecting features for editing and how 'Active Select' works, because once a tool is activated, that tools 'select tool' becomes active: Select features for editing - https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/select-features-for-editing.htm Another hint: you can put frequently used tools, like Edit Vertices, on the Quick Access Toolbar. This blog goes into detail: https://www.esri.com/about/newsroom/arcwatch/customize-the-quick-access-toolbar-in-arcgis-pro-2/ Does that help? Thanks Scott
