100.2: I notice that label definitions from layers in an MMPK do not contain text symbol info in the JSON. Is this a known issue? At some point in the future, I would like to be able to change the color of labels based on changes to the map background.

I have noticed the same is true with MMPKs (100.2.1). Are there any plans to support this feature in the future?

I see. I didn't look closely enough through all the directions. There is a logical glitch at Get Conda with ArcGIS Pro¶ ArcGIS Pro 2.1 Proceed to Using the API for instructions. ArcGIS Pro 2.1 ships with conda and the arcgis package pre-installed.

Does a portal have to be at a specific version in order for the API to work? I can connect to my portal and search for items, but when I create a WebMap from an item, nothing shows:

Is it possible to change the Url of a FeatureLayer? For example, changing "https://oldserver/arcgis/rest/services/myfolder/mymapservice/MapServer/1" to "https://newserver/arcgis/rest/services/myfolder/mymapservice/MapServer/1" When I try this: fLyr.manager.update_definition({ "url":sNewLayerUrl }) I get "RuntimeError: Invalid URL (Error Code: 400)".

I see some differences comparing it to the current Gas asset package. I'm assuming these are two different beasts?

I'm trying to use the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Add-In, but when I try to deploy a solution, I get this error: <urlopen error Tunnel connection failed: 407 Proxy Authentication Required> Update: I tried setting the http_proxy and https_proxy environment variables, as I would for pip, and that did the trick. I'm willing to bet that this is a Python issue. I thought all this stuff was fixed. Update 2: I also had to set the environment variables in order to see and download untools.

You can download the presentation and the latest version of the sample code here. I definitely plan to wrap more Runtime classes, especially Tasks. Also, I want to put out some more fun examples, such as geocoding and taking maps offline. Now, HERE is the place for some feedback. As of now, this project is something that I'm just doing for personal entertainment, but I believe that ArcGIS Runtime for Python can be a reality, as well as genuinely fun. With that, let me ask a complex question. Given that Qt is paying some lip service to PySide 2 as "Qt for Python", but also the fact that PyQt and SIP are here-and-now and up-to-date -- how many people are interested in my continuing my own approach? More importantly, would anyone be willing to collaborate? For the first time in my life, I'd be perfectly willing to post a Git (you stupid Git!) but only if others are willing to participate. Also, if "Qt for Python" really happens, it might be worth jumping the line and completely reworking this project. Anyway, these are my thoughts right now. DevSummit was great -- I've been to every single one -- and already I'm looking forward to next year. Cheers! --Mark

Long time passing... The coffee has petered out in earlier events, but not [I'm pretty sure] in the last few years. Are we forgetting certain lessons? Here we are at DevSummit 2018 and the coffee cycle repeats itself. Speaking of beverages, as I witnessed the struggles of the poor beer dispensers, I have decided that this was not managed at all well. I don't know what Palm Springs Convention Center had promised, but they most definitely did not deliver this year, unless it was to your own specification. Let's learn from this, folks. At least lunches were good as ever. Party was crap food, greasy, a guilty pleasure, with admittedly an alternative back salad row. I honestly don't know how to improve that. Let's have a round of farts and blurts for the spirit of party hearty [which then fails and drops you to the ground]. You did keep the better swag pens from last year. At least you learned from that. --Mark

I was able to "solve" the problem by setting the OnlyUseLatestCLR registry value, but that's an extreme measure to take. Surely, there's a better solution out there?

I'm migrating my ArcGIS 10.2.1 / VS2010 development environment from Windows 2008 R2 to 2012 R2, and have run into a problem with debugging a .NET add-in. I matched my VS and project debug settings, also ArcMap.exe.config, and am running as Administrator, but I still can't hit my breakpoints unless I manually attach my project to an existing ArcMap process. Any ideas? UPDATE: The problem seems to be that Windows 2012 is ignoring* the "supportedRuntime" entry in ArcMap.exe.config. In Win2008, ArcMap runs as v4.0.30319 as expected, but in Win2012, ArcMap runs as v2.0.50727. I tried two different syntaxes: <supportedRuntime version="v4.0.30319"/> and <supportedRuntime version="v4.0" sku=".NETFramework,Version=v4.0" /> and neither are working. *when ArcMap is launched from VS2010. When ArcMap is run separately, it runs as both v2.0 and v4.0.

Right: we will have no silliness in this presentation! As a simple example, I'll show how to use PyQt to launch a QML app. But why stop there? Next, I'll show how to use SIP and qmake to create Python bindings for the C++ API that work seamlessly with PyQt. Finally, I'll show how to use Qt Creator to create (and debug!) a coarse-grained object in C++ and add SIP wrappers in the release build to make a Python module. Includes QtWidget and QtQuick examples that work in macOS and Windows. Is this concept practical? No, no, no! Hold your head like this, then go 'Whaah!' Try it again.

I'm trying to set the historical version of a layer using ChangeVersion_management, but it's not working in Desktop (10.2.1, 10.5.1). When I export the layer to a new feature class, I'm getting the current features rather than the historical ones. What am I doing wrong? dtHistorical = datetime.date(2016, 12, 29)
iYear = dtHistorical.year
sLeakSurveyName = "LeakSurvey" + str(iYear)
arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(sConnectionFile + "/LeakSurvey", "LyrLeakSurvey")
sDate = dtHistorical.strftime("%m/%d/%Y")
arcpy.ChangeVersion_management("LyrLeakSurvey", "HISTORICAL", "", sDate)
arcpy.CopyFeatures_management("LyrLeakSurvey", sLeakSurveyName)
However, the code DOES work in Pro 2.0.1! Perhaps it's a date formatting issue?
