So, I am guessing that this will not be supported in the browser version?

Darryl, It took me a minute to understand what was going on here. I fumbled over this one for a day before I got it. You built the expression, but now you need to 'add' it to the list of expressions below. Just click on the green 'plus' sign (+) below the built expression, and you should be good to go!!! I hope that helps! --Adam

Hello All, I know that there is a generalized explanation of what the gap Detector is HERE, but I am looking for either some examples of use within a process or some tutorials. I have not been successful setting up what I thought should be a very easy email notification of when a data stream stopped, but I am having no success. I have a lightning strike feed from WeatherBug that covers Pennsylvania. I use a GEP "Receive Text from a TCP Socket" in client mode and send a handshake message to authenticate. When there is no lightning activity, the service sends a "keep-alive" message (in the message, the lightning type code "9" tells me it is a keep-alive message so that I can filter it out) every 15 seconds. After about 6 to 8 hours, the remote server sends a "RESET" packet to my server and then stops sending messages. I have talked to the data provider, and they simply say that I need to have my software send a new connect message.... So right now, I am simply trying to have GEP send an email message for when it doesn't hear a message from the data provider after 20 seconds. I set that up, along with an email output, with no success: What might I be doing wrong? I am trying to test this setup, but it will not respond when I simply stop the input. I have set up a GeoEvent Simulator with a stream of 5 packets. After the 5 packets are sent, no email. I also am wondering if and when I get this actually working, how am I supposed to tell what the event is? A stopping of the stream or a start of the stream? I don't believe that there is a new GeoEvent Definition created.... Thanks, --Adam

Does the browser version of OD support filtering based on a time field, relative to current time? I have it working with just a simple numerical or text attribute, but not with relative time. The old "! Connectivity Issues" alert appears on the top bar when I select one. Thanks, Adam

If you are using your own install of ArcGIS for Server, check that the max feature limit on queries is set to over 1000 within the service you are hitting. The specific widget you are using may be bound to that query limit? I know that your summary widget is working differently, but it was the only place I knew to point.

My original rush to make this work was to be able to use labeling from the map service within OD... So even within the OD Application (Windows), you cannot do labeling AND selections, filtering and the like...? Back to the drawing board.

In summary, technologically it is quite possible but care must be taken to involve those who understand the radio network and its capacity and the added volume of your location requests to ensure the total capacity of the RF-transmitted digital bandwidth is not exceeded. -Cam This is a great point Cam. Thank you for adding it to the discussion. Right now, we are using a polling solution designed by Esri to work with our system. We are currently tracking the agency with the largest active radio deployment on our state-wide system. We are averaging between 600 and 800 radios at any given time, being polled at 20 second intervals. At this moment, GEP is handling about 44 messages per second for this feed. So, there are 44 packets per second going over the radio network to the radios and 44 responses per second coming back to the server over the radio network. We are going to be modifying that polling engine to make use of a "one time polling" feature of the radio that previously was unavailable. Polling engine sends out a packet that tells the radio to respond with its location every x number of seconds. This will effectively eliminate 1/2 of the AVL related traffic (minus one for the single request) over the system. The system is not being stressed at all, but it is better to be prepared for higher usage! --Adam

Sorry for the horrible title, I am not a programmer to say the least. I am looking for the best method to put one of three attributes in a field based on the value of 2 other fields. To understand the context, the field GPSTime gives the GPS device time in seconds calculated from the satellite data stream. If that value is 0, then the device is not able to calculate position; maybe because the device cannot see the sky. If the device is unable to calculate position, it is also unable to produce the values to calculate speed, therefore speed does not matter at that point... If SPEED > 0 AND GPSTimeSec > 0 then STATUS = "Moving" If SPEED = 0 AND GPSTimeSec > 0 then STATUS = "Stopped" If GPSTimeSec = 0 then STATUS = "NoGPS" I am looking to get the STATUS field updated with one of those three values. What processor should I use and how should I formulate the statement so that GEP understands? OR, am I barking up the wrong tree? Thank you, --Adam **Edit for additional information** For the time being, I have just forked the service 3 ways, adding a filter element to each fork - one for each needed value. After each filter, I added a simple field calculator for each value (ex: Expression: 'NoGPS') and then pulled each back into the end output. This just doesn't seem like the most efficient way.

I updated OD on my computer and published a new Operations View with a new Web Map populated with a Map Service. I have set the OD program to refresh the dynamic Map Service every 5 seconds. This refresh works in the actual program, but does not work at all when using the Browser version of the OD. So far, I have tried IE 10 and Chrome. Is this a known issue?

Before the change at 10.1, I was able to package up my OLE DB (Jet) connection file for Access in a coordinated folder along with a scratchworkspace GDB and other SDE connection files and distribute a Model for other users to execute. Now it seems that I cannot do this because of the change noted in this help literature. Now, all of the analysts have to set up their own connections and they have to change this parameter every time they open the model. Am I missing something here? What if I wanted to convert this to python and run it as a scheduled server task? Thanks, --Adam

...although, in widgets such as the Bar Chart, you can change the Display Type to "Display feature counts as bars" and use any field for Value. You then have a bar chart displaying the count of each group - or domain. It should be the same in the Gauge widget.
