If you haven't seen this, the Solutions team looks like they will be releasing a sidewalk management solution later this year (blog link). This topic is really outside my normal duties but about 3 years ago, I was wrangled into building a public facing app that would show the public our ADA inventory information. I just rebuilt it with Experience Builder because of forced migration (thanks ESRI) and you can poke around in it here: https://gis.snoco.org/portal/apps/experiencebuilder/experience/?id=f1d7bd5e44ae466c953994a37c074128 The data in this application is old and kind of severed from the current workflow. We need to reconcile this and incorporate the new information but there's only so much I can do as I have to force migrate several apps before my IT shuts down our original Portal instance at the end of this month. Anyways. as I attempt to recall how this worked, the staff that were doing the inventory may still have been doing clipboard attribute collection and using a consumer level GPS for some field data collection. All the data was actively maintained in a file geoDatabase and I had a cut pulled out and published publicly in order to build the original WAB application. Since that time, my organization has adopted an asset management system (Cartegraph) and now the ADA inventory information is being captured in there so field staff are using tablets to capture location & attribute information and it's all stored in there. Because of the drastic change, the current workflow has been "date forward" and doesn't contain that historical stuff yet. I've been told there are some issues about duplicate features with respect to merging old and new data but I'm not really clear on that part. Not super helpful but I'll help get the ball rolling with discussion.. 🙃 Steve

Yes and no..Within the default Map Viewer interface, there isn't a way. The most direct way I can think of is if you have access to the REST endpoint of the map service. You can query against the service with a WHERE clause (OBJECTID=77 or TYPE='Active' etc) and have the REST query return the results in JSON format. Then you can copy/paste the JSON into a text file and then import it back into desktop GIS using the geoprocessing tool for JSON to Feature.

I don't have a specific workflow to share but, in 3.X API based apps (classic web map, WebApp Builder apps, etc), once the ESRI map is loaded it was possible to convert the map layer of interest to JSON. Feature layers had a method called toJson and I have successfully used this to extract a layer from a map where the REST endpoint was not directly accessible. You would open the web developer tools of your browser, and then access the map object using the console line input and have the JSON dump out to the console. Once you had that, copy/paste that into a new text document with a JSON file suffix and then you could proceed like you described. I'm not sure if the 4.x API has an equivalent method to call.

That was the issue. Our admin tweaked the setting and the symbol finally shows up. Thanks!

Working in Portal 11.1 and I want to access a custom symbol in my web map so I have followed the process as outlined here in the help doc: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/3.1/help/sharing/overview/share-a-web-style.htm On the Admin side, I have asked my admin to enable the 2D symbol group as discussed here: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/11.1/administer/windows/configure-map.htm The symbol group my admin enabled shows up under the organization group section and I am a member of it. I have shared my style to the organization but the symbol group does not show up under the group sharing section. Where is the disconnect? How do I get the symbol group to show up in the group sharing section?

UPDATE- This isn't as easy as it appears. Although doing what I had last described wasn't that bad, there were further JSON references buried somewhere that I didn't know about or realize which caused weird behavior and eventual fatal errors as I tried working with the dashboard. In the end, I had to rebuild each dashboard from scratch. 😑

That's good confirmation Amanda, thanks. I'm already using Assistant because I have to move content from one Portal to another and update REST URLs so I'm already comfortable using it. And it does work. The charts associated with the web will break but all that's needed to revive them is to correct that layer ID reference in the Dashboard's JSON and the charts will work again (assuming they're all based on the same underlying dataset).

Ugh. Thanks. An idea from 2018 that isn't implemented leaves me with low hopes. "Why do things efficiently when you can completely rebuild them from scratch?" Thanks, ESRI.

Using Portal 11.1 and rebuilding a WAB / Dashboard app from scratch thanks to forced migration. I have 4 dashboards that are essentially identical but just differ due to a time based definition query on the data. I've mocked up one Dashboard so far and I thought I could just do a "save as" on the dashboard and then just subsequently change the underlying map that the dashboard uses. Apparently this can't be done? The only option I see is to remove the map completely and then re-add it (which will also remove all the chart widgets I spent time setting. Tell me I'm wrong- is there no easy way to swap maps used by a Dashboards app? Can I use ArcGIS Assistant to do this as a hack? Steve

Someone else might have a more elegant solution but this should work: var theInput = 'Alpha Bravo County';
var inputArray = Split(theInput, " ");
var theOutput = '';
for (var i in inputArray) {
if (Upper(inputArray[i]) != 'COUNTY') {
theOutput = theOutput + ' ' + inputArray[i];
}
}
return Trim(theOutput); I'm using the Upper function just to be safe in case there's any mix of upper / lower / proper case field values (but everyone is always consistent with attribute entry, amirite?) Steve

Thanks for this thread, as I missed it during my own search. I'm not totally sure this is the issue since I haven't published a special print service (I'm using the default Export Web Map Task), I'm using one of the default ESRI base maps and it sucessfully prints if I don't turn the layer in question on, and this is Portal v11.1 so that should include the patch that is linked in that thread. I'm not the admin so I'll have to pass this along to that group for further investigation. One random thought- could there be any specific group I need to add within SDE under Manage->Privileges for that feature class?

New to Experience Builder and I'm having an issue with the print widget involving one specific layer. I'm working with Portal v11.1 and when I attempt to print the map when a specific layer is turned on, the print task fails: The layer in question was shared from its SDE location (not hosted in Portal) and the Portal sharing is with our organization. If I don't include this specific layer, the print map operation completes successfully. The layer draws in the map without any issues. Anyone seen this before? Steve

ESRI's desired way for these type of requests is to use the Imagery Map Feedback map. Go to that link and it will explain what you need to do.

In Illustrator, try exporting the graphic to CAD format (DXF) and then bring import it into ArcGIS Pro and then save it as a feature layer. It won't have spatial attributes but you can just bring it in and manually move it and scale the feature once you have it into GIS.
